Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Well it looks like Sarah Palin IS still making a difference.
I'm 29 years old, and since I was 18 have been a registered Republican. 2004 was my first election and I voted for George W. Bush. Followed by McCain in 2008. But in 2012, after I saw how my party stayed more like the party of Palin and less like the party of Eisenhower, I thought that I couldn't, in good faith, vote for Romney. So, as a registered Republican, I voted for President Obama, who I actually thought was doing a good job. In 2014, I voted for Mary Landrieu for Senate here in Louisiana and actually hoped the Democrats would maintain control of the Senate. I had hoped to see a change, a shift away from the tea party in the GOP, but with Cruz, Walker, Jindal, Paul and company running in 2016, I realize that won't happen this time or anytime soon. So today, I received my newly updated voter registration card which made it official-I'm now a democrat. I even donated $50 to the Hillary Clinton campaign in celebration of my new found home. In reality, I probably had been a Democrat for the last couple of years, as I actually consider myself a fairly liberal person. But it's now official. So I can't wait to start working on behalf of the Democratic Party and electing good Democrats from here on out. Clinton 2016!
The above is from a contributor to Reddit.
I think it is hard for those of us who spend a lot of time on this site to remember that the Republican party was not always quite the way it is today.
I mean sure there were always those on the fringe who were proudly racist, unabashedly anti-immigrant, and incredibly suspicious of the government, but nobody really listened to them.
But then Palin came along, and using her hot librarian image, made it all seem much more attractive and palatable.
The next thing you know the inmates are overrunning the asylum, and we have Ted Cruz reading from "Green Eggs, and Ham" on the Senate floor.
But I have always felt that if the radical right got their way, and actually were given the chance to govern, that it would not take too long for the more reasonable members of the Republican party to either rise up against them and start tossing them overboard or to leave the party altogether.
The commenter up above is clearly the latter.
Today we see a Republican party that is clearly at war with itself, and that means someday Sarah Palin may end up being seen as the catalyst that exposed the cracks in the GOP facade which could usher in its demise or its restructuring.
In other words, and try not to allow this to make your head explode, someday her contribution to the political landscape might be seen as positive. Though not purposefully of course.
The Democratic party once claimed politicians like Gov. George Wallace and many others who would be right at home in the tea party movement.
ReplyDeleteTalk at the pond is of yet another political party, but not the tea party, whosr brand is ruined, nor the constitutional conservatives party. They have found a new home that tk and pbp having been promoting, but I don't recall it's name. The pond scum feel that the GOP has become too moderate.
Among mixed reviews on Sarah's FB regarding the mom
ReplyDeletewho slapped her son during the riot in Baltimore, there was
this comment.
Stephen Browne Now can someone slap Sarah Palin!
Made my day!
That is what Sarah should have done with her kids during the party brawl... knocked the shit out of all of them.
DeleteThat is what Sarah should have done at the party brawl. Knocked the shit out of all her drunk kids...
DeleteThe doctor should have looked at sarah when she was born and slapped Sally.
DeleteLook at what has happened in the Florida legislature over the past week. That's what happens when the insane take over and try to run the asylum. Ideologues are more interested in maintaining purity than in governing. Everything becomes a litmus test and nothing gets done.
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying Sarah Palin's relative silence. She hasn't appeared on Fox since the end of January. Her latest facebook post is so garbled that it's hard to imagine her taking a single class in journalism, let along getting a degree in the subject. She has bombarded her fans with fund raising letter for her pac, and even the fans are starting to resent it. Looking at the Republican candidates, they have already formed their campaigns and hired staff, not to mention collected lots of donations. Sarah is not even included in a poll of possible Republican candidates any more. If she is, she is close to the bottom along with undecided and I don't know. It doesn't take this much time to plan a wedding. Even Bristol, playing housewife and mother of a new youthful combat vet posts more photos. And, those photos are really disturbing if the most important part about establishing a home with Dakota is her shoe shelf. I should be enjoying the silence.
ReplyDeleteYes her recent FB post proved that there is NO way that woman graduated from college. I think it's probably her most incoherent yet! My guess is RAM is gone (no PAC funds to pay her). Sarah's next PAC report should be interesting....
DeleteI saw that appearance on Hannity and it was basically in response to the bad reviews she got (from Republicans!) over her rambling, incoherent 'speech' in Iowa. She glared and snarled into the camera, even Hannity seemed to just want to get the 'interview' over. Really, that's all it was. A repair her image interview, but it didn't. Then she told a real whopper! She told Hannity that the teleprompterbroke during her big acceptance speech in 2008, but that was panned by Republican operatives who were there that night. Yeah, she's been quiet. I really think she's been ostracized from Fox. Good riddance.
