Okay this is completely out of hand! How in the fuck did we lose our focus and let this happen?

According to the above link it seems as if the conservatives have succeeded in making it impossible for college professors to teach the truth. This is such an obvious ploy to get the Intelligent Design theory inserted into our college curriculum that it makes my skin crawl. How is it that nobody notices this happening? Where are our scientists? It is no longer a bunch of backwood hicks refusing to accept anything that questions the absolute authority of the biblical account of creation. These people are now attacking our education system and trying to gag professors and teachers who want to educate their children. I am completely stunned by this.
Look, I know that there are some professors that use controversial statements to stimulate discourse in their classrooms, but is that not their role? If a professor says something that you disagree with then would that not encourage you to research the subject and determine if he was wrong? That is what I did when I was in college. It is designed to stimulate the learning process for professors to challenge your preconceived notions.
I want to send my daughter to school to learn, not to have her beliefs pandered to. I tell my child to keep her mind open, as there is much for her to learn, and even her old man does not have all of the answers.
I am just sick over this! I am going to start contacting educators in my community and see if I cannot get somebody to start a movement to counter this dumbing down of our young people.
The lesson in all of this is to not every elect a man who believes that science is a dirty word.

Just let her die!
I am absolutely flabbergasted at the circus that has arisen around this poor woman's fate.
I cannot fathom why the Bushies are so completely dedicated to prolonging the agony of the family. I have read tons of news articles and seen every member of her family pleading for her life and I cannot help feel that they desperately need closure on this issue. This is consuming Terry Schiavo's whole family and the outcome is not going to be satisfying to anybody. She is not going to recover! She is going to live in that state until her poor body finally gives out. What happens if she manages to outlive her parents? Who takes care of her then?
But what really stuns me is that the Republicans are treating this like some defining moment in the right to life issue. How in the hell does that equate? This women is at the end of her life, not the beginning. Have the Republicans even considered the flood of appeals that are surely to come their way in the wake of this meddling? They have bitten off way more then they could ever hope to chew and I cannot see the upside for them.
And what ever happened to "God's will"? I have often heard conservative Christians talking about surrendering their lives to God. Well it seems clear that if there is a God he wants Terry to join him, and her family and the Republicans are keeping that from happening.

Trigger Happy Americans!
You must know that this is the phrase that is on the lips of many of our Italian allies. It is beyond irony that after spending a month in captivity, on the day of her release, Giuliana Sgrena is fired upon by American troops as she and her liberators sped toward freedom.

You know I actually believe that the American troops were not at fault here. I think that it was just a terribly unfortunate coincidence. There is undoubtably fault here but I am not going to point any fingers, but I will say that we are going to bear the brunt of the blame from the international community. No matter what the facts are, it looks like once againwe are too ready to use deadly force. We invaded this country, killed untold thousands of civilians, disrupted the lives of millions, and continually changed the reason for the attack, how can we possibly convince the world that we are not murderers? We cannot.
