Yes this absolutely needs to happen.

Courtesy of Politicususa:

Along with the recount, the American people deserve the details about Russia’s meddling in the presidential election. Once Trump takes office, those details will never be released, so it is up to President Obama to make the information public so that the American people can decide for themselves if the election was tampered with, and what if any role potential interference from Russia played in the presidential election.

It is easy to understand the President’s desire for a smooth transition of power, but there are many unanswered questions that have cast a shadow over our the safety and security of our electoral system. As President, Obama owes it to the American people to ease their concerns. The best way to help people understand what happened, and prevent it from happening again, is to make the information available to the public.

The request from the Senate Democrats is also important because it hints that a Democratic investigation is coming into the role that Russia played in helping Trump win the election. Democrats don’t have to be in the majority to conduct their own investigations, and the desire for more info from Intelligence Committee Democrats suggests that questions about the Trump/Russia connection aren’t going away anytime soon.

I personally do not see this as a partisan issue, but more of a national security issue.

If Russia can successful change the outcome of an election, then what are they capable of next?

I can guarantee you that if the shoe were on the other foot, and Russia had helped to get Hillary elected, the Republicans would be setting things on fire in the streets and investigation EVERYBODY evenly remotely associated with the election.

Donald Trump announces that he is stepping away from his business responsibilities to focus on being president. God help us all.

For anybody who believes a word of this I have a nice piece of swamp land I would like to sell you.

It's currently on fire but I am sure that if you blow real hard you just might be able to salvage yourself a nice piece of soggy, charred real estate.

By the way if the people who you hand your business over to happen to share your DNA, and rely on your name to maintain the lifestyle to which they have grown accustom, you are essentially still in charge of your business.

Nobody with half a brain is fooled by this.

Reports say that Sarah Palin is under consideration to join Trump's cabinet as the Secretary of Veteran's Affairs. Update!

Courtesy of The Hill:

Palin was a strong supporter of the president-elect throughout his campaign.

She endorsed the billionaire in January during his primary campaign, ahead of the Iowa state caucuses.

Reports surfaced earlier this month that Palin was a possibility to head the Interior Department.

Some lawmakers, however, questioned whether she would be up to speed on policy.

So is Palin up to speed on policies concerning the VA?

Of course not.

However she has a faux combat veteran son and an actual Medal of Honor winner for a son-in-law, so if she wants it she's a shoe in.

And since Trump seems to be choosing his cabinet based on how much damage they can each do to their prospective agencies, I have little doubt that he would gladly stick Palin into this position.

Don't think that the confirmation process will weed her out either, I cannot imagine the Democrats wasting too much of their time fighting this appointment when there are so many more troubling appointments to contend with.

Speaking of ole Dakota Meyer it appears that he might have been disinvited from a Marine Corps ball due to his vocal opposition to the Obama Administration:

On Nov. 12, the Tribunist website reported that Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer (who is also the son-in-law of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin) had been invited to the Marine Corps’ 241st birthday celebration at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, but his invitation was revoked by the Obama administration (or, at least, by a U.S. ambassador) at the last minute for political reasons, Snopes.com reported. Due to security issues inside Afghanistan, the ball was to be held inside the embassy itself.

“As arrangements were being finalized, however, the Medal of Honor recipient was told that he would not be able to come. Why? Because Meyer has been an outspoken critic of the Obama administration.

“Ambassador P. Michael McKinley ordered his chief of mission to “look into” the Medal of Honor recipient and, based on the report he was given about Meyer’s political views, decided he would not allow Meyer to attend the ball inside the embassy.”

Meyer told Snopes.com in a phone interview that “I was told he [McKinley] doesn’t like my position and comments on the administration, but those views are my right. Blocking access to the American embassy is his right as the ambassador.”

By the way Snopes says that this remains unproven, and it really does not sound like something the Obama Administration would condone, but none of that really doesn't matter because we are now in a new fact free reality it seems.

Besides with Donald Trump in the White House, and Sarah Palin heading up the VA, I am sure that Dakota will be allowed to attend any damn military ball, Right Wing kegger, or conservative frat party that he wants to attend.

Hoohah! (Or something like that.)

Update: Yep it looks like Palin's all in alright.

This nightmare is really never going to stop is it?

No matter how upset you are at the prospect of a Trump presidency I doubt you are as upset as Keith Olbermann.

So here's the thing, I am almost entirely in agreement with Olbermann on this rant. I also think that Trump is unhinged and mentally unfit to be the president.

However I am not quite as agitated as Olbermann is, which makes me kind of wonder is he perhaps a little TOO over caffeinated on this topic, or am I perhaps not freaked out enough?

What do you guys think?

Somebody set up a GoFundMe account for the Chicago craft store employee who was berated by that crazy Trump supporter.

Remember her?

This from the GoFundMe page:

On the night before Thanksgiving, I witnessed a white woman engage in a 30 minute racist rant (complete with yelling and cursing and repeated references to the fact that employees were African American) against the employees at a Chicago Michaels store - because she did not like that they offered her the option to purchase a re-usable shopping bag for her larger items. I was directly in front of this customer in line, I stopped at the exit to show my 2 year old a Christmas ornament and witnessed first-hand that the Michaels’ employees did nothing to provoke this verbal attack, and in fact treated all customers with professionalism and courtesy. I was so shocked by this unprovoked attack that I captured 17 minutes of it on video on my phone. I am starting this gofundme because I’d like to do something to try to make it up to the employee who was the main target of this racist attack. I’d like to show her that many people are horrified by how this woman treated her, and that we stand with her and appreciate her hard work. She inspired me because despite the hateful words that were being hurled in her direction, she stood in that entranceway calm and unmoving to protect her staff and customers. Her calmness calmed me and I saw a true leader, which in today’s world, is something to be rewarded. All proceeds from this gofundme will be given to this employee, who has three children, to try to make her busy holiday season brighter. In the current climate I believe it’s very important that we go out of our way to treat each other with dignity, kindness and politeness, and that we stand up for each other when we see people being mistreated.

***Thank you so much for everyone's kindness and generosity, I want to reiterate that the police were called, bystanders, including myself, were actively involved and the staff handled this flawlessly. There is so much you don't see in this video. Atleast ten customers stood next to the manager and waited for the police. That is what shocked the manager and myself the most, that people actually spoke up. You had to be there to see how the people were united. Thank you so much for helping me with this small gesture to thank this employee. Over 48,000 people have seen this video, if that many people gifted $1 this could be life-changing. I saw a hero and a leader in this manager. I was inspired by her. This incident started over a $1 re-usuable bag, but it's not new for African Americans and other POC. We have to stand up, if you can't speak up, at least be a witness and share your story.

