Adult film actress Stormy Daniels and her attorney released a composite sketch of the man they say threatened her in a Las Vegas parking lot to “leave Trump alone” in the wake of an interview she had given about her alleged affair with President Donald Trump.

Daniels and Michael Avenatti, her lawyer, appeared Tuesday on ABC’s “The View,” where they released the sketch publicly for the first time. Avenatti offered $100,000 for information leading to the identification of the man in the sketch and asked members of the public to email tips to IDtheThug@gmail.com. 

“We want to get to the bottom of who this is. We think we know who sent him, but we want to confirm it,” Avenatti said. He declined to say whether the sketch has been shared with law enforcement. 

In an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” earlier this month, Daniels recalled the 2011 incident wherein she said a man approached her and her child as she made her way to an exercise class in Las Vegas. The adult film actress said the man told her to “leave Trump alone” and “forget the story” of her alleged affair with Trump, which she had shared with “In Touch” magazine.

“That's a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom,” Daniels said the man said to her.

Anybody who would threaten a mother in front of her child is just the kind of scum that you would assume would be associated with Michael Cohen and Donald Trump.

So I certainly hope that somebody sees this sketch and that this guy gets picked up by the cops.

And just in case anybody is unsure that Donald Trump would actually use violence against his enemies, here is a former employee of the Trump Organization confirming that he most definitely would.

Michael Cohen killed a US Weekly article about Donald Trump Jr's affair back in 2013. Update!

Another day, another story Trump lawyer Michael Cohen had to kill about a Trump family member having a scandalous affair. 

This time, the Wall Street Journal reports that Cohen killed an Us Weekly story being prepared in 2013 on Donald Trump Jr.’s alleged affair with pop singer Aubrey O’Day.

Don Jr., President Donald Trump’s adult son, was a year earlier a judge on Celebrity Apprentice while O’Day was a contestant.

Here is how the US Weekly staff characterized their interactions with Cohen:  

“We were all on speakerphone and huddled around the phone,” this person said. “He was just one of these New York characters where he was just like swearing at us and totally over-the-top threatening.” 

The magazine’s staff didn’t believe it was a big story that would be worth a legal fight and had a good working relationship with the elder Mr. Trump on stories related to the TV show “The Apprentice,” so they dropped the story.

So verbal abuse and threats, that sounds like the Michael Cohen method.

Speaking of Michael Cohen, his lawyers are flipping their proverbial shit about that FBI raid.

Lawyers for President Donald Trump's personal attorney say investigators "took everything" during raids last week on his residence and office. 

The lawyers wrote in a court filing Monday that the raids a week ago to gather evidence from attorney Michael Cohen were "completely unprecedented." 

They said investigators seized more than a dozen electronic devices and other items including documents and data unrelated to the probable cause upon which the search warrants were based. 

The letter demanded Trump and Cohen's lawyers be allowed to decide which items seized are protected by attorney-client privilege before criminal prosecutors see them.

Gee I wonder if that bit about Junior's extramarital affair is part of what got scooped up?

The hearing over this is scheduled for today, and rumor has it that a Miss Stormy Daniels may be in attendance.

Should be a fun day for one and all.

Senate Democrats say they can find NO credible evidence that EPA chief Scott Pruitt received threats that justify his unprecedented security expenses.

Confidential security assessments in the Environmental Protection Agency show no evidence of specific, credible, physical threats against Administrator Scott Pruitt, despite claims that an “unprecedented” number of death threats justify his outsized security spending, according to a review by Senate Democrats. 

Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee wrote in a letter Tuesday that they have reviewed security assessments describing 16 purported threats against Pruitt. They include public protests, criticism of Pruitt’s policies and other activities protected by the First Amendment. 

The letter from Sens. Tom Carper of Delaware and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island urged the committee’s Republican chairman to begin oversight hearings into Pruitt’s unusual security precautions. 

