From Alaska Dispatch:
With the write-in count continuing to bode poorly for GOP candidate Joe Miller Thursday, his campaign staged what can only be described as a bizarre press conference here to raise the specter of alleged electoral fraud and voter intimidation in Alaska's 2010 Senate race.
Floyd Brown, a conservative strategist who flew into Juneau with Joe Miller on Tuesday, said the campaign had heard of many instances of voter intimidation, but refused to name one individual who had experienced such intimidation. He read aloud a phone number Alaskans could call to report threats or bullying. And he reported the gap in votes between Miller and incumbent U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski -- the write-in candidate-- was getting closer every day, even though all the evidence pointed in the opposite direction.
As counting wrapped up Thursday, the numbers released by the Alaska Division of Elections were not favorable to Miller's Senate dreams. With 49 percent of write-in votes counted, the division was calling 98 percent for Murkowski. If that trend continues -- it has been holding at almost the same rate since the first the ballots were counted -- Murkowski will boast a lead of 8,700 votes over Miller in the final tally.
So essentially it is pretty much all over but the crying. Surely after seeing the final vote tally the Miller campaign will take their Teabagger ball and go home right?
Sucker! Haven't you been paying attentino to how the Palin-bot and Teabaggers are "helping" Brisotl win DWTS? Do you really think they will play fair in THIS election?
John Tiemessen, an attorney representing Miller, said the campaign has two possible avenues of attack to try pull out a victory if Miller finishes officially in second. One is the lawsuit currently in U.S. District Court. It argues against the Division of Elections accepting minor misspellings of "Lisa Murkowski" in the voting. However, even if U.S. District Court Judge Ralph Beistline were to rule in favor of the Miller campaign, many of the ballots Miller observers have challenged fall short of spelling errors.
A bunch of the ballots in the "challenged" pile are there because Miller observers objected to Murkowski's name being written with an overly loopy "u," or written in with an "r" in cursive in an otherwise printed Murkowski. Miller has even challenged "Lisa Murkowski, Republican" as a violation of election rules.
The second option open to the Miller campaign, Tiesmessen said, would be to appeal decisions made by the election board to the Alaska Superior Court. Even if expedited, he warned, such an appeal could take "months and months," and if "at the end of the day, if Lisa Murkowski has more valid votes than Joe Miller, then the state law says Lisa Murkowski is the next senator for the state of Alaska."
Still, there are other options for prolonging the election in hopes something will change, and Miller has a toll free hotline -- 1-866-446-4138 -- trolling for the game changer it hopes to find in voting fraud.
Like I said before the campaign is getting desperate.
So desperate in fact that they brought in THIS guy!
(H/T to my friend Phil Munger for the video.)
Can you believe that this guy almost became Alaska's next Senator?
Joe Miller's complete lack of ethics makes Ted Stevens look like freaking Dudley Do Right.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Sarah Palin continues to add polish her Trig birth story.
From Sarah Palin's speech at Alabama's Faulkner University last Thursday.
As I watched this portion of her speech one thought kept going through my mind, "Can't these people tell by her body language, overuse of detail, and changes in pitch as she speaks that she is lying?"
But then I thought, "Perhaps it is just because I KNOW her story is bullshit that I catch what appear to be obvious indications that she is lying just as hard as she can in a desperate attempt to derail any future revelations that prove she is not Trig's mother."
If you folks watch it and do not find the lies as glaring and obvious as I do, can you let me know? After all of this time I may be a little hypersensitive.
In this speech she has added new details. For instance now there is a nurse who knew she was pregnant, where as before it was just Todd and CBJ who knew before she announced it to the world. And she seems to have forgotten that in her previous versions Bristol announced her pregnancy AFTER Trig was born, yet in this version she makes it sound as if they were both knocked up at the same time.
In this most recent version Palin identifies her difficulty in accepting Trig's Down syndrome diagnosis as one of the reasons she kept the pregnancy hidden. (Palin used to deny that she hid her pregnancy, but apparently that part of her story no longer fits her "Trig birth story 2.0")
In my opinion this constant revisiting of the Trig birth mythology is one of the clearest indications yet that Palin is planning to throw her hat in the ring for 2012. She is laying her pro-life story on thick and syrupy in the hopes that she can lure the fundamentalist vote away from Huckabee, while "uterus blocking" Romney as well, and already have them in her corner when she makes her big announcement.
Let's face it, unless Romney or Huckabee can pop out a developmentally delayed patriotic infantryman before now and 2011, Palin will have the Fundamentalist retards (President Obama says that word does not refer to those with an "intellectual disability" anymore so it is fair game!) flocking after her like she is their mama duck. (Extra points for those who catch this reference.)
You keep right on telling that ridiculous Trig birth story Sarah, that just makes my part of this little dance all that much easier.
H/T to Progressive Alaska for this clip. And make sure to take a trip over there and read about Sarah's latest "death threat." I think we are going to start seeing a lot more of THOSE as well.