As of this posting that account has already received more than $18,000 in donations.

However it appears that we may actually need more GoFundMe accounts because that lady is not finished taking out her Trump inspired wrath on defenseless store employees.

Jesus I can only imagine how much worse this will be when Cheeto Jesus actually takes office.

Conservative fake news sites have a new target, Elon Musk.

Courtesy of Quartz:

Many of the attacks on Musk begin with something factual: His businesses were built, legally, with the help of billions in government contracts and incentives for renewable energy and space transport. But they go on to accuse Musk of fraud and wasting taxpayer dollars; some compare him to a convicted felon. At least three conservative sites have run negative pieces about Musk—by a nonexistent writer named “Shepard Stewart”—that include “Elon Musk Continues to Blow Up Taxpayer Money With Falcon 9” and “Elon Musk: Faux Free Marketeer and National Disgrace.” Two later retracted the stories.

“There’s a very obvious precedent” for this, says Sam Jaffe, managing director of Cairn Energy Research Advisors. “That’s Hillary Clinton.”

Jaffe says that whoever is behind the attacks is aiming at Musk personally because they fear he could go into politics. He cited the allegations of fraud (emails) and negligence (Benghazi) levied at Clinton during the presidential campaign, charges that cemented the public’s perception of her as shady. “It’s the exact same thing as Musk. There’s a portion of the political spectrum that is scared to death of Musk as politician. They see him as a threat. They’re starting that process.”

Jesus these people are disgusting.

But hey if they can derail a juggernaut like Hillary Clinton, and we let them get away with it, then why wouldn't they go after somebody who may present a future challenge like Elon Musk?

And believe me, he really could be an unstoppable political force in a couple of years.

Millennials LOVE the guy, including my daughter who thinks he walks on water and that he is the future of America's progress with renewable energy, transportation, and space exploration.

Hopefully after what we saw with this last election her generation is going to be much more careful as to where they get their information.

Son of homeschooling mom sees first male Covergirl model on TV, homeschooling mom kind of loses it.

Courtesy of Homeschool Base:

Mommy, why doesn’t daddy wear makeup? This is the question my 6-year-old asked me on Friday afternoon. We were watching Countdown to Christmas on ABC, and a commercial came up in between watching Toy Story.

The first image is of a boy in a backwards hat with ink and black makeup. He narrates the commercial, but doesn’t reappear until the end. In the last few scenes, he is arching his back and holding his thighs next to six or so other girls. His appears to be the most feminine of all the poses. The tagline read, “Equal is beautiful.” The final image was branded with #LashEquality.

My son watched this commercial while I wasn’t paying any attention. Because it was just a CoverGirl commercial, I didn’t think I would need to cover the screen. I was pre-occupied, speaking with David (my husband).

Both of us were caught off guard, we didn’t know how to answer. I don’t know why, but the most logical thing we could think of at that moment was to say, “No, that’s a girl.”

The commercial comes on a second time. It is undeniable, it’s a guy.

So what is a backward thinking, over protective parent to do when the Satanic world they are attempting to protect their little snowflake from comes bursting into their lives adorned in eye makeup?

Well misrepresent that world of course.

“Daddy doesn’t wear makeup because makeup is for girls.”

This of course is a ridiculous thing to say as her son JUST saw somebody who was NOT a girl on TV wearing makeup.

The mother then compounds her ignorance by responding with this; “That is how his parents chose to raise him...”

That of course is also ridiculous as parents cannot actually "choose" who their children will be. Nor should they try.

All we can do is love and support our children, and help them to make choices which empower them and allow them to be the best they can possibly be as adults.

And we cannot choose their sexuality, which seems to be the suggestion made by this mother, and her deepest fear.

In the end this sad creature decides that she will simply change her brand of makeup, and then makes this rather pathetic observation:

"Our world is headed in a direction where my 6-year-old son is having to grow up so much faster than I want him to."

Now remember her world was undone by a GUY WEARING MAKEUP.

I mean this is not a video of somebody brutally killing another person on screen, or her son overhearing inappropriate language from an R rated movie, or the death of a beloved pet.

This is just some young guy wearing makeup.

Do you know how you handle that?

You say, "Well he must like to wear makeup, and that's his choice." and you move the hell on.

The fact that this woman sees this as some kind of existential crisis seems to indicate that perhaps SHE needs to start getting out of the house more herself.

Geez!

Chair of the House Oversight Committee, who was champing at the bit to investigate Hillary Clinton if she won the election, has no intention of investigating Donald Trump.

Fair? Wait who said I had to be fair?
Courtesy of the New York Post:

Back in October, Representative Jason Chaffetz, chair of the House Oversight Committee, had big plans for 2017. After leading the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, he positioned himself to be President Clinton’s greatest foe in Congress, bragging to the Washington Post that he would spend the next four years probing her alleged misdeeds.

“It’s a target-rich environment,” Chaffetz said. “Even before we get to Day One, we’ve got two years’ worth of material already lined up. She has four years of history at the State Department, and it ain’t good.”

Even after the election, Chaffetz said he had a “duty and obligation” to continue investigating the former secretary of State. However, he claimed his committee would investigate President-elect Trump with equal fervor. “I am optimistic that a Trump administration would actually be cooperative,” Chaffetz said. “The Obama administration has given us the stiff arm every single step of the way. I think a new administration would actually work with us to quickly get to the truth, learn what we need to learn and then fix it.”

It’s unclear why Chaffetz thinks the candidate who refused Chaffetz’s call to release his tax returns will be more responsive as president, but so far the Utah congressman isn’t even asking for a response.

So the fact that Donald Trump plans to continue overseeing his business while President, does not raise any red flags?

How about the fact that there is overwhelming evidence that the Russian government hacked government computers in order to help him get elected?

Nothing?

Okay how about the fact that he is allowing his daughter to sit in on meetings with foreign heads of state?

Still nothing?

Well what about the fact that the House Democrats wrote a letter asking for an investigation in Trump's financial holdings to see if there were any potential conflicts of interest?

So that doesn't rise to the level of requiring an investigation either?

Would it help if Trump was caught using a private e-mail server?

Nah, it wouldn't would it?

