Is it Thanksgiving already? Well you know what that means!
I know that some of you expressed a desire NOT to see this video this morning, but much like seeing Uncle Harold pass out with his pants unzipped in front of the football game after dinner this too is a Thanksgiving tradition.
Besides WHO can really get tired of watching Sarah Palin fail so hilariously at trying to mimic the President turkey pardon.
My favorite part is that according to my friend Linda Kellen Biegel, (Celtic Diva) who was there that day, the cameraman suggested that she might want to move to a different location, but she looked back and then said she was fine right there.
And the rest is Thanksgiving history.

It's Thanksgiving morning, so you know what THAT means!
I swear this interview of Palin's sill NEVER get old.
I remember when it first happened watching it on TV with my jaw literally on the floor. I thought I had seen her at her most clueless, but boy was I wrong!
I cannot even begin to tell you the number of versions I have watched over the last four years, and some are VERY imaginative. (Here is one of my favorites.)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!

This is the video I wanted to post last night.
One of the things I will miss the most about seeing Keith on Countdown weekday nights is hearing the compassion in his voice for those who are hurt, or discriminated against, or treated inhumanely.
He did a wonderful job of covering Gabby Giffords horrendous attack and her courageous recovery. I hope that someday soon she comes to know how compassionately he discussed her situation, and how he spoke out against continuing to reinforce the kind of hateful environment which might inspire a similar attack in the future.

Keith Olbermann has left MSNBC! Update!
I don't know whose fucked up idea this was to let Olbermann leave the network, but they have made a huge mistake.
Olbermann pulled MSNBC out of the fog of obscurity and made it a must see for thousands of people who were angered and scared sleepless by the Bush administration, and has been a beacon of honesty and journalistic integrity ever since.
Personally I will follow Keith to wherever he may go, and he can always count on my viewership.
For MSNBC I make no such promise.
Update: Here is the statement from MSNBC:
"MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors," NBC Universal said in a statement.
Well that is pretty fucking weak.
As somebody else mentioned, Rachel Maddow is on Bill Maher tonight. I cannot imagine that this topic will not come up, so perhaps we will learn more then.
Jesus, I think I am in shock!

When the Republicans take to the House floor and read from the Constitution, they may find that they had absolutely NO idea what the darn thing said before.

Of course the Republicans will NEVER take the word of a professor with a name like Akhil Reed Aman.
And unless their comprehension has improved they may not understand it even after they embarrass themselves by reading out loud how wrong they were about the founders of this country.

Countdown has more about Rep. Darryl Issa, the new millenium's own Joseph McCarthy.
As if that was not damning enough. and by the way I think it is, SFGate has this amazing story of Issa's outright lies about working for President Nixon's security staff.
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Darrell Issa says that during the Vietnam War he served with an elite Army bomb unit, traveling with then-President Richard Nixon to protect him from harm.
He attended baseball's World Series in 1971 as part of the president's security entourage, Issa once told an interviewer.
But military records obtained by The Examiner and interviews with former soldiers cast doubt on the stories the millionaire executive-turned-politician tells about his Army days.
The records show that Issa's service on what he terms an
"Army security team" amounted to less than six months on a bomb-disposal squad in 1971. That's scant experience to qualify him for presidential security duty, former GI bomb experts say.
Issa couldn't have guarded Nixon at the World Series because the president didn't attend, according to the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda.
Methinks that if Rep. Issa is REALLY interested in launching an investigation against a dishonest politician he might want to start by confronting the man looking back at him from his bathroom mirror.

Keith Olbermann apologizes to fans, explains what happened, and criticizes MSNBC.
From the Huffington Post:
A STATEMENT TO THE VIEWERS OF COUNTDOWN
by Keith Olbermann
I want to sincerely thank you for the honor of your extraordinary and ground-rattling support. Your efforts have been integral to the remedying of these recent events, and the results should remind us of the power of individuals spontaneously acting together to correct injustices great or small. I would also like to acknowledge with respect the many commentators and reporters, including those with whom my politics do not overlap, for their support.
also wish to apologize to you viewers for having precipitated such anxiety and unnecessary drama. You should know that I mistakenly violated an inconsistently applied rule – which I previously knew nothing about – that pertains to the process by which such political contributions are approved by NBC. Certainly this mistake merited a form of public acknowledgment and/or internal warning, and an on-air discussion about the merits of limitations on such campaign contributions by all employees of news organizations. Instead, after my representative was assured that no suspension was contemplated, I was suspended without a hearing, and learned of that suspension through the media.
You should also know that I did not attempt to keep any of these political contributions secret; I knew they would be known to you and the rest of the public. I did not make them through a relative, friend, corporation, PAC, or any other intermediary, and I did not blame them on some kind of convenient 'mistake' by their recipients. When a website contacted NBC about one of the donations, I immediately volunteered that there were in fact three of them; and contrary to much of the subsequent reporting, I immediately volunteered to explain all this, on-air and off, in the fashion MSNBC desired.
I genuinely look forward to rejoining you on Countdown on Tuesday, to begin the repayment of your latest display of support and loyalty - support and loyalty that is truly mutual.
--K.O.
I have heard some media outlets are pondering whether or not this was just a publicity stunt by NBC, but I am not sure Olberman would go for such cheap theatrics especially considering the fact that they either would have had to leave Rachel Maddow out of the loop. or ask her to fake the sense of outrage that she expressed last week.
I just don't see Maddow agreeing to pull the wool over the eyes of her viewers, it does not seem like a Rachel thing to do. Nor do I think she would be happy to know that she was fooled right along with the rest of America.
Well the important thing is that Keith will be back on Countdown tonight, where he belongs.

New York is not the only place that Muslim Americans are facing discrimination and intolerance in this country.
If we are going to hold the whole of the American Muslim community accountable for the sins of the 9-11 terrorists than who shoulders the burden for the hate spewed by "Christians" toward Islamic children and their parents?
Look I don't think we can avoid the obvious any longer. It seems pretty clear to me that certain individuals in the Republican party are attempting to start either a race war, or a religious war, in this country.
In other words I believe that there are people in the GOP who are willing to frighten their constituents so thoroughly that they may actually do bodily harm, or even kill, another human being so long as it gets them elected to office.
And if such a thing were to happen I wonder if Fox News could be charged as an accessory?

Hooray! BP caps the well and stops the flow of oil! But wait, this is BP, so what are we missing?
From Yahoo News:
BP finally choked off the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday — 85 days and up to 184 million gallons after the crisis unfolded — then began a tense 48 hours of watching to see whether the capped well would hold or blow a new leak.
To the relief of millions of people along the Gulf Coast, the big, billowing brown cloud of crude at the bottom of the sea disappeared from the underwater video feed for the first time since the disaster began in April, as BP closed the last of three openings in the 75-ton cap lowered onto the well earlier this week.
"Finally!" said Renee Brown, a school guidance counselor visiting Pensacola Beach, Fla., from London, Ky. "Honestly, I'm surprised that they haven't been able to do something sooner, though."
Sounds good right? I mean for months we have watched this oil gush into the Gulf and now it is stopped, so how could that potentially be a bad thing?
Well this is BP we are talking about. What if the main goal was not to stop the oil but rather to make it harder to measure how much oil had spilled into the Gulf.
Keith Olbermann discussed this very topic with oil industry expert Bob Cavnar on Countdown a few days ago.
I would like to celebrate this potential success as much as anybody else, but I think I will reserve judgement until i see what happens next.