The Associated Press reported Friday that EPA has spent about $3 million on Pruitt’s security measures, which included flying first-class and using a full-time security detail of 20 armed officers.

Here are some alleged threats against Pruitt that were investigated, according to reports: 

― The EPA inspector general in March 2017 investigated a postcard sent to the EPA that said: “Get out while you still can, Scott,” “You ignorant fuck,” and “You are evil incarnite,” according to a report obtained by E&E. EPA investigators discussed the message with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. But they couldn’t identify the author and concluded the message “lacked a clear threat.”

 ― Another postcard included “an implied threat that contained obscene language,” Sullivan told E&E. “It was not a direct threat.” The U.S. attorney’s office declined to prosecute, and the writer of the message apologized when contacted by federal officials, said Sullivan. 

― “Threatening tweets” against Pruitt and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) were investigated in April 2017. The writer told investigators he wrote the “flippant comments” while drinking and watching “The Rachel Maddow Show,” and had no intention of hurting anyone. He apologized, and a U.S. attorney’s office declined to press charges. 

― The EPA launched a criminal probe in April 2017 into two female protesters who interrupted a speech by Pruitt. Officials submitted information for misdemeanor charges, but no action was taken. 

― The head of the EPA’s Office of Criminal Enforcement told Politico in February that Pruitt’s safety was threatened when people yelled obscenities at him.

Jesus, I never realized it before but perhaps I need a bullet proof desk, because I have received way more aggressive threats than these.

By the way as it turns out Pruitt's predecessor, Gina McCarthy, received some ACTUAL threats of harm.

One of which said, “We will hurt you and your family.”

And yet she did not even bother to ask for a bullet proof desk, or even around the clock security.

Go figure. 

So Donald Trump starts today by fantasizing about brutalizing a former Vice President.

Okay so first a little back story courtesy of WaPo: 

“A guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ‘I can grab a woman anywhere, and she likes it,’ ” Biden said during a speech at the University of Miami, according to ABC News. “They asked me if I’d like to debate this gentleman, and I said ‘no.’ I said, ‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.’ ” 

“I’ve been in a lot of locker rooms my whole life,” Biden continued. “I’m a pretty [darn] good athlete. Any guy that talked that way was usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room.”

Biden's remarks were made during  the University of Miami’s “It’s On Us” rally, a gathering which discussed sexual assault and gender based violence.

So as you can imagine they were well received.

Now to be totally honest I get where Uncle Joe is coming from, in my high school days Donald Trump would have been EXACTLY the kind of pompous bullying windbag that I would have targeted.

But that was high school, and keep in mind that Biden is referring to an incident that would have only happened in high school if the two had crossed paths way back when.

Trump on the other hand is all about the here and now:

Once again Biden is not threatening anybody. He is talking about a possibility that never presented itself, and venting some frustration about the way that Trump treats women.

However, and I just have to add this, if there were to be a physical confrontation between today's Donald Trump and today's Joe Biden, I do not think many bets would be placed on a Trump victory.

The man has french fry grease running through his veins, can barely walk a 100 feet unassisted, and if he were to make a fist his heart would likely explode.

I think the only way that Trump could win a fight like this is by using the same technique he used to impregnate Melania, lying on top of her until she was too exhausted to push him off, until she finally gave up told him "Fine you win."

Okay so that was one bizarre tweet from Tangerine Hitler this morning, this was the other one.

Remember when they were saying, during the campaign, that Donald Trump is giving great speeches and drawing big crowds, but he is spending much less money and not using social media as well as Crooked Hillary’s large and highly sophisticated staff. Well, not saying that anymore!

Long island man pulls out knife during public meeting on school safety in order to intimidate teenager he was debating.

A Long Island man terrified students and others by pulling out a knife to demonstrate why he believed schools should have armed security guards. 

The man took out the pocket knife during a face-to-face confrontation with a student Wednesday during a public meeting in Rocky Point on school safety, reported Newsday. 