No, unless Donald Trump changed his last name to "Clinton" and suddenly became a Democrat there is literally nothing he could do to convince the Republican led oversight committee to launch an investigation.

And that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about whether Donald Trump is likely to be impeached or not.

Remember that Trump supporter who harassed a plane load of passengers? Yeah well he might be hitchhiking to his next vacation spot.

(Every time you watch he just becomes an even bigger asshole.)

Courtesy of CTV News:

Delta Air Lines is banning for life a passenger who rudely professed his support for Republican President-elect Donald Trump and insulted those who didn't on a flight to Pennsylvania, the company's CEO said Monday.

Edward Bastian said in an internal memo that the airline is also refunding the cost of tickets for other passengers on the Nov. 22 flight from Atlanta to Allentown.

A video posted on Facebook by a passenger shows a man standing in the aisle, yelling and insulting supporters of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The man asks loudly: "We got some Hillary bitches on here?" He proceeds to clap and yell Trump's name a few times while other passengers seemingly try to ignore him, some staring at phones and tablets, others with arms folded.

Referring to Trump's victory, he says: "If you don't like it, too bad."

Careful Delta Airlines you might actually revive my faith in America with this kind of response.

I knew these assholes existed, but now that one of their own is headed to the White House they're coming out of the woodwork like cockroaches.

No I take that back. It's just not fair to cockroaches.

Donald Trump appoints an ardent anti-Obamacare Congressman as his Secretary of Health, and seems determined to adopt an anti-climate change platform. And so it begins.

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

President-elect Donald Trump has selected Georgia Rep. Tom Price, a leading critic of President Barack Obama's sweeping health care law, to head the Department of Health and Human Services, according to a person familiar with the decision.

If confirmed by the Senate, Price will play a central role in Republican efforts to repeal and replace the current health care law. Trump has pledged to move quickly on overhauling the landmark measure, but has been vague about what he hopes to see in a replacement bill.

The president-elect has said he favors keeping provisions that allow young people to stay on their parents' health insurance and that prevent insurance companies from denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions.

That last part will of course be impossible if Trump does away with the insurance mandate, but hey that's the kind of attention to detail that he and his followers simply cannot be bothered with.

Really all you need to know about Congressman Price is that this guy is over he moon at his appointment.
Yeah if Paul "Let's kill Medicare" Ryan is for putting this guy in charge of HHS, then you know he should NEVER be put in charge of HHS.

But hey, that is not even the worst news coming out of the Trump transition team.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

Trump is appointing countless climate science deniers to key positions, which tells you vastly more about what he believes and what he’ll do than his latest semi-coherent ramblings. As I wrote last week, Trump’s repetition of the phrase “open mind” during his Times interview was meant to distract from his constant repetition of long-debunked denier talking points.

Priebus confirmed Trump wasn’t being forthright with the Times, telling Wallace, “As far as this issue on climate change — the only thing he [Trump] was saying after being asked a few questions about it is, look, he’ll have an open mind about it but he has his default position, which most of it is a bunch of bunk, but he’ll have an open mind and listen to people.”

You know having an "open mind"  and a "default position" are two mutually exclusive ideas.

Climate change is no longer something that somebody should have to maintain an "open mind" about. It is clearly here, and it is clearly already causing devastation all around he planet.

The fact that Donald Trump is still clumsily finding his way around these topics is just another indication that he is chronically unfit for this job, and a signal to the rest of the world that America is no longer a country on which they can rely for guidance and assistance in dealing with the vast number of problems facing us all.

Not even president yet and already Donald Trump is threatening to punish Americans for exercising their right to free speech.

So not only does Trump want to diminish the rights of the press to do their job, he also wants to punish American citizens for demonstrating their First Amendment rights as well.

How much longer do we think it will be before he threatens to take away our right to assemble peacefully or petition the government for a redress of our grievances?

Are you afraid yet Trump supporters?

Well if you were smarter you would be.

The NRA takes a victory lap for electing Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Salon:

After spending $30 million in ads to prop up Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, the NRA is now planning to get a return on its investment.

“This is our historic moment to go on offense,” explained NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre told members in a post-election video address.

LaPierre also vowed that he would work to reverse the “tyrannical erosion of gun rights” and denounced states with tight gun control laws as having “deceitful web of gun bans, ammo bans, magazine bans, exorbitant fees, and taxes and registration schemes.”

LaPierre wants to convince the NRA members that they are responsible for the election of Donald Trump.

But of course we know that they would have been rendered impotent without the help of Russian hackers, fake news stories on Facebook, and the FBI's James Comey putting his thumb on the scale.

Funny how some people puff out their chest when their participation in a victory was negligible at best.

Must be why they need to carry guns in order to feel like a man.

Well this is going to drive Donald Trump off the deep end.

Yes I realize that Trump lives off the deep end, but I have a feeling this is going to plunge him even further.

However not quite the distance that he is from winning the popular vote.

How America became a superpower, in case you ever wondered.

Courtesy of Vox:

The United States is the world's most powerful country by far, with a globe-spanning network of alliances and military bases. It's practically unrecognizable from the way the country began — and, indeed, what many early Americans thought it would be. The above video tells the story of how America changed from an insular former colony to a globe-spanning superpower.

Expansionism was always in America's DNA, as a country founded by the expulsion and slaughter of American Indians. But after America reached the Pacific coast, there was a real debate as to whether it should go further — whether the US should continue its growth as an imperial power beyond North America's shores.

Of course we know who won that argument.

Personally I really enjoy this kind of video which attempts to educate Americans about who and what we are, and how we may evolve in the future.

However I have to say that I felt some of this was a little whitewashed and did not accurately present some of the reasons for our interventionist attitude.

Still it was a little mind numbing to be reminded that many of our past decisions, including the creation of NATO, were directed solely by a desire to contain and deal with the Soviet Union, and that a product of the USSR, a former KGB agent, has now chosen America's next president for us.

At any minute I expect Rod Serling to step out of the shadows to say "Imagine if you will, a nation which spent decades attempting to control the actions of a foreign government, now led by a man chosen for them by that self same foreign government. An event which surely could only happen in.....the Twilight Zone."

Melania Trump threatens to sue over video suggesting that her son has autism. Update!

Courtesy of TMZ:

Melania Trump has hired a famous lawyer who is now threatening a lawsuit over a video suggesting her 10-year-old son, Barron, is autistic, and the letter calls out Rosie O'Donnell as a bully.

