"Give me a blowjob and I'll get your Grandad into heaven." Catholic priest to grieving 7 year old boy.

Courtesy of the Belfast Telegraph:

A paedophile priest told a distraught seven-year-old boy that he could get his dead grandfather into heaven if he performed a sex act on him, a court has heard.

Belfast Crown Court heard that the boy was quite distressed about his grandfather being in purgatory but that 55-year-old James Martin Donaghy told the child "he could get him into haven if he helped him" and performed a sex act.

Last month just before his trial was due to begin Donaghy, originally from Lady Wallace Drive in Lisburn but now languishing in Magilligan prison, pleaded guilty to four charges of indecently assaulting the boy and one of common assault against the schoolboy on dates between January and May 1989.

Following a lengthy trial at the end of 2011, Donaghy was convicted of a total of 17 sex offences including indecent assault and committing acts of gross indecency against all three victims.

You know what I like about religion? That it teaches us all how to be moral.

I mean without it we would just be animals preying on small children, right?

Oh.....wait.

    But...
    But...
Mike Huckabee and Pat Robertson say that the reason we have school shootings is because we took God out of the schools...

Does this mean that God isn't in the churches either?

  2. God was apparently on this priest penis...or so he said something to that effect.
Reason #4,789 why I laugh at the sight of your good book!

Animals don't prey on some children like this; maybe for food, but not for sex.

Those poor, poor children. I weep for their exploitation and abuse.

Rather than make a big deal about Priests committing crimes against children who are unable to defend themselves from predators, just smile and have a nice day and don't sweat it since the priest is just practicing his YOLO and living his life vibrantly in private whenever he can get away with it. Sarah Palin stands with the pedophile priest and will blame it on Obama anyway, and we stand with Sarah.

Don't condemn a belief system and stereotype people because of a few bad apples. You know better.

    1. I only do that to belief systems which actively seek to covert people by telling them that they are their moral superior and that following the edicts of their religion will make them a better, more ethical, person.

The idea that being a Christian makes you a more trustworthy and moral person is the prevalent mindset in this country. And the falsehood of that premise must be pointed out as often as possible.

Anon 12:32 - and there are an awful bad apples.

The Michigan Archbishop has been shown to have moved $52 million into a Cemetery Fund to keep it from victims of abuse by the hands of their priests. And that they offered priests money to leave the priesthood.

      Disgusting.

Yeah, don't stereotype kiddie fiddlers just because they're pedophiles. Besides, it's okay if you're a republican.

The problem is that there are many more than a few bad apples. Those of you who know them, but turn your heads to their despicable acts are just as bad.

All that it takes for evil to exist is for good people to do nothing. I've never heard the Pope condemn these pedophiles, the church does what it can to cover and protect the perps, and feed more victims to them. The congregations often side on the side of the perp over their victims. The church wouldn't be associated with the behavior of the pedophiles if they ever once aggressively attempted to stop it.

The Vatican has buried stories like these for generations, moving offending priests around and allowing them access to even more children. Maybe they are bad apples, but there aren't just a few of them and the bushel itself is pretty damn rotten.

If the Church shuts it's eyes and ignores the "few" bad apples, it means the Church condones the practice, and yet there's people willing to excuse the criminal because they see it as "persecution".

It's more than a "few" bad apples.

This is what can happen when you tell naive people a fairy tale and promise heaven for their belief. It's why it's so easy for the R's to sway their "base". "If we eliminate the corporate tax, everything will be fine. Have faith in me."

Best experience in a Catholic church: Hubby at a family baptism. They recite The Lord's Prayer, he finishes "For Thine Is The Kingdom...." Catholic sister/grandma in the pew ahead, turned around and slapped his legs. Thou DOST stop at "Deliver us from evil," don'cha know.

We dissolved into body-shaking, silent giggles. Gotta love those Catholics!

There IS no defence whatsoever. My mom was a devout Catholic, and even she has spoken up against the Church on the sex abuse issue.
A big part of "faith" is taking the church on it's word. She was raised in a society where "Children should be seen and not heard", "A wife always submits to a husband", the church could do no wrong, "Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child" etc...

A lot of these adages are used by the perps to keep their victims silent. The MOST immoral part of it is the higher ups who know, yet aid and abet the criminals by shifting them around or calling them to the Vatican.

  9. I am a Catholic and was taught in religious classes that sins against each other should be punished by the laws of civil court. In any organization the offender should be prosecuted. As soon as an offence is discovered it should be actively taken to civil court. Most likely people who do not go to court are not wanting their family troubles public. How does this stop these offences! How does this resolve the abuse! There are bad people in every walk of life that is why the civil courts exist. This case, by being in civil court,is being handled as it should be. Most Catholics applaud these parents and agree that this man is evil scum.

I am a catholic woman and didnt make my First holy communion untill i was 14 due to various reasons.I was in the class with the 7 and 8 year olds and like the little girls i had to wear the full required outfit, the poofy communion dress, veil, gloves, under shirt, cloth diaper, rubber pants, tights and mary jane shoes.about an hour before the ceremony,i was in a classroom with all the other little girls and father came in to the room and told me he wanted to see me in his office.i followed him to his office and he closed the door and sat in his chair behind his desk.He called me over to him and i stood there and he told me he wanted to make sure i had the required cloth diaper and rubber pants on under my tights and lifted up the front of my communion dress and pulled my tights down and looked.since i couldnt fit into the toddler rubber pants the little girls had to wear,i had on teen size rubber pants over my diaper.i was shaking and quite nervous.he reached out his hand and put it on my crotch telling me he wanted to make sure they were rubber pants.he ran his hand up and down my crotch and then said okay and i pulled my tights back up and he told me i could go back to the class room.i was quite shaken and upset about what happened and it ruined my day.i couldnt look him in the eyes after he did that.i told my parents later what had happened and they confronted father about it and he denied it all.i was devastated! to this day i have that memory of him rubbing his hand up and down my crotch feeling the diaper and rubber pants on me.