Why do the Conservatives hate America?
This video was taken at a meeting of the Americans for Prosperity (the hate-mongers who organize the Teabagger rallies) as they learn that America has lost its bid to host the Olympic games.
Just listen to the patriotism.
So just because you don't like the current President that makes it okay to cheer then you country loses out to other countries? Can you imagine how these jerks would have responded if liberals had acted that way when George Bush was President?
And this is the reaction of the VERY patriotic conservative talking heads, taking much glee in the failure of their country to get the Olympics.
(H/T to Phil Munger for this video.)
So the next time you hear one of these flaming hypocrites talking about the "leftist liberal", the "Communist left", or the "Nazi President", you remember the joy you heard in their voices at the news that America would NOT be hosting the Olympic games.

Help Max Blumenthal receive the Alaska Bloggers bump.
Max Blumentahl, writer of the amazing book "Republican Gomorrah" is coming to Alaska. But we need your help.We need to raise money for Max's plane tickets and accommodations while he is here in town.
Phil Munger has a PayPal button over at Progressive Alaska, and donations are very welcome.
Max is obviously in search of the much sought after "Alaska bloggers bump". Sure Stephen Colbert has had some small impact on the careers of the people that appear on his show, but the Alaska Bloggers are truly magical.
Just like Eric Boehlert of "Bloggers on the Bus", and Geoffrey Dunn (who is currently writing a book on Sarah Palin and Alaska politics), Max Blumenthal knows that spending a few days in the presence of the Alaska Bloggers will ensure a dramatic increase in book sales.
So if you can help, please do, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. We could not do what we do without the wonderful support of our readers.
(BTW information concerning the veracity of the "Alaska Blogger Bump" phenomena is still in the coalescing stage, and is not yet readily available. But I FEEL that it is true, so it must be so.)

The Beast asks "Is Sarah Palin too stupid to live?"
Yeah I know it is kind of mean, but it is also hysterical. Would I lie to you?
My favorite line is, “When William Shatner is making fun of the way you talk, you’ve really got a problem.” How true is that?
My friend Phil Munger also has posted a funny video from the Headz Up gang. It features a conversation between the Twitter Quitter and Glenn "Crybaby" Beck. Go check it out.
I am a little disappointed right now because I was all set to sit in a darkened theatre with my favorite movie date, my daughter, and let my mind turn to mush as 3-D images of mayhem were thrown at my eyes from the movie "The Final Destination 3-D". But then she had to cancel because of work.
Yeah I know it is not exactly "Shakespeare in the Park", but hey sometimes I need a cerebral mini-vacation.
Besides I will watch almost ANYTHING as long as it is in 3-D. I might even sit through that "Notebook" movie if they made it jump off of the screen.
Okay maybe 3-D cannot save every movie.
But if you have not seen the movie "Up" in 3-D you are really missing something.

Alaska bloggers to be featured in chapter of book "Bloggers on the Bus: How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press".
My friend Phil Munger posted this on his website Progressive Alaska yesterday.
Eric Boehlert, one of the founders ofMedia Matters for America, recently finished a book about important aspects of the rapidly changing American political scene. The book, titled Bloggers on the Bus - How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press, will be released May 19th. Chapter Thirteen, about how Alaska's bloggers played a role in getting detailed information about Sarah Palin, and our kinky, sometimes difficult political customs out to an eager Outside press in late summer and early autumn of 2008, is called Saradise Lost. I spoke with publisher Simon & Schuster's publicist for the book, Christine Donnelly, this morning. She told me that the chapter on Alaska bloggers will bring up the role local blogs like Alaska Real, Andrew Halcro, Celtic Diva's Blue Oasis, Just a Girl from Homer, Kodiak Konfidential, The Mudflats, Own the Sidewalk, Progressive Alaska, The Immoral Minority and What Do I Know? played in both the McCain/Palin and Begich-Stevens campaigns.
When I started this humble blog back in November of 2004, I certainly never felt I would have such an impact on both local and national political history. And I never, ever imagined that I would have the opportunity to meet and work with so many amazing intellects as I have these last nine months.
The Alaska bloggers are a wonderful, magnanimous group of individuals, and I am honored to be counted among them.
You can bet I am going to be purchasing this book when it comes out, and I would undoubtedly do so even if I did not have a small mention within its pages.