According to the letter, obtained by TMZ, the YouTube video falsely insinuates Barron is autistic. The letter, and our sources familiar with the situation, say Barron absolutely is not autistic.

This is the Rosie O'Donnell tweet that has angered Frau Trump.
The letter says, "The video allegedly seeks to 'stop the bullying' of Barron Trump. Not true ... The video did instigate further bullying by Rosie O'Donnell and others."

The video lists a number of signs it claims points to autism, including Barron clapping without slapping his hands together. Melania's attorney, Charles J. Harder, says Barron did this once -- at the end of a long day at the RNC -- but the "vast majority of the time, he claps normally."

The "vast majority of the time, he claps normally?" Seriously?

Okay well here's the thing.

I also came out and stated that you cannot diagnose autism from a video, because you know what, you can't.  And to make these accusations without real proof is fairly nasty.

However by coming out like this publicly, and actually threatening to sue, Melania kind of gives it extra credibility.

Now I am not saying that the little Trump padawan is actually autistic or has any other mental development issues (Though with The Donald as his dad it is hard to think otherwise.), I am simply suggesting that by addressing this, and then threatening legal action, Melania is pushing this into a more public sphere and ensuring that this video is seen by many, many more people.

What is more, if the makers of the video call her bluff, and force her to take them to court, that might further embarrass the Trump family and this innocent child.

Oh and I almost forgot. This is going to be the First Family, and this is NOT how the First Family solves their problems.

Well, at least it didn't use to be.

Update: Well it looks like Melania won this one:

Melania Trump just got what she was after ... the man who posted the YouTube video suggesting Barron had autism is taking the video down.

The guy who posted the video says, "TMZ just contacted me to tell me Melania Trump is threatening a lawsuit over this video ... I never ever meant this as a bullying video."

It appears that Rosie O'Donnell also took down her tweet which is why it will not display properly above.

However if Melania thinks this video is gone forever, she really does not understand the internet.

Wisconsin rejects request for hand count, Jill Stein to sue.

Courtesy of the Journal Sentinel:

The Wisconsin Elections Commission set a timetable Monday for a recount of the presidential election but rejected a request to require a count by hand made by Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who quickly responded that she would sue.

Also Monday, Stein filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania to force a recount there and her supporters began filing recount requests at the precinct level there. Stein — who received just a tiny piece of the vote —also plans to ask for a recount in Michigan on Wednesday.

Unless Stein wins her lawsuit in Dane County Circuit Court, officials in each of Wisconsin’s 72 counties would decide on their own whether to do their recounts by hand. That could mean some counties perform recounts by machine and some by hand.

The Elections Committee Chairman, who happens to be a Democrat, stated that he did not think the recount would change the outcome of the election.

Of course the problem with rejecting a hand count, and allowing some counties to use machines, is that a large portion of Americans will remain unconvinced in the outcome of the Wisconsin election.

Besides considering the fact that Donald Trump himself recently claimed that he only lost the popular vote due to millions and millions of illegal ballots, and claims there may be voter fraud in California, New Hampshire, and Virginia, I don't see how we can trust the results coming out of ANY state until she conduct a hand count of each and every vote cast in this election.

I mean if even the guy who won the election is convinced that there was cheating going on, I do not see how we can move forward with this process until we can get to the truth.

And I am sure that if any reporter can get close enough to Donald Trump to ask him about this, that he would agree.

Right?

Donald Trump takes to Twitter with threat to terminate deal with Cuba.

Courtesy of the New York Post:

The comment is the latest hardline stance towards the island nation following the Friday death of longtime leader Fidel Castro. While President Obama and some other world leaders issued carefully worded statements on Castro's death, Trump's statement called him a "brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades."

The tweet goes further, suggesting that he would roll back the first major thaw in U.S.-Cuba relations since Castro seized power in the late 1950s. Following months of secret meetings, President Obama and Raul Castro, who now runs the island, announced an agreement to normalize diplomatic relations and begin allowing trade and travel between the countries.

Damn that is short sighted.

With Fidel Castro now dead, and his brother talking of stepping down as Cuba's president, this is a prime opportunity for the US to exert some influence and work to create a relationship that benefits both countries.

But no, the corpulent tangerine anus has to shit on every policy decision that President Obama has ever made simply out of spite, without any regard for the benefits they may afford the American people or our relations with foreign countries.

Another racist rant from a Trump supporter caught on video.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

“I voted for Trump — so there,” the woman shouted. “You want to kick me out for that? And look who won.”

The angry shopper claimed she had been discriminated against because she was white and had voted for Trump in the lengthy rant recorded Wednesday at Michael’s in the city’s Lakeview neighborhood.

The woman, who has not been identified, noticed other customers had pulled out their phones to record her harangue, which witnesses said went on for more than a half hour, and she angrily confronted the woman whose video went viral.

“I don’t know what you think you’re videoing, lady,” the woman says. “I was just discriminated against by two black women, and you being a white woman, you’re literally thinking that that’s okay? You standing there with your baby thinking that’s okay.”

Kind of reminds me of that guy on the plane from yesterday

Look I know that this is probably a little unfair to find these videos and use them to illustrate the average Trump voter.

However having said that perhaps a Trump supporter should attempt to get themselves videotaped doing something nice for a minority, or helping an elderly person who just lost their Medicare across the street, or perhaps just acting like a rational human being?

Because all they seem to be doing right now is confirming that the majority of Trump voters are indeed "deplorable."

Donald Trump has stated that he does not intend to go after Hillary Clinton because of her e-mail server, but that does not mean he is done punishing her yet.

Courtesy of the New York Post:

Foreign governments will be encouraged to investigate the Clinton Foundation’s finances, as many are already turning off money spigots to the scandal-scarred group, The Post has learned.

A source close to President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team told The Post that the new administration plans to pressure the US ambassadors it will name to bring up the foundation with foreign governments — and suggest they probe its financial dealings.

Trump said last week that he would not order an investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail server or her role in the foundation.

But Trump’s statement didn’t preclude the backroom moves to investigate the group.

“Haiti and Colombia will be key diplomatic posts for this because of all the money involved,” said the source.

So I guess when Donald Trump said, “I don’t want to hurt them. They’re good people,” that was just one more lie to add to the pile?

I think just like the Benghazi investigation and the e-mail kerfuffle this will turn out to be a great big nothing burger.

