North Korea claims they could sink our aircraft carrier with a "single strike." That's awfully tough talk from a country whose supreme leader is an Asian Weeble.

North Korea said Sunday that its military could sink a U.S. aircraft carrier that President Trump is sending to the region “with a single strike,” according to Reuters.

“Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a U.S. nuclear powered aircraft carrier with a single strike,” North Korea's ruling Workers’ Party newspaper said in a commentary, the news service reported.

The Rodong Sinmun commentary reportedly compared the USS Carl Vinson to a “gross animal.”

The USS Carl Vinson and Japanese navy ships are currently conducting exercises in the Philippine Sea.

Look I am not one to saber rattle, and I am certainly not a war monger, but come on every missile North Korea attempts to launch fizzles out and falls into the sea.

The USS Carl Vinson on the other hand is a nuclear powered juggernaut with enough firepower to destroy the entire country before lunch.

Actually the Vinson may not have to do a single thing but anchor close enough to the North Koreans to piss them off enough to launch an attack and they will probably end up destroying their own country before lunch.

Sorry, that's what I get for watching a John Wayne film festival before bedtime.

While I agree with your point, the US should be careful about considering itself the mightiest army in the world. You look at the training that other countries do and do you think our overweight, device-addicted youth could rally to the call like they did in WWII? I don't think it would be that hard for China and/or Russia to kick our butts, especially after they use cyber-warfare to render our high-tech equipment temporarily inoperable. You take down one or two GPS satellites and none of it will work anymore. We still think we're invincible, but what if we're not?

    N. Korea has a raving lunatic in charge, just as the US does. Neither of them are mentally stable, both inherited from their fathers. Both are trying to live up to a father who was stronger in every way than they will ever be. Unfortunately, people go along with their ideas, and are making the world a dangerous place. Two madmen, in charge of weapons that can destroy the earth.

North Korea continues to make statements threatening to attack the United States. Should these statements be taken as evidence for a first strike attack by the United States? Is threatening us enough reason to Attack them knowing they have nuclear weapons?

Sometimes I feel badly for the North Korean people. The are just like or bible thumpers but thinner. Both have been indoctrinated into believing the man they worship has superpowers.
The NK people do not have the benefit of a indoctrination free education and soon we won't wither.
If you think we could never be a north korea, think again peeps. We are alfway there. Unless the smart unindoctrinated take charge, we're all fucked.

I believe our ignorance is going to be our downfall.
We are rapidly demonstrating how unsophisticated and dumb, greedy and intolerant we really are.
We are not a cohesive county, We would rather hate then work together.
Thank you trump supporters and enablers .

    Resist!!!

  6. He's extremely well-organized in his control of North Korea. Don't be fooled by his unflattering haircut. He has backbone and nerves of steel. Trump does not scare him.

North Korea has been a major threat for decades, although much of the modern Western world has been oblivious due to the lack of instantaneous news coverage. Many readers of this blog probably have only vague memories of the Korean conflict. Read some history, and also attend to more current events.

In the early 80s, a KAL flight was shot down by a Russian fighter pilot for straying out of bounds, close to Sakhalin Island. Hundreds of civilians were killed. International crisis. How many readers of this blog recall that?

Mid '70s, a South Korean/US forces tree-trimming party at the DMZ was attacked with axes by North Korean soldiers. I recall this because my husband was serving a hardship tour at the DMZ at that time. International crisis. For days, my husband had standing orders to be ready to destroy all the ordnance on the compound at a moment's notice. He was XO (executive officer, second in command), and his CO was in Seoul having a nervous breakdown [alcohol detox].

Korea is a marvelous country. It's beautiful, rugged, and inspiring. The people are resilient and have an admirable Confucian ethic, and a strong desire to unite the peninsula again into one Korea--a driving force which never occurs to most North Americans.

Korea is home to a justly proud people, inheritors of an ancient and powerful culture. Trump is clueless here, as he is always and everywhere. If he listens to his advisors, he will stay the hell away from Korea, for all our sakes. It's a thorny issue he will never be able to resolve.