DeleteMe too.
DeleteI'd only be glad to hear from or of her again would be if she and Todd were indicted.
9:28 -
DeleteBut, but, but...I thought only Muzzlin Commie Soshalist Usurpers from Kenya used teleptompters!
My awakening came during the Clinton administration. I had been raised Republican in Indiana and started voting in 1960. Yes, I voted for Nixon the first time I voted. But, I was not unhappy when Kennedy won. Over the years it was sometimes hard for me to decide, but my upbringing always ended up with me casting my vote for the GOP.
ReplyDeleteTHEN, Ken Starr and the Whitewater investigation came along. All the millions of dollars of tax payer money spent by that Congress doing anything they could to "get" Clinton disgusted me. What else could they have been doing that was good? In the end, they did get him -- for lying about Monica Lewinsky, but they lost me forever. Have not voted for a Repbublican since. Not even locally where they are as bad as all of them everywhere. But, I stayed registered as Republican just to drive the locals crazy. By then I had "come out" as an environmental activist fighting their desire to get the country's largest cement plant approved for our little Hudson River town of about 8,000 people. (It was not approved) So, they knew I was "one of them" on paper, but only on paper and it was sort of fun for me. When I moved one town over I made it official because I had to re-register. The way the party is now makes me so sad because I do believe that the GOP used to stand for something good and that it was good to have both parties standing up for their beliefs and being open to compromise. No longer. And, I am scared for our country in a very big way.
I'm glad you saw it that way. As a democrat, I was beyond pissed that my kids had to learn what oral sex is and that it is, indeed, sex. What made me proud was how Hilary conducted herself through it all.
DeleteI think it's way past time we move on from Sarah Palin. She has no influence anymore (if any - very, very minor) in politics or entertainment.
ReplyDeleteThe one Alaskans should be paying attention to now is the idiot and liar, Amy Demboski. She and Jerry Prevo (Baptist Church in Anchorage) are implying that her foe in the run off election (May 5th) supports or approves incest.
She says she heard him say so on a radio show a long time ago and then said she didn't hear it herself. The ungodly man, Jerry Prevo, pushed the same thing, but was told by one of his 'followers', but says that he didn't hear it himself.
If I were Ethan Berkowitz I'd sue the fuck out of each one of them after the race has been completed!
Amy is going to lose this Anchorage Mayor's race and she knows it! This is suppose to help her win? She's as much an idiot as Sarah Palin proved herself to be in Alaska!
Amy girl - you are pure evil! She professes herself to be a Christian! All she makes me want to do is barf!
Remember to cast your ballot on May 5th Anchorage folks. I voted absentee and mailed it off a couple of days ago - felt so good!
VOTE FOR ETHAN BERKOWITZ!
Would I let you down?
DeleteStay tuned.
You never do, Gryphen! Thank you from 7:30 AM!
DeleteSP doesn't care if she split the party or ruined the reputation of the GOP party -- she wanted to make a name for herself, in any way she could and can. Morality, ethics mean nothing -- as long as she gets noticed. She has a mental illness.
ReplyDeleteWe are eternally grateful to the 29 year old and to America for seeing through that fake retard from the last frontier who needs a ghost writer, teleprompter, notes written on her palms and someone sticking their hands up her rectum moving her mouth.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin's winks, tongue rolling and darting in and out of her lips fake glasses and fake breasts only certified that she is a phony uneducated narcissist.
We are also grateful to the photographer who took the picture of Sarah Palin coming out of that Anchorage exercise studio without her makeup caked on her old wrinkly pastey pale white face. It truly was a revealing picture showing America what Sarah Palin truly looks like behind closed doors and inside her Wasilla compound.
We all need to pat ourselves on our backs for sending Sarah Palin back to Wasilla and sending Barack Obama to the White House.
Hear hear
DeleteIf Immoral Minority didn't tell us that was Sarah Palin I would have thought that old woman was looking for handout.
DeleteTotally agree! So happy I voted for President Obama - for both terms! He's done/doing an outstanding job too - in spite of all the crap he has had to put up with from the right!
Deletehaving grown up during the eisenhower years, i must say that i am increasingly coming to a handfull of uncomfortable conclusions about the republican party: first, that eisenhower may well have been an anomaly,
ReplyDeletethat it became increasingly racist under nixon (recall the southern strategy")
that the religious right nutjobs have taken ascendence under reagan
and that it is now not only the party of racist, intolerant greedheads, but that it is dangerous and maybe even evil.
it needs to be destroyed and the quickest way to bring about its destruction is to put it in power.
once the american people realize the full sweep of the republican world view they will vote those people out of office so quickly it will make your head spin, leaving nothing but a smoking cinder of the party of lincoln.
i am supporting that texas fool rafael ted cruz, he will bring the roof down on them faster than anyone i can imagine.