“I’m considerably larger than you, OK?” the man tells the student in cell phone video recorded during the incident. “If something happened, if I decided to attack you, it would take the cops three to five minutes to come here — probably 10 if the traffic’s bad.” 

The man, whose name was not released, apparently disagreed with 17-year-old senior Jade Pinkenberg, who spoke up during the school board meeting to argue against arming teachers. 

“What are you going to do now?” the man says, as the teen backs away. 

Pinkenburg’s father and others shouted to tell the man to stop, and school security escorted the man out of the meeting. 

“I had no idea what was happening,” Pinkenburg said. “He was in my face a bit and I didn’t know what he was about to do. When I realized, I kind of jumped back. My legs got weak and my heart was beating fast.”

What is it with these adults thinking that violence, or the threat of violence, is the way to demonstrate to children that they are overreacting about violence?

Clearly this man believed that if he could scare this kid, that in some way he would make his point that the only way to feel secure in school is with armed guards at every  exit.

That is simply not the case, and in fact, as we have seen several times just recently, guns in school tend to go off accidentally and place MORE children's lives in danger, instead of protecting them from danger.

All this guy proved is that he's an asshole and a bad role model to his own children.

According to the attorney some of these incidents even happened during the campaign.

And before any Trump defenders start arguing that Trump would not be this stupid, take a look at this story: 

Lawyers for President Donald Trump’s family hotel business threatened a Panamanian judicial official handling a dispute related to Trump Hotels’ management of a 70-story luxury hotel, according to a complaint filed with the anti-corruption division of Panama’s chief prosecutor. 

The complaint reviewed by The Associated Press said lawyers from the firm representing Trump’s hotel management business accosted a justice of the peace, Marisol Carrera, in her office after she ruled against Trump’s business on a minor issue in the fight over control of the Trump-branded luxury hotel. The abuse continued, she wrote, even after she called police to defuse the situation.

Trump has a long history of using strong arm tactics and intimidation to get his way.

But threatening a woman who he once had an affair with is a new kind of low.

Not that doing so will change anything as there are at least six more women coming forward with similar stories. Two even have their own NDA's.

By the way that 60 Minutes segment with Stormy Daniels is now scheduled to air next Sunday.

I have a feeling it will be a ratings hit.

Trump supporters are the nicest people, don't you agree?

A pair of Trump supporters were caught on camera this past weekend issuing unhinged threats to a left-wing bookstore in Berkeley, California. 

The video, which was posted on YouTube by Berkeley’s Revolution Books, shows the Trump supporters coming into the store and confronting people working there. 

The video begins with a woman Trump supporter asking a store staff member if she really thinks “I’m racist because I support our president?” 

“Yes, basically, yes,” the staff member replies. 

A male Trump supporter, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, called the staffer “commie scum” and told her that “we’re going to burn down your bookstore.” 

The staffer informed them that she had video of them threatening to burn down the store and told them to “please leave” the premises. 

“This is America, f*ck you!” the man shouted at her.

And THAT is the result of being exposed to programming from Fox News, Sinclair Broadcasting, and Right Wing Twitter accounts.

Though to be fair this guy would clearly be a racist asshole regardless of where he got his news.

It's just that racist assholes know where to go to have their prejudices and hatred refueled with misinformation.

Donald Trump's attorney is continuing to use intimidation to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels.

President Donald Trump's lawyer is trying to silence adult-film star Stormy Daniels, obtaining a secret restraining order in a private arbitration proceeding and warning that she will face penalties if she publicly discusses a relationship with the president, NBC News has learned. 

The new pressure on Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, comes a day after she filed a lawsuit in a Los Angeles court alleging that a nondisclosure agreement she made to keep quiet about an "intimate" relationship with Trump is invalid because he never signed it.

