Lawrence O'Donnells' epic takedown of Teabagger, and deadbeat dad, Joe Walsh.
As a divorced father myself, who gladly paid my child support payments on time and in full, I share O'Donnell's disgust with Rep. Joe Walsh.
I cannot tell you how angry it makes me to hear politicians use children to make a political point while refusing to support policies, or social programs, that they so desperately need.
How could we possibly trust a politician who does not even care about his OWN kids enough to make sure they are well cared for, to help protect ours?

We can't.
Here you go Gryph, here's a bit more about Sarah Palinski and the parade from a local paper.

No kidding. My brother made his too, come hell or high water. One period of time, he was unemployed & made an informal arrangement with his ex to lower them for the duration, till he got a job. He then repaid with interest. AND didn't bitch about it.
ReplyDeletePlus, if he had just blown off the payments, the state (Nebraska) would have come after him & garnished wages, or tax refunds. How does this Walsh bozo get away with this? Methinks the IRS needs to take a careful look at his income vs expenditures for those years. Probably hiding income.
Way OT, but funny: just got back from Borders; they are awash with Sarah's book, piled everywhere, but no-one's buying. Gave my son & I a good laugh.
Funny how those Tea-Baggers are across-the-board assholes and piss-poor parents.
ReplyDeleteIt's more than a political phenomenon, it appears to be a psychological disorder.
I've heard so many men criticize "welfare moms" who actually had children being supported by welfare. If they took responsibility for the children they created - their ex-wives or former lovers would not need to rely on the state to support their children.
ReplyDeleteanother pretty boy consertive. Who are the people that elected these puritans? I hope their glad they got him elected, sure is a great father figure. Let all of Illinois father's follow in his footsteps.Such a role model

