Today's Rachel Maddow Show calls on our leaders to hold the Bush administration responsible for their lies and criminal activities.

I don't usually embed two videos from Rachel's show in one day, but this is a whole different kettle of fish.

THIS is one of those things that I feel very passionately about.

We absolutely MUST hold the Bush administration accountable for the abuses of those prisoners, for the lies they told to get us into that war, and for innumerable other criminal activities that have been undertaken behind the cover of media darkness these last eight years.

I have been told more then a few times that we need to stop perseverating about the past and move on. That what happened yesterday is not nearly as important as what happens tomorrow.

And to that I say bullshit!

What happened yesterday has huge consequences for how we conduct ourselves tomorrow.

If this administration actually gets away with these incredible deceptions, these blatant misuses of power, and the running roughshod over our Constitution, then our country will limp slowly into the future knowing that the Bush administration made us their bitch and we did not have the balls to do anything about it!

What is to stop the next megalomaniac, or Svengali puppet master, from pulling the same crap on the next generation of Americans? If we do not hold them accountable now, then when?

Is this another thing we pass onto our children? Just like we have done with the deficit?

You know when my daughter was born I looked into her beautiful blue eyes and promised to make the world a better place for her. In the last eight years I have been embarrassed by the kind of world she has had to live in. But I have not forgotten what I said, and I am working hard to live up to my promise. I only ask that my new President, the heavily Democratic Senate, and this new Congress help me to keep my word.

This time I just cannot do it alone.

  1. I so totally agree with you. I have posted on this at least twice on my blog. I think it is something that must be addressed and have been encouraged by the fact that we now have a true majority coming into congress now that may be able to do something this next session.

Thanks for your input and your moral outrage over such a total failure of the Bush administration.

  4. EXACTLY! Maybe if Nixon had been punished and not pardoned Bush/Cheney and gang would have thought twice about some of the crap they have pulled. We have seen recently that people in high places who think they are above the law is more prevalent then in the past. If Bush/Cheney/Palin/Blagojevich get away with their unethical and illegal actions, where will it stop? Looking the other way only encourages them.

    I agree wholeheartedly.
I lived through Watergate and was OUTRAGED when Nixon was pardoned.
And then the Republicans had the nerve to impeach Clinton for lying about sex.

The Republicans are like a bratty child. They have no self control and are more emboldened every time they get away with something.

That is secondary actually to the war crimes that Bush, Cheney and whoever else may be involved.
These are very serious crimes that should never ever be excused or ignored.
I hope that if,We The People, do not hold this administration accountable, that we do not stand in the way of the rest of the world if they choose to.