Tuesday's lawsuit says that Trump attorney Michael Cohen — who brokered the agreement with Clifford during the presidential campaign — attempted to "intimidate" Clifford and "shut her up" by initiating what it calls a "bogus arbitration proceeding" against her in Los Angeles on Feb. 27. 

On that day, Cohen obtained a temporary restraining order against Clifford from the private arbitrator, a retired judge, which bars her from disclosing "confidential information" related to the nondisclosure agreement signed in October 2016, according to a copy of the order obtained by NBC News.

Okay so here's a silly question.

If Donald Trump never had a sexual relationship with this woman, as the White House has stated repeatedly, what is the need to keep this woman from telling her, apparently false, story?

And, once again a silly question, why would anybody pay $130,000 to prevent her from telling it in the first place?

By the way as it turns out Sarah Huckabee Sanders was not supposed to spill the beans about that arbitration yesterday.

President Donald Trump is reportedly somewhat less than thrilled with his press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, for her comments during Wednesday’s briefing addressing the Stormy Daniels story. 

According to CNN’s Abby Phillip (citing reporting from Jim Acosta), Trump believes that Sanders essentially breathed life into the Stormy Daniels controversy with her Wednesday remarks. 

“According to this source, Sarah Sanders’ comments were essentially putting the Stormy Daniels storyline on steroids yesterday,” Phillip said.

Oops, Rachel Maddow better make more room on her wall, because it looks like another White House staff may get tossed to the curb.

Damn, this Stormy Daniels story is getting more interesting by the day.

It looks like Donald Trump is finally going to get his military parade.

President Donald Trump’s plans for a White House-backed military parade are beginning to take shape. 

The president has directed the Department of Defense to organize a parade that would take place on Nov. 11 – Veterans Day – according to an unclassified Feb. 20 memo written by National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster. 

The memo, which was summarized to POLITICO by a senior administration official, was sent from McMaster to Secretary of Defense James Mattis. It says that Trump wants Mattis to brief him on “concepts of operation for this event.” 

The memo also said that the parade route should begin at the White House and end at the Capitol. 

Trump, who revels in pageantry, first floated the idea of putting on a military parade after he witnessed France’s Bastille Day parade last summer as a guest of French president Emmanuel Macron.

Quick question, exactly how much brain damage much you have suffered to actually believe this parade has ANYTHING to do with the veterans?

No this is once again about Trump's overwhelming inferiority complex.

His must be bigger, longer, and more impressive.

And since we know it isn't, he is compelled to produce something that is.

And we know exactly who is is comparing his manhood against, don't we?

President Trump announced harsh new shipping sanctions against North Korea on Friday — a clear signal, near the end of an Olympic Games marked by a rapprochement on the Korean Peninsula, that his pressure campaign against Pyongyang will not let up. 

“Today, I am announcing that we are launching the largest-ever set of new sanctions on the North Korean regime,” Mr. Trump was set to say to the Conservative Political Action Conference, according to excerpts of his remarks released by the White House.

And then there's this just today:

Speaking at a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the White House, Trump said that if the sanctions don’t work “we’ll have to go to phase two,” which he said “may be a very rough thing.” 

“We'll have to see,” Trump said. “I don't think I'm going to exactly play that card. But we'll have to see. If the sanctions don't work we'll have to go to phase two. Phase two may be a very rough thing. May be very, very unfortunate for the world.”

“But hopefully the sanctions will work,” Trump added. “We have tremendous support all around the world for what they're doing. It really is a rogue nation. If they can make a deal it will be a great thing. If we can't, something will have to happen. So we'll see.”

"Very rough thing for the WORLD." Not just North Korea, but the world. Keep that in mind folks.

In the past American presidents KNEW that they had nothing to prove, and that they could walk softly because they had a giant stick.

Trump apparently does feel he has such a stick.

And based on his history, he never has.

Which makes him dangerous, very, very dangerous. 

Psychiatrists who warned that Donald Trump was fomenting violence receive threats of violence from Trump fans. Let's call that, point made.