But once again it adds stress to the lives of the Clinton family, and very likely endangers the survival of the Clinton Foundation.

Wasn't it Omarosa who said that Trump was keeping a list of his enemies?

Why yes it was.

Three California mosques receive threatening letter calling them "Children of Satan" and praising Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Slate:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling for police to increase protection of mosques after at least three in California received identical handwritten letters that vow President-elect Donald Trump will “do to you Muslims what Hitler did to the Jews.” The same photocopied letter was sent to the Islamic Center of Long Beach, the Islamic Center of Claremont and the Evergreen Islamic Center in San Jose over the last week.

The horrific letter is addressed “to the children of Satan” and calls Muslims “vile and filthy people” that “worship the devil.” “Your day of reckoning has arrived,” warns the letter. “There’s a new sheriff in town -- President Donald Trump. He’s going to cleanse America and make it shine again. And he’s going to start with you Muslims. He’s going to do to you Muslims what Hitler did to the Jews. You Muslims would be wise to pack your bags and get out of Dodge.” The letter was signed by “Americans for a Better Way.”

I'm still confused, is this how Trump is "making America great again?"

Well you have to admit that is weird.

I mean one state sure, but all three states?

(Oops, make that four states. Sorry.)

Donald Trump has just put to rest any question as to whether he is mentally fit to be president. (He is not.) Update!

Now just roll that around in your head for a bit.

Currently Hillary is ahead in the popular vote by over 2.2 million.

Is Trump REALLY suggesting that ALL of those votes were cast illegally?

(Yes he is and here is where he got that idea.)

But hey, its gets even better.

So you see Donald Trump was not really trying to win the popular vote, but if he HAD been trying to win the popular vote then buy God he WOULD have won the popular vote, which actually he DID win if not for all of those totally illegal votes.

Which begs the question, just exactly what COULD he have done to win that popular vote, which he totally already won?

Rigged the election even harder perhaps?

I'm sorry but this is not a well man.

He is clearly worried about something, and it is causing him to crack even before he takes he oath of office.

So now here's a question. You know just for shits and giggles.

Trump team now coming out pretty aggressively against this recount effort.

"But this is the president-elect’s position right now and I would say he has been incredibly gracious and magnanimous to Secretary Clinton at a time when, for whatever reason, her folks are saying they will join in a recount to try to somehow undo the 70 plus electoral votes that he beat her by. I mean this — you know, I was asked on CNN and elsewhere, goodness a thousand times, will Donald Trump accept the election results? And now you’ve got the Democrats and Jill Stein saying they do not accept the election results? She congratulated him and conceded to him on election night. I was right there. And the idea that we are going to drag this out now where the president-elect has been incredibly magnanimous to the Clintons and to the Obamas is incredible."

The above was from this morning, but Conway was also talking about it yesterday:

“What a pack of sore losers,” she said in a statement on Saturday. “After asking Mr. Trump and his team a million times on the trail, ‘Will HE accept the election results?’ it turns out Team Hillary and their new BFF Jill Stein can’t accept reality.”

“Rather than adhere to the tradition of graciously conceding and wishing the winner well, they’ve opted to waste millions of dollars and dismiss the democratic process. The people have spoken. Time to listen up. #YesYourPresident,” Conway said.

And then both she and Reince Priebus talked on NBC and Fox News about the recount:

Speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Conway said the recount effort was “confounding and disappointing.” And Reince Priebus, the incoming White House chief of staff, said on “Fox News Sunday” that the planned recount would serve “only to divide this country when we need to come together.”

No, actually this recount can serve to bring the country together by proving beyond any doubt that Trump legitimately won this election, (You know aside from all of that Russian hacking, unnecessary GOP investigations, and FBI putting their thumb on the scale of course.)

The only way it would further divide the country would be if.....Oh, so perhaps there is something to find here?

By the way do I even need to remind everybody that Trump once said this:

"I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters and to all of the people of the United States, that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election - if I win," he said.

He added he would accept "a clear election result," but reserved the right to contest or file a legal challenge in the case of a questionable result.

And that was BEFORE the election even took place.

Yet now that he has "won," he would fault the Hillary campaign, or anybody else, for wanting to request a recount?

I guess it really doesn't matter that my irony meter has been broken for over a year now, because this would probably just break in anyhow.

As it turns out Donald Trump did offer Jerry Falwell Jr. the Secretary of Education cabinet position and he turned him down.

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. says President elect-Donald Trump offered him the job of education secretary, but that he turned it down for personal reasons.

Falwell tells The Associated Press that Trump offered him the job last week during a meeting in New York. He says Trump wanted a four- to six-year commitment, but that he couldn't leave Liberty for more than two years.

Falwell says he couldn't afford to work at a Cabinet-level job for longer than that and didn't want to move his family, especially his 16-year-old daughter.

Holy shitballs!

The fact that Trump offered this position to Falwell suggests to me that he really determined to gut out education system in this country.

And as much as I would be terrified with Falwell in such an important position I am not at all sure that Betsy DeVos is really any better.

The NCLB program that Bush introduced was devastating to the teachers and students in this country, but whatever Trump has in mind could be infinitely worse.

Donald Trump is having an absolute meltdown over this recount thing.

Did he just talk about himself in the third person again?

You know it is perfectly reasonable for somebody to request a recount in a close election, it is part of our democratic process.

For Trump to be getting so bent out of shape over this really makes me wonder if there is not something here that he REALLY does not want us to discover.

Something that Nate Silver seems to agree with as well.
We're just saying.

The domestic terrorists who took over the wildlife refuge in Oregon are totally pissy that they might be on a terrorist watch list.

Jon Ritzheimer, claims he is not a terrorist. Uh huh.
Courtesy of Oregon Live:

Some Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupiers appear to have jumped from one conflict with the federal government straight into another: At least three claim to now be in a federal database of known or suspected terrorists.

Jason Blomgren, 42, Jon Ritzheimer, 33, and Jeff Banta, 47, believe they're on the terrorist watch list, created in the wake of the 9/11 attacks to track people who could be a threat to national security.

All three said federal airport agents have pulled them out of regular screening lines to pat them down and question them when they've tried to fly. Ritzheimer also said he got extra scrutiny when police stopped him for a minor traffic accident.

They said their boarding passes get marked with "SSSS," widely acknowledged among civil rights attorneys as the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration's notice to give somebody special screening at the airport. Any law enforcement official checking Blomgren's criminal history could see a warning to approach him with caution because he may be a member of a terrorist organization.