They are already in office, controlling both houses of Congress. I don't hear any great groundswell (except among those of us who have always known what they were) to vote them out of office. The gerrymandered districts in many states ensures that they will continue to control the house, and possibly the senate, for years to come. Without a Democratic president to 'check and balance' their insanity, they will destroy this country long before they can be voted out.
DeleteRemember, we thought the Tea Party folk would show the world their craziness, and they'd be laughed (and voted) out of town. Didn't happen that way, did it?
I'm with Pogo. The rascist ignorant corrupt corporate servants are already in power and they are destroying our country.
DeleteYes, Sarah's contribution to the Repugs seems to be emerging as something between a suppository and enema.
ReplyDeleteGotta admit Sarah Palin and John McCain had everybody fooled until Sarah thought her shit doesn't stink and was interviewed by Katie "The Perky One" Couric. Since that horrific day for Sarah it has been downhill.
ReplyDeleteI blame the Republican "leadership." Surely, there were Republicans who were appalled by the GOP VP candidate in 2008. As I recall Colin Powell was only one to mention what a poor choice she was. And, I guess out of respect for McCain (who deserves none), they let her babble on after the election on Fox. A thinking GOP would have shut her down. Instead, because they hated Obama so much, they let her ramble on and then did nothing when the Tea Baggots reared their stupid heads because they too hated the Affordable Care Act. And then when the Baggots got elected to Congress, Boehner needed their support and so made an idiot like One-L Bachmann, chair of the Intelligence Committee. Instead of calling the RWNJs out on their stupidity (not to mention their racism), they allowed them to spew their hateful rhetoric and went along with them on congressional actions like voting on defeating Obamacare for the zillionth time (so all of the precious RWNJs could be on record voting against it) and shutting down the government and saying nothing when their candidates made ridiculous, stupid, nonfactual statements about rape, climate change, women, gays, immigrants, and the 47%.
ReplyDeleteAnd it continues. Where are the leaders calling out the lunatic governor in Texass who is summoning the National Guard to protect Texasses from the US Army?
And, of course, where are the press? (But that's a rant for another day.)
Americans especially need to vote Republicans out of office across the nation - not put new Republicans in office throughout the country - and to pay close attention for whom they cast their votes!
DeleteIt is also interesting to note that the ballots no longer reflect the candidate's party affiliation. So, pay even closer attention and become more knowledgeable of each candidate before going to your voting location to cast your ballot!
I would also suggest that we need to work harder at getting Democrats, Non Partisan and Independents out to vote throughout the country.
Just look at the mess the Republicans have gotten us in throughout the country, in our states and cities and throughout the world!
McCain, McConnell, Boehner, etc. should be hung for the nasty deeds they've done to the poor and middle class. They assuredly do NOT represent me!!
Plus, they have pushed racism and division due to President Obama being in office. Fuck them! Do I show I absolutely detest them? Oh, it is so true.
I vote Absentee and love using this method which is available to all voters. (It should be noted I began doing so because of becoming handicapped making it more difficult to get out and about.)
As I mark my ballot, I use my computer and pull up each candidate, review them, their party, how they voted on various issues that are of interest to me, etc.
It truly is a slick way to go and I recommend it to everyone if they don't have time to follow the candidates - on all levels - national, state and local.
It's so important for each of us to speak out and vote!!!
CBS morning show was covering Abbot's decision to call out the TX National Guard as tho it was a legitimate story and not the tinfoil hat brigade they should have recognized.
DeleteAnonymous8:53 AM "I vote Absentee and love using this method which is available to all voters."
Delete---------------------------------
I agree with everything you say, except that availability of absentee voting depends on the state.
In Michigan, you have to meet one of several specific criteria in order to be eligible to vote by absentee ballot:
-age 60 years old or older
-unable to vote without assistance at the polls
-expecting to be out of town on election day
-in jail awaiting arraignment or trial
-unable to attend the polls due to religious reasons
-appointed to work as an election inspector in precinct outside of your precinct of residence.
I agree 100% with researching every candidate and issue including those often unknown judges. I fill out a sample ballot to take to the polls with me.
What brought Sarah Palin down?
ReplyDeleteHer dysfunctional family showed the world that Sarah is a terrible mother?
Her lack of world knowledge?
Her lack of knowledge of the United States of America history?
Her trashy filthy mouth?
She doesn’t know what she reads?
Her underage promiscuous sexually active daughter?
Her high school quitter daughter showed how much attention and love Sarah gave to her children?
The time the Wasilla Hillbillies Saks 5th Ave shopping spree and then running off to Wasilla with the GOP's wardrobe was Sarah's downfall?