ReplyDeleteThe mindset of people like Walsh is all about not giving money to the ex-wife. I've heard it over and over again from men who claim they would gladly pay more but not if it means giving it to the ex -
My own first husband was court-ordered to maintain the kids dental but he refused to pay any of the bills I submitted saying he didn't know the dentist I'd chosen or could trust that I would care for their dental hygiene at home (so why should he pay?)
My kids came back from weekend visits with so many anecdotes about how their dad would make comments like "I'll give you anything you need while you're in my house but I'm not making that woman comfortable on my money." He even bought clothes for them they weren't allowed to bring home.
Like too many men he thought of our marriage was a game he didn't win and he could never wrap his head around the concept that child-support was for the kids. His kids.
Really, it's all about resentment and control and not about the kids at all.
I feel for Laura Walsh as I've shared her nightmare.
It's really only too obvious to point out that he would be against funding for Planned Parenthood, sex education in the schools, the WIC program to help women, infants and children with adequate nutrition, etc.
ReplyDeleteI really hate him and the whole gang of Teabaggers.
What do you think his stand is on free Viagra on health plans?
A Very Angry Wild Tortoise
He's beyond a Hypocrite!
ReplyDeleteHe's become a TeaPocrite!
Count on Tea Baggers to ALWAYS Lower the bar!
Walsh should be so ashamed.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was about Joe Walsh the singer from the Eagles! (And figured, "yeah, typical of a rock star.")
ReplyDeleteI had to turn off an interview I was watching with this Teabagger nutjob, as I was getting so frustrated with how he'd "answer" every question with a canned speech about something not at all related--and recognized it as a word for word rant that I'd heard Sarah Freaking Palin deliver somewhere just days before.
Do the Koch brothers simply send a fax to these fools, instructing them to say exactly as follows, whenever asked a question by a reporter?
Ugggghhhh! Anyway, having turned to a different channel, I didn't catch the jagoff's name...being why I thought something bad about some other person who may be a terrific father...despite looking like a deranged old time rocker.
We need a Troll from "Troll Hunter"...
ReplyDeleteThey only smell and eat "Christians"...
well, my own father, left my mom when I was 17 years old (oldest of six kids) back in early 1970.
ReplyDeleteHis child support was something like $300 a month and he was supposed to provide health insurance and pay for our university tuition.
I never saw a dime for my healthcare, even before he left (I paid for my own healthcare through Planned Parenthood and paid for my own dental work). I also paid EVERY dime for my own higher education.
While my mom was struggling (at one point she was living in a mobile home with no running water and I and a sister would go out at winter hunting for freaking rabbits to have something for dinner and cracking ice in a creek to bring buckets of water to flush the toilets and have water to boil for washing and doing dishes, not a mile away from where HE was living in a luxury gated community).
I know deadbeat dads. They are the scum of the earth.
A Brilliant piece...I read somewhere that possibly 4-5% of the population are socio or psychopaths...I bet the figure is higher in the Repug ranks.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant piece. I read somewhere that 4-5% of us are socio or psychopaths...I bet the repug ranks have a much higher percentage...this guy is one.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, if this guy were a minority, he'd have been "rounded up" by now, and lost his job because he was sitting in jail for not paying his child support arrears. Give me a fucking break. *smh*
ReplyDeleteJoe Walsh Child Support: Wife Laura's Court Filing Released
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/29/joe-walsh-child-support-w_n_913631.html?ref=tw
There are definitely cases of men (and women) falling behind on child support payments because they have been laid off or experienced other personal financial crises. For those people, I have real sympathy, and hope that their ex-spouses are somewhat understanding.
ReplyDeleteBUT...when you run on "fiscal responsibility" and it turns out you are that far behind in your child support payments...you have no business being in office.
The Tea Party is FULL OF SHIT about fiscal responsibility. They put up candidate after candidate who are scoundrels in their personal lives, including people like Christine O'Donnell who lives off the political donations she raises despite never having won a single election.
In his defense, Joe Walsh did offer to get his kids jobs in the Stride Rite factory in Vietnam.
ReplyDeleteThese people are hypocrites, almost all of them. The man who won the State House in my district claims to speak for "Tea Party values of fiscal responsibility." He is known in the county for a bunch of failed businesses, as well as a bankruptcy. He got in because of low voter turnout.
ReplyDeletePeople, do what you can to get out the vote in 2012. It's not enough to win the national elections. One reason why things suck so bad right now is because the rightwingers swept the local and state elections, too. They are bringing this country to its knees.
Joe Walsh has been ranting and raving about the US paying its bills and the debt ceiling; he needs to take care of his own and get off the stage just like his sister $arah Failin. Both are deadbeat losers.
ReplyDelete9:29 pm. I love it - a TeaPocrite! I hope that his constituents know about this and decide that they do not want a "dead-beat dad" representing their district anymore!
ReplyDeleteI had many quibbles with my ex, but am proud to say he was always generous with his child support, paid it gladly, and was willing to pay more than the court-ordered amount. (Not to me, this was for a child from a previous relationship.)
ReplyDeleteExcellent post, Gryphen.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this guy will be run out of town, as he should be.
I'd like to think that people didn't know about his deadbeat dad status when voting for him, but we're talking about the hypocrites' party here.
Then again, how did he get so far in the political arena without this coming to light? Don't they run a basic police/court report before people can run for a higher office?
Lawrence O’Donnell Bans Dead Beat Teabagger Dad Joe Walsh From The Last Word
ReplyDeleteLawrence O’Donnell absolutely savaged Walsh for the hypocrisy of daring to lecture the American people about their own spending while he has neglected his own duties as a father to three children.
Would you trust your finances to a man who won’t even provide for his own children? Probably not, but that is exactly what we are doing when let tea partiers like Joe Walsh have a say in the debt negotiations.
Walsh should not only be banned from television, but he should be publicly shamed until he lives up to his responsibility as a man. Not surprisingly, Walsh is also a family values hypocrite on abortion. This is Rep. Walsh’s position, “I am strongly Pro-Life –without exception–and believe in the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Consequently, I also stand against legislation that promotes human cloning, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia and the rationing of health care to the elderly.”
Rep. Walsh is pro-life until the baby leaves the womb, then don’t ask him to foot the bill. Well you can ask, but he certainly feels no obligation to pay. Walsh is a living breathing disgrace to all men, the real men who stand up and take responsibility for their actions. The men who know what the right choice is between paying your child support or going on vacation to Italy.
Joe Walsh isn’t a man. Just like all the other tea partiers in the House, he is a little child who is throwing a tantrum because they can’t have their way. Just as a real patriot would never let America default, a real man would never force the mother of his children to take him to court to get him to live up to his responsibilities.
Rep. Joe Walsh shouldn’t just be banned from television. He should be banned from even calling himself a man.
Joe Walsh is a disgrace to all men, and I feel truly sorry that his children have to call him dad.

Joe Walsh won by 300 votes. Most of the victorious teabaggers won by small margins. Progressives (formerly libruls) who did not vote in 2010 must accept partial responsibility for this mess and vow to get off their collective duffs and get out the vote for Democrats in 2012. The Repubs have been working to thwart Obama since the day he was inaugurated.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed LOD's take down of Joe the Deadbeat.
Joe Walsh will be a One Term Wonder if there is any justice.
Walsh should be so ashamed.
ReplyDelete9:42 PM
Yeah, that's also a problem with the 'baggers. sane people have a sense of shame. Look @ $carah. I mean, hate to say it, but Toad was right - she should never have associated herself with it. He's at least embarrassed and humiliated by the evidence that his wife is a laughingstock. After all, she's using the Palin name. But not $carah - she continues to perform very public oral-pedal insertions.
@10:01 p.m. Yeah, it's funny, a lot of those big hair, hard rockin' bad boys are pretty good dads. Word is, Gene Simmons (KISS) is like the ultimate family guy.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand- a disproportionate number of the uberconservative dudes are either incestuous pedophiles, wife beaters, or johns.
You need to check out what comments people are leaving under his youtube videos! We need to get this information out...maybe as a whole we can shame him into paying his child support!