What the hell is this country coming to when armed men can't take over a government facility without finding themselves labeled as terrorists and treated as if they might be dangerous?

But hey, I think that these pinheads can look forward to some good news on that front.

I have a feeling that the Trump Administration is going to turn a blind eye to any domestic terrorism without links to Islam.

I imagine that the new motto for law enforcement when it comes to terrorism will be, "If they brown, take cover on the ground. But if they white, they alright."

Yep good news for them, not such goods news for all of us.

Another peek into what it is going to be like in Donald Trump's America.

"Hillary Bitches," you know that sounds like the next t-shirt design to replace "Nasty Woman."

Game of Thrones author RR Martin on Trump presidency. "Winter is coming. I told you so."

If anybody understands the psyche of a megalomaniac clawing his way to power, using any means necessary, it is RR Martin.

If this man says that Donald Trump is a danger to this country, you can take that to the bank.

Well great I used to watch the "Game of Thrones" as an escape from reality, but now it's more like  fucking documentary of the future of this country.

Where are the dragons when you need them?

The Washington Post reminds us of the biggest news from this election, that the Russians helped to steal this election from us.

What is that I hear? The whining of Democrats over the fact that I undermined their democracy? Sucks to me you.
Courtesy of WaPo:

In assessing Donald Trump’s presidential victory, Americans continue to look away from this election’s most alarming story: the successful effort by a hostile foreign power to manipulate public opinion before the vote.

U.S. intelligence agencies determined that the Russian government actively interfered in our elections. Russian state propaganda gave little doubt that this was done to support President-elect Trump, who repeatedly praised Vladimir Putin and excused the Russian president’s foreign aggression and domestic repression. Most significantly, U.S. intelligence agencies have affirmed that the Russian government directed the illegal hacking of private email accounts of the Democratic National Committee and prominent individuals. The emails were then released by WikiLeaks, which has benefited financially from a Russian state propaganda arm, used Russian operatives for security and made clear an intent to harm the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.

From the Russian perspective, the success of this operation can hardly be overstated. News stories on the DNC emails released in July served to disrupt the Democratic National Convention, instigate political infighting and suggest for some supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — without any real proof — that the Democratic primary had been “rigged” against their candidate. On Oct. 7, WikiLeaks began near daily dumps from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s email account, generating a month of largely negative reporting on Clinton, her campaign staff, her husband and their foundation. With some exceptions, there was little news in the email beyond political gossip and things the media had covered before, now revisited from a seemingly “hidden” viewpoint.

Russian (and former communist) propaganda has traditionally worked exactly this way: The more you “report” something negatively, the more the negative is true. Trump and supportive media outlets adopted the technique and reveled in information gained from the illegal Russian hacking (as well as many “fake news” stories that evidence suggests were generated by Russian intelligence operations) to make exaggerated claims (“Hillary wants to open borders to 600 million people!”) or to accuse Clinton of illegality, corruption and, ironically, treasonous behavior.

Part of the Russian operation’s success is that we cannot measure the effect. Did the DNC emails depress the Sanders vote for Clinton? Did the Podesta emails turn off independents? Would voters have responded differently if major media had reported the email releases not as legitimate news but as an intelligence operation by a hostile foreign power aimed at undermining the integrity of U.S. elections? There are no clear answers. But there are certainties: The email operation increased negative stories about Clinton, fueled an immense propaganda attack and diminished coverage of actual issues. The large polling lead Clinton gained after the debates slipped significantly under this barrage of negativity — even before FBI Director James B. Comey’s bombshell.

The Post goes on to ask why there are no Congressional investigations into this, or how the Republicans can possibly accept outside intervention into our most important national election?

The answer of course is obvious, the outcome benefits the Republicans. So they will do nothing.

The real question to ask is where in the hell are the Democrats?

If the shoe were on the other foot the Republicans would make it job one to discredit the president-elect, and undermine the process by which they were chosen. I mean hell they damn near destroyed Hillary over some fucking e-mails!

But Democrats? Nah, they are the party of let's do the right thing for the country, and let's heal the wounds before they bleed dissension to every corner of the continent.

Well you know what? I think we could use a little dissension right now.

P.S. Here are a few more facts for you to digest about how the Russians accomplished what they accomplished.

It appears that this recount thing has Donald Trump a little concerned.

Donald Trump attacking this as a scam actually lends it an air of respectability that I am not sure it fully enjoyed before.

By the way "if the election is over" as he states, why even respond to this?

Sarah Palin was all over Breitbart yesterday. Here are some of her moose droppings of "wisdom."

Hey boys, remember me?
First let me say that I don't like to link to Breitbart as I think they are a site driven by racism, misogyny, and hate.

However it is only good blogging etiquette to provide links to posts that I borrow from for a post of my own, so I WILL provide links. However you should know that the Surgeon General has determined that clicking them can lead to high blood pressure, a loss of feeling in your nether regions, and possible brain damage.

First Palin defends Stephen Bannon:

“Look at Steve Bannon, what he’s going through. The irony of Steve Bannon going through this hell with the politics of personal destruction that the Clinton machine supporters are throwing his way is, he recognized that in ‘08 what I was going through, and he made a movie about it,” Palin said referring to Bannon’s documentary The Undefeated, which chronicles Palin’s political career from a corruption busting Alaska mayor and governor to her vice presidential campaign as John McCain’s running mate to her leadership in the Tea Party movement.

“People need to watch that, The Undefeated, because it wasn’t about – I mean, I’m the principal in the movie – but in that documentary it’s not about me. It’s about anybody who would face this injustice of the media, and the politics of personal destruction, and how you can use that actually as fuel,” Palin said.

“When they throw that stuff at you – the lies and the exaggerations and ruining your reputation and your record – you know, it’s kind of hard to find out where do you go to get back your reputation, after they do what they do to people they don’t like. You have to personally use it as fuel to empower you, and to strengthen you, and to really allow it to be confirmation that you’re right, because look at what it is that they represent,” Palin explained. “They represent that intolerance. They represent very, very narrow-minded thinking. They don’t want to enlarge any kind of tent. It’s either their way or the highway.”

I'm sorry I confused "defend Stephen Bannon" with "promote that crappy movie he made about me."

My bad.

By the way the only person guilty of "ruining" Sarah Palin's reputation, is Sarah Palin.