Progressive Alaska posts Wayne Anthony Ross 1993 anti-gay bar association letter. This is a must read!
Here is just a sample of this incredibly homophobic missive:
"I am in favor of a repeal of the measure. I see nothing involving civil rights in this matter. We all, heterosexual or homosexual, have certain rights. This bill seems to give extra rights to a group whose lifestyle was a crime a few years ago, and whose beliefs are certainly immoral in the eyes of anyone with some semblance of intelligence and moral character."
And it just goes on and on from there.
How ANYBODY can seriously consider this guy for the most important law enforcement job in the state is completely shocking to me.

I found this on Progressive Alaska this morning.
Meanwhile, one of my Juneau informants tells me that when Shannyn Moore tried to corner Mike Doogan today in Juneau, he locked himself in a rest room. I can't wait to find out the real story from Shannyn.
Update - 10:00 p.m: Two Juneau phone calls later.
#1 - Shannyn says the hallroom chase with Doogan is far more hilarious. She has it on tape. Can't wait!
#2 - (not Shannyn) Sarah's Grussendorf slice of stale bread is toast. Not even close to marketable.
Phil Munger has excellent sources of information, and often is a few steps ahead on breaking stories.
I can hardly wait to see that video from Shanny!
And then to find out that the legislators are going to reject Dorfy? Well that is news to put a smile on your face this morning. Woohoo!
Remember Doogan, you can run but you CANNOT hide from the Alaska progressive bloggers!

Palin-bots presssure ADN to stop linking to this blog and others who dare to stand up and question Sarah Palin.
Just an update - a couple of weeks ago, we pointed out that Mark Dent of the Alaska Newsreader, a product of the Anchorage Daily News, was providing links to screwball blogs that espouse loony Trig Truther conspiracy theories and engage in vile personal attacks on the Palin children.
At that time, I put together a complaint to Pat Dougherty, executive editor of the ADN, pointing out the problems at the Newsreader and providing evidence of this behavior for two blogs in particular - "Palingates" and "Immoral Minority". I also pointed out the propensity of the Newsreader to provide links to primarily anti-Palin sites, with little balance in the way of pro-Palin commentary.
I heard back from Mr. Dougherty today - he told me that the complaint had been discussed internally and that he agreed with its substance. So it appears there will be no more ADN link-love for the fringe tinfoil-hat wearers, and hopefully a little more balance at the Newsreader.
It looks like our local liberal blogs have hit a little close to home and Sarah Palin's minions are tired of not having the ability to control the information or the message. So of course it is time to use the favorite fall back of the conservatives, censorship.
I am ashamed of Mr. Dougherty for allowing himself to be bullied (If indeed that is the case, we only have this blurb from this wacko Palin blog to go on so far), but I certainly hope he does not lump all of our local blogs together.
Anderew Halcro, Mudflats, Progressive Alaska, Alaska Real, Celtic Diva, Alaska News, and Shannyn Moore, are very serious and informative blogs that do our state a great service. If Mr. Dougherty wants to demonstrate deference to these conservative bullies then I encourage him to stop linking to THIS site.
Out of all of my fellow bloggers I can more honestly be described as dancing on the fringe. I was the one who kept bringing up "babygate". I am the one who is reading the book "Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin", posting portions from the book, and then adding snarky comments. I am the one who constantly refers to Governor Palin as "Caribou Barbie". I admit it I am not exactly a member of the Palin fan club.
So rather than depriving the online ADN readers the opportunity to be exposed to the amazing writing of AKM, or the pithy commentary of Shannyn Moore, or the intellectually powerful in depth reporting of Andrew Halcro, just announce that you are turning away from the more inflammatory blogs for input and cut me loose.
Because let's face it, I am not going to stop doing what I do, regardless of whether I get an ADN link or not. And besides I did not get that much extra traffic from you guys anyhow.
(Oh by the way my title links to the site where this little tidbit originated. If you don't want to increase their traffic don't click it. But if you would like to visit and perhaps leave a comment for them I would not discourage it. After all I am certainly not one to advocate censorship.)

John Ziegler is a complete ass. Oh did you know that already?
I saw this on my friend Phil Munger's site, Progressive Alaska, and simply had to borrow it for myself.
Apparently there is yet ANOTHER cable show about dating called "The New Dating Story", that is so hard up for participants they were even willing to have misogynistic John Ziegler completely disappoint a nice young woman on camera for the world to ridicule.
So start the ridiculing.
Wow! Can you believe what a total dick that guy is?
No wonder he fawned all over Sarah Palin, that must be as much action as he has received from a female in quite some time. What a sad little man.
(Click the title to visit Phil's site and see his take on this video.)