ReplyDelete"One reason why things suck so bad right now is because the rightwingers swept the local and state elections, too. "
Amen! Look at all the horrific damage that the latest crop of right-wing governors has been doing to our states. Look at what some right wing school boards have been trying to do to our educational system in some states. While many people pay attention to the national elections, sometimes the local elections are even more important. US Senators and Representatives can be balanced by members of the other side and often their damage can be mitigated, but if you've got a right wing governor with a right wing majority behind him/her, you're sunk!
Even if we're able to take back some of the governorships in this country, it will be a long, difficult process to reverse the destruction they've caused during their terms.
EVERY election is an important one and, if you don't vote, you're letting down your neighbors, your friends and your family!
The gal subbing for Rachel Maddow also did a brilliant take-down of deadbeat Walsh an hour later.
ReplyDeleteJoe Walsh is a despicable farce of a human being and I am so glad that Lawrence O'Donnell performed the verbal flaying of him that I witnessed last night. Fortunately, the story is starting to be picked up by other media as well and Walsh may get the national and very public takedown that he deserves.
ReplyDeleteHow arrogant and disgusting that he preaches about fiscal responsibility and not burdening his children with debt when he callously refused to live up to his OWN obligations and pay for their basic needs. He also failed to pay his obligations towards his mortgage and the bank took back his house. When he started in Congress, he refused the health insurance plan in a very public display, all while his current wife needed that coverage for surgery she required due to a pre-existing condition.
Yet, somehow, while ignoring the legal and moral obligations to his own family, he was able to take a girlfriend on trips to Mexico and Italy and lend his campaign $35,000.
How DARE he tell anyone how to deal with their finances!!! I SO want to see him taken away in handcuffs!
He always struck me as very full of himself.
ReplyDeleteI hope these amateurs somehow get their comeuppance.
Weenie-boy, not that there's anything wrong w/that, but don't try to tell me about things you know nothing about yourself.
"Same problems as an average guy"?
Average failure as a dad is all.
A point that should be being made and isn't.
ReplyDeleteToday's middle aged people will have to spend more of their potential life savings to help care for their parents 1) because their parents life savings were lost in 2000-2002 and again frm 2008 and continuing; and 2) because of decreases in SS and Medicare payments coupled with increases in medical cost and even an average level of annal inflation.
That means that their children, today's young adults will inherit next to nothing and have an even greater burden to bear in caring for their parents.
In the next two generations there will be no "wealth" left for 90% of the population of this country and no means of acquiring and accumulating it with the country still trillions of dollars in debt and not paying any of it off.
I've seen Joe Walsh of late and he didn't impress me at all...too impressed with himself is what always comes across on the screen.
ReplyDeleteI'm so damned glad we have MSNBC to call out these assholes. Thank you, Lawrence! The guy should go down - hope this matter gets lots of national attention whenever the guy tries to get a spot on any of the talk shows.
Gryph...
ReplyDeleteI love lawrence and i thank you for posting this.
What a scumbag...i knew i hated him before when he was ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS blasting our president in such a stupid, teabagging way...
This comes as no surprise sadly...
Keep up the good work!

ReplyDeleteAs Bill Moyers says, we are not in a race war but class war. The wealthy want everything privatized, especially education. Then only the wealthy will be educated. The other uneducated, unionless 90% will be forced to work for peanuts and be constantly in debt to the banks, paying exorbitant interest.
If people voted their interests, 90% would vote Democratic. But, as that other Bill often says, "We are a stupid country."
I love you for posting this Jesse! I, too, was absolutely DISGUSTED - but not surprised to hear about this hypocrite using his children to promote his dogma (Read: I can't STAND having a Black Man being the President of the United States).
ReplyDeleteAs a divorced Dad who has struggled to provide your (amazing!) daughter with all the love and support (ALL types) that you've been able, I can imagine that this angers you to no end.
And please...PLEASE don't stop bringing the TRUTH to us - and to the naive masses.
Don't let the Bastards get you down...I have and will ALWAYS believe in you. : )
Cheers,
Tata Ala!
Bravo, Lawrence! This mystery money issue is something that needs to be reported out.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to suspect that each tea party movement member has the illusion of district support because their campaigns were wone with serious mystery money from outside the district.
For example were any of the 60 or so tp-wizards paid to attend those ALEC classes. I suspect they were. Handsomely, not unlike our own vaguely bearded (love the phrase) Joe Miller.
I think Walsh is due for an audit from the state of Illinois and the IRS. BTW, what did Joe Walsh do before he ran for office? I find nothing on that. Nexis here I come.