When Sarah and crew ransacked the Los Angeles gift suite like locusts?
All that money SarahPac collected and giving very little to politicians brought Sarah Palin down?
All the above?
All the above
Delete-Johnny Mac
There isn't any doubt that when Sarah was named as John McCain's VP, it gave that old guy's camipaign a shot in the arm. That lasted about two weeks, until Palin sat for two interviews. In spite of the note cards in her lap, she could not give an unscripted answer to Katie Couric's questions.
DeleteIt isn't WHAT do you read, it is really about how the person answers the question. A friend of ours was the editor of a small weekly publication but he took his job very seriously. Every morning, he read the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and a local newspaper. It was before the days of the internet or else he would have read more papers. He wanted to be informed.
It's like Barbara Walter's question, "What kind of tree would you like to be?" It's not the tree, it's how the person answers. Sarah was so rattled by a simple question that she sank herself. There was Sarah, passing herself off as a devout Christian and she forgot that she should be reading the Bible.
All of the other items just added to the list. In fact, the moment that Peggy Noonan heard Sarah speak, she said, "We are so screwed." Sarah Palin is so dumb that she doesn't realize that she is her own worst enemy. I judged her by her lack of knowledge. The fact that she was a poor parent, the Trig story sounded fake just added to her lack of credibility.

DeleteLet's also not forget THREE of the biggest and most heinous of $arah's infamous deeds:
1) Blood libel. Not only did $arah not show any regret or remorse, or express sincere sadness over the death of those shot in Arizona, she publicly humiliated herself FOREVER by using a term that is like a loaded gun for every Jewish person on the planet.
It was painfully obvious that Paylin, true to form for one so ignorant, would dare to claim herself a victim while 9 year old Christina Green lay dead in a funeral home, and Gabby Giffords and many others were shot or dying, or dead.
2) PALIN BRAWL. The rumors and 1st hand reports were bad enough, and then we had eye witness testimony of Tripp the grandchild brought to a drunken party, Bristol punching the host, Track accosting women with obscene propositions, and $arah screaming "Don't you know who we are"!
3) The FUC_ YOU Michael Moore poster, which Palin had the colossal stupidity to not only pose with, she actually put her signature on it.
If Caribou Braindead Barbie ever dares to run for office, I'd like to see her excuse herself for posing in public where children could see that poster with a big FUC_ YOU. Oh, and of course it had the same obligatory gun sights targeting Michael Moore on it.
Palin is her own worst enemy.
Somewhere, right now, someone has the goods on her in hard evidence, whether video of the Palin Brawl, proof of her cover up and why she quit as Governor, or her many other fuckups and screwups.
HOOOHAHH Barbie Palin!!!!!, we know that some day you will be made to sit the fuck down, and shut that disgusting pus filled hole you call a mouth.
and she went from the *blood libel..then the trip to isreal.she really rode that defense into the ground. fucking twat. may she burn in Hell.
DeleteSwath Palin made ignorance, hatred, corruption and greed acceptable. She "started it" and I for one will have no rest until we have finished her--made her absolutely voiceless, powerless and invisible.

I have no problem whatsoever giving Palin credit if it turns out that the hate, ignorance and divisiveness she elevated to the political mainstream ultimately ends up leading these very things to be culled from politics.
ReplyDeleteTrust me... I hate William F. Buckley! He was responsible for the resurgence of the Conservative movement. But even he the arch -conservative realized the Birchers were too extreme for the party and kicked them out. They are now known as the Teaparty, but their dogma is the same. The Koch brothers father was one of the founders of the John Birth society.Look where the crazy has lead to.The Republican party as it is today,is unrecognizable from the party of Eisenhower.Hell even today their Saint Reagan would be too liberal for the party. The Repug party has been taken over by Crazies.

Loving this post because I work for some very wealthy and fairly influential Repubs. They decided to withhold donations and support until the crazy TeaPots were brought under a bit of control too. I have giggled and chortled reading their letters and responses to fund-raising appeals from the GOP.
ReplyDeleteThe nicest and most politically informed of this bunch has even had some kind words to say about the President but she didn't go so far as to vote for him. Palin embarrassed their party with her idiocy and tacky shenanighans and I thank her for it every time she opens that rotgut mouth of hers.
They and others with a bit of coin in their pocket live to fight the dreaded 'taxes' and have long forgotten that their's wouldn't be so 'high' if they were willing to share the enormous profits of their company with the workers who were essential in creating it for them. Greed is a dangerous mind-bending trait and I've sadly watched a once fairly nice group of people become selfish and self-serving spoiled brats in my 25 years with them. Every once in a while I like to point out that everything would be so much better for them if we could get back to the 'Reagan' tax rates.
