It was only a matter of time before the manufactured controversy over stolen climate emails made its way halfway around the world to Wasilla, Alaska.
The right-wing misinformation machine is in full swing. And that machine doesn't have its final cylinder cranking until Sarah Palin jumps into the fray, which she did today in a mistake-riddled, anti-clean energy Op-Ed published in The Washington Post.
I addressed this issue two posts down but I have to admit that Rep. Markey does it with much more authority, and peppers it with biting indictments against Palin's politically motivated persecution of the scientists researching climate change and the dismissal of their findings.

I know we should get mad, but we shouldn't get mad at the commanders, the Alaska military treated President Obama with the utmost respect. If EVERYONE ignored the whole thing like she didn't exist it would be more profound imo. I think Sarah thrives when everyone creates a scene just for her. She would be very disappointed if everyone ignored her. It would make her worry... hehe

This is just like the Bridge to Nowhere and other related fabrications. I've been following Sarah since late summer '08, just before the nomination, and pretty much through to the end of that year that were numerous statements by her confirming her position that global warming was, in part, man-made.
ReplyDeleteShe created a Climate Task Force on this problem, and if you go to that site, it is peppered with terms like 'mitigation' - as apposed to 'adapt' which refers to the 'natural' forces at play -- and addresses the man-made part and what Alaska has to do to 'reduce its carbon foot print.' It's even in the salutory intro that Palin signs herself.
All of a sudden, this fall and winter she latches onto the internet politico screed that it is not man-made, just to suck up to her base.
But this is contradicted by her OWN task force! Her own statements as governor!
She was 'for' global warming until she was, you guessed it, 'against' it.
But none of her supporters appear to bother with the small matter of actually KNOWING anything about this woman's record and the mass of contradictions within.
Like many have said before, Sarah is stuck in teenager years. This hat. It reflects her trying to look cute, smart, cool, since she's had (debatable) her facelift. It's a teenage girl's "girls just wanna have fun" or "I want to wear something outrageous and flirty today" thing.

She then embarrasses herself by injecting her suggestions on climate and crisis situations without any credentials in these areas. If she said she was a brain surgeon, I wonder if her fans would believe her. Some would probably line up for scheduled appointments.
Nothing like Olbermann to put Miss Wasilla in her place. She is off her rockers! She is merely feeding this conspiracy theory and riling-up the deniers. She's looking pretty stupid right now...this just adds one more nail in her coffin (I hope!)

ReplyDeleteYou took the words right out of my mouth. It took me a minute to recognize the style, but you better believe that her army green, military- style hat isn't an accident.
Too bad she couldn't bother to put a hat on the little one, too. Is that snow in the background? Do they not believe in putting a coat on that baby in the winter?
I get the distinct impression that the attempt to undo this baby didn't end with the wild ride. Taking him out into the cold without a coat and hat, parading him through crowds of people during the height of cold and flu season...I am only left to shake my head in wonder and disgust.
What is going on here? Is she hoping he will take ill and succumb so that she can be rid of him and at the same time soak up sympathy for the loss of a child? Ugly thought, I know, but it is obvious that Sarah and Todd are tempting fate where this child's health and life are concerned.
Plus, there certainly are some really "stupids" out there falling prey to the "Madonna/Whore routine"...and that's exactly what it is, has been, and will continue to be...a subtle, and so far, successful Madonna/Whore routine--naughty monkey shod mama carrying her baby boy--it appeals to the palinbots, and they don't even realize the reason why.
This is all orchestrated, folks...those with a firm grip on the baton are the ones that need to be completely exposed, called to task and made to pay the piper once and for all. Keep in mind that, as far as these folks are concerned, SP is dispensable--she is only useful so long as she has the appeal required to hoodwink their targeted audience.
Has anyone else noticed that every time someone or something else dominates the news (currently the Tiger Woods scandal) Sister Sarah comes out with some kind of outrageous statement to turn the spotlight back on to her? It's especially noticeable when President Obama is stealing her thunder. She has never forgiven him for winning the election and she is so jealous it makes her head explode.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that these statements are completely inaccurate and make her look like a moron is completely beside the point. She knows it's nonsense as well as the rest of us do. All she wants--needs--is for the attention to be on her and she will say or do whatever it takes to get it.
I find it amusing that her perception of herself is so grossly skewed because she's created this bubble of a world where only those who adore her are allowed to be included. She doesn't seem to realize that her fans represent such a tiny segment of our population.
I would love for her to run for president against Obama, and I truly believe she is foolish enough to think she could take him on.

A little off topic: In local Chicago news a suburban man was arrested today for making threats against the Dupage County States Attorney. The man called his office a few times and said things like "his day is done". The secret service is involved and they are also looking at the possibility he made threats against the president. I know a whole bunch of people who have made WAY worse threats against a different public official. Why aren't the police knocking at their door?!?

My 80 year old mother is from the old country and doesn't understand all the nuances of politics, or all the verbage, but she sure understands visuals! When my mother saw Palin carting her kids all over the place, and doing her pageant walk and wave during the elections last year, she voted for Obama.

OMG Anon@6:18am you may be right about Trig! My blood went cold at the thought, but it makes perfect sense. She is exposing that poor child to every possible disease carting him through these crowds and exposing him to very brutal weather and not properly dressed. If she is doing this in public what must that poor child be going through in private? I am sure he is not being properly fed. Are there no responsible adults traveling with the media whore? Apparently not, and they will be an accessory should something happen to little Trig.

Sarah and her followers are not intelletual people by a long shot. They are incapable of dealing with complex issues which our president and indeed the world is facing. They are trained seals (no offense to seals intended) at a side show. How long will this last? Unfortunately, I don't think any of us know.
It might not be a bad idea to resort to dirty tricks of the right now. Such as, catching Palin on camera being herself. Especially being abusive toward Trig on camera. ReplyDeleteis the Pew Research PDF of its analysis of the emails and the issue. It's not real technical but it is 15 pages. Bottom line is, Pew found no real issue.
Probably the most significant part of the climate gate lie is that the original data that is claimed to be deleted, in fact still exists in its original form in the institutions that collected that data.
No research group is going to turn over its original and only copies of its data and let somebody else walk out with it.
What they do is publish their own data, and allow other reachers access to their data.
The CRU compiled their data from various sources, trying to interpolate data collected under varying criteria into a single data group. They then deleted their copies of the original data, which they should not have done. But no data has actually been lost or altered.