Most of what I wrote here, were things that she actually said, and what I wrote about her and her family was backed up by text messages, interviews, or tidbits of information from friends and family who shared them at some risk to themselves.

Next up Palin claims that she's a feminist, while also attacking the first female presidential candidate from a major party:

Wisconsin agrees to presidential recount, but even before it starts they are dismissing over a thousand votes for Trump. Update!

Courtesy of NPR:

The Wisconsin Elections Commission announced Friday that it would hold a statewide recount of the presidential vote. The move was in response to petitions from two candidates, the Green Party's Jill Stein and independent Rocky Roque De La Fuente.

Federal law requires that all recounts be finished 35 days after the election, which is Dec. 13. One or both of the candidates will be required to pay for the recount.

Well that is certainly good news, and it is especially important in light of this news:
The presidential election of 2016 was the most contentious and bizarre in American history. On top of the vile rhetoric that was spewed by now President-elect Donald Trump, it now appears that certain voting tallies in Wisconsin were hedged in Trump’s favor. A county in Wisconsin named Outagamie County had four precincts in the areas of Cicero, Grand Chute, Bear Creek, and Hortonville which all showed that they had fewer people overall than had voted in the presidential election. This instance, naturally, caused the Internet to fly in a fury claiming, rightly, that voter fraud was taking place. The precincts quickly adjusted their voting totals, which removed over a thousand votes from Donald Trump’s side. What a coincidence, the party which has spent years decrying voter fraud were once again benefiting from voter fraud.

And THAT is only one county in Wisconsin.

Here is more from The Palmer Report:

At the end of election night the New York Times reported that Donald Trump had won the state of Wisconsin with a total of 1,409,467 votes, giving him a winning margin of 27,257 votes over Hillary Clinton’s total of 1,382,210. These numbers were based on what the individual counties and precincts were reporting that night. But now seventeen days later, based on various Wisconsin precincts revising their own totals, Dave Wasserman of the respected Cook Political Report has updated the totals. Donald Trump now has 1,404,536 total votes in Wisconsin, while Hillary Clinton now has 1,382,011 total votes.

Two things immediately jump out, as first spotted by music critic Dave Greenwald. The first is that, even ahead of the forthcoming recount in Wisconsin, Donald Trump’s lead has already shrunk to just 22,525 votes. That means 18% of his “lead” has already vanished, based on precincts catching some of their own incorrect numbers, and internet gawkers catching others. But the second thing that jumps out is that the revisions have served to erase thousands of votes from Trump, while affirming that Clinton’s vote total was essentially correct to begin with.

So is it possible that Philadelphia and Michigan also have disparities like this among their election results? Do you really even need to ask?

Which brings me to my Saturday morning rant.

I am sick and tired of people saying some version of "Hillary Clinton was a flawed candidate," or "The Democrats simply did not get their message out," or "The Clinton Campaign's arrogance cost them this election."

No, No, and NO!

This election was not lost. This election was stolen.

Even if you dismiss this stuff in Wisconsin as being nothing more than a few aberrations which did not affect the outcome, the evidence that this election was stolen is still overwhelming.

First there is the incredible disparity between the electoral vote and the popular vote which now shows Hillary Clinton ahead by 2.2 million votes.

Add to that the fact that the Republicans launched an investigation designed to implant in the American psyche the idea that Hillary was a criminal of some kind.

Then add Russian hackers who targeted ONLY institutions that might have dirt on Hillary, Wikileaks who then dumped that data for public consumption, a media that gleefully reported that illegally attained information to the public while also exaggerating it to attract consumers, and then finally FBI Director James Comey who gambled with his very future by coming out and alluding to the possibility that Hillary might still be indicted.

So you tell me, which presidential candidate could have withstood all of that and emerged victorious?

Bernie Sanders? Don't make me laugh.

Donald Trump? Not on your life.

Barack Obama? No, probably not even him.

NO candidate in American history has had to weather this kind of shit storm.

And now it turns out that the final vote tally might not be accurate.

The Republicans are counting on Democrats to blame ourselves or each other for this "loss," after all that's the same thing we did back in 2000

"Oh if only AL Gore had not been so stiff, or maybe if he had allowed Bill Clinton to campaign for him, or maybe if he had not used the term 'blind trust' so much."

No we won that election, and we allowed it to be stolen from us.

And the same thing just happened again.

So go ahead and blame the most qualified candidate that we have ever run for office, or blame the DNC for not "allowing" Sanders to win instead, or maybe just blame yourselves. After all that is what we do.

And that is what the Republicans, the Right Wing media, and Vladimir Putin are counting on.

But if we don't start looking at the reality of what went on in this election, we are going to find ourselves right back here again in four, eight, or twelve years.

Update: Well now the Clinton Campaign is officially participating in this recount effort.

Good for them!

This is the photo that Donald Trump does not want anybody to see. You know what to do.

Really this one?

Not this one?

Or this one?

Or maybe this one?

Just that one huh?

Well okay I imagine we can do fine without it.

I mean we won't, I still fully intend to use it, but we COULD.

New York introduces new legislation to ban conversion therapy, names it after Mike Pence. Seems appropriate.

Courtesy of the Daily Dot:

Erie County in Western New York will start debating a new piece of legislation this December that aims to locally ban the harmful practices of "conversion therapy," which falsely claims to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity with a series of mostly discredited treatments, including psychological abuse and psychotropic medication.

The law's name also has a message. It's called PENCE: Prevention of Emotional Neglect and Childhood Endangerment.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence is well-known for his anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and advocacy for conversion therapy. As governor of Indiana, he has supported government funding to institutions "which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior." He has also discouraged government support of the Ryan White Care Act, a federally funded program for people living with HIV/AIDS, saying that supporting it would mean funding organizations that "celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus."

Of course conversion "therapy" is where a gay person is told they are a dirty sinner who will burn in a pool of fire if they don't start pretending to like the opposite sex.

Undoubtedly the same therapy that this guy went through so you can see it works like a charm.

This BS is already outlawed in Vermont, California, New Jersey, Illinois and Oregon, as well as the District of Columbia, and the is opposed by the American Psychiatric Association, but apparently there are still quite a number of states that have not yet received the memo.

I think naming it after Trump's VP choice Mike Pence is a brilliant move since it fairly clear this guy can barely tolerate people having regular sex much less gay sex.

Meet Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump's choice as Secretary of Education.

And here I thought that Jerry Falwell Jr. would be the worst possible choice.

This is going to be a VERY bad four years for public education in this country. Let's hope it survives until the next presidency/

Politico reminds us that Donald Trump was not Stephen Bannon's first pick to destroy the country.

Courtesy of Politico:

Steve Bannon thought he had found his perfect presidential candidate. This person was “an outsider,” someone who was “not part of the political establishment,” “not for sale,” with “an ‘America First’ foreign policy approach” and “a ‘Drain the Swamp’ mentality about Washington, DC.” What Bannon loved most was how this person seemed to “put the American worker—the little guy—first.”

Except Bannon wasn’t thinking about Donald Trump. The dream candidate he had in mind? Sarah Palin.

Years before the partisan provocateur of the 2016 cycle hitched himself to the upstart populist billionaire from New York, Bannon openly fantasized about transforming the former governor of Alaska into the very kind of anti-politician who could humiliate the elites of both parties, the very kind of norm-defying outsider that Trump, with Bannon’s help, would ultimately prove to be. So he put all his energy into helping the self-described Mama Grizzly eat Washington’s lunch.

Politico then goes on to share with their readers information that is quite well known by those us here on IM.

In fact I wrote about that very fact way back in August when Bannon first jumped on board.

However Politco offers a little more information from behind the scenes:

This was back in 2011 and Bannon, a filmmaker whose credits at the time included an homage to Ronald Reagan and two films on the Tea Party movement, told the National Review that he saw “a direct lineage” between the Tea Party movement and the Reagan Revolution, and he was desperate to find a contemporary Reagan. For Bannon, the upcoming 2012 election was an opportunity to “fight for the soul of the Republican Party.” He told an audience in Chicago in July of that year, “If we want to get eviscerated and have another 2008, all we have to do is run an establishment Republican.”

It was just a few months earlier that Rebecca Mansour, currently a writer at Breitbart and previously an aide and speechwriter to Sarah Palin, reached out to Bannon to ask if he would make some short videos for a potential Palin presidential campaign. Mansour told Politico recently that Bannon was enthusiastic about her boss’s potential candidacy; it was Bannon, she said, who identified Palin as an “outsider” with a “drain the swamp” mentality. Bannon saw in Palin someone who, in his own words, presented “an existential threat to not just the progressive left, but also to the entrenched country club Republican Party.”

Bannon as it turned out did not produce those short videos that Mansour requested, instead he produced "The Undefeated" which beatified, and white washed her faults, to the point that she no longer even resembled the person Alaskans knew her to be:

Appearing on The Palin Update, a radio show hosted by Sarah Palin obsessive Kevin Scholla on Scholla’s independent network Mama Grizzly Radio, in September 2011, Bannon remarked, “I couldn’t make this film about any other political leader in the country.” He added, “I love all things Palin…Whether she becomes a candidate or not for the presidency, I think these big broad themes of her life and her political life are going to play out on the national level over the next couple of years.”

Despite the urging from Bannon Palin finally told her moronic followers that she was not going to run for president (You're welcome America.), but that did not stop Bannon from pining over her.

Which ultimately led to this:

On June 16, 2015, Trump announced his candidacy, and the very next day Sarah Palin heaped praise on the billionaire real estate mogul in a Facebook post, saying, “he’s doing something right.”

Steve Bannon apparently took notice. On July 12, 2015, he penned another column for Breitbart, this one lauding Trump’s 2011 book Time to Get Tough: “Trump’s book clearly lays out serious policy solutions to vexing U.S. problems. Welfare reform, cyberwarfare, energy, illegal immigration and crime, taxes, healthcare, national defense—you name it, Trump offers his plans, often including specific bills and amendments. Best of all, Trump does it all in his refreshingly blunt and authentic voice—the very voice now resonating with a citizenry fed up with the Political Class and its conceits.”

Then, two weeks later, Bannon made the Palin-Trump populist connection explicitly clear – with a dose of Reagan adulation for good measure. Trump appeared on The Palin Update hosted by Breitbart’s Scholla. During the show, Trump spoke of his admiration for Palin and drew comparisons between himself and the former Alaska governor, while Scholla added that Trump’s leadership style reminded him not only of Palin’s leadership but also of Reagan’s.

So as I have been saying sense the very beginning, without a Sarah Palin there would have been no president-elect Trump.

And now we have even clearer evidence as to how this all came to be.
  • Bannon and the angry teabaggers love Sarah Palin.
  • Sarah Palin decides not to run for president, but four years later endorses Donald Trump.
  • Now Stephen Bannon and the angry teabaggerss, along with the neo-Nazis, racists, and uneducated simpletons love Donald Trump.
  • They cannot have their dream of a Palin presidency, so they settle instead for helping (Along with Russia, the FBI, and Wikileaks of course.) this pussy grabbing megalomaniac win the White House instead.
And now we all get to live in a country as imagined by the dumbest, most gullible, most easily manipulated Americans.

I feel like we're in one of those monster movies where the heroes band together to stop the creature only to learn afterwards that it laid an egg and now the creature 2.0 is descending on the town and they have no more resources to stop it.

Taxpayers could pay over 3 million dollars annually to house Secret Service in Trump Tower.

Courtesy of the New York Post:

The Secret Service is in negotiations with the Trump Organization to take over two vacant floors in the gilded 68-story Fifth Avenue tower, law enforcement sources told The Post.

The federal agency and the NYPD plan to run a 24/7 command post out of the space that would be housed at least 40 floors below Trump’s $90 million penthouse triplex, where wife Melania and their 10-year-old son Barron will continue to reside at least through the spring, sources said.

So we already know that protecting Trump and his family in New York is currently costing over a million dollars a day.

How much  more will it cost to house these Secret Service agents in the Trump Tower? The lease deal alone could cost more than $3 million a year, based on prevailing rates in the building.

The Post reported earlier this week that the 17th floor at Trump Tower is available. The floor is currently being marketed in three, 3,000- to 5,000-square-foot parcels at up to $105 per square foot.

At that rate the federal government would be paying $1.5 million a year for just one floor and double that for two levels of Trump Tower offices.

So not only will Trump refuse to put his financial holdings in a blind trust, because apparently conflict of interest laws don't apply to him, but now taxpayers are expected to directly pay one of his companies to house his security detail?

This guy is actually turning the presidency, which has long been considered the pinnacle of public service, into a crass money making operation.

You know these Trump voters are a special kind of stupid aren't they?