Two psychiatrists who warned that Donald Trump was inspiring violence had their point made, the hard way, when Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) abruptly canceled a planned public meeting with them at a senior center after receiving violent threats about the event. 

According to Bandy X. Lee, an associate professor at Yale who was scheduled to speak at the event, Raskin informed her just 24 hours beforehand that it was off, because going forward would have posed “significant safety risks” to attendees. 

“Sorry about tomorrow night—we’ve been getting so many threats,” Raskin said, according to Lee, the editor of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, a controversial collection of essays arguing that Trump’s affinity for violence represents a danger to the public, and a leading member of the National Coalition of Concerned Mental-Health Experts (full disclosure: the group’s members include Claire Silverman, a psychologist and this reporter’s mother) that’s raised public questions about Trump’s fitness for office. 

Raskin has roused the ire of Trump supporters since he submitted a bill in April of last year calling for the creation of a committee to evaluate the president’s physical and mental fitness. 

“Whenever my boss talks about the 25th Amendment, there will be an uptick in comments on social media, or phone calls, or emails, that contain either explicit threats or generally violent and hateful language,” Lauren Doney, Raskin’s communications director, told The Daily Beast, while confirming that Thursday’s event had been canceled.

Nothing proves that you are not inspiring violence, like your fans threatening to kill everybody who says you are inspiring violence.

Alaska Rep. Don Young once held a knife to the throat of former Speaker of House John Boehner. Not even remotely surprised.

This can be found almost hidden in a rather expansive article on Boehner courtesy of Politico:

Boehner never accepted an earmark in Congress—and he enjoyed railing against those who did. His heckling once provoked Don Young, an Alaskan himself, to pin Boehner against a wall inside the House chamber and hold a 10-inch knife to his throat. Boehner says he stared Young in the eyes and said, “Fuck you.” (Young says this account is “mostly true,” but notes that the two became good friends, with Boehner later serving as his best man.)

I talked with my pal Dennis Zaki about this anecdote last night and we both agreed that this will only help Young politically in Alaska, as most Republicans up here do not really like John Boehner, and a lot of old timers likely see nothing wrong with using a knife to help negotiate a deal.

(I've certainly had my share of knives pulled on me.)

The article also contains other interesting nuggets, including the fact that Boehner had this to say about Congressmen Jason Chaffetz and  Jim Jordan:  

“Fuck Jordan. Fuck Chaffetz. They’re both assholes.”

You know that is the kind of talk which might actually get some Alaskans to change their negative opinion of ole John Boehner. 

Devin Nunes, you may remember him as the guy who tried to derail the Russia investigation, is threatening the Attorney General with prison if he does not provide evidence about the pee pee tape.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions last week in a letter where he threatened Sessions with a public grilling if he doesn't produce documents about the Russia dossier to the House intelligence committee. 

Nunes, who despite stepping aside from directing the House Russia investigation has been leading his own separate investigation, accused Sessions and the FBI of stonewalling him repeatedly in a September 1 letter obtained by CNN. In the letter, he threatened to drag Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray before the committee for a public grilling and hold them in contempt of Congress -- a jailable offense -- if they don't hand over the documents. 

The House intelligence committee issued a pair of subpoenas last month seeking documentation of whether the FBI or Justice Department used material from the dossier compiled by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele as part of the federal investigation into possible collusion between the campaign of President Donald Trump and the Kremlin. Nunes also writes that he subpoenaed to discover whether information from the Russia dossier was used in the crafting of applications to conduct surveillance under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. 

In the letter, which was signed only by Nunes and no other members of the House intelligence committee, Nunes explained that he was extending the deadline for responding to the subpoenas to September 14. But he capped it off with a sharp threat. 

"If all responsive documents are not produced by the revised deadline, the Attorney General and Director of the FBI (Christopher Wray) shall appear before the committee at 9 a.m. on September 14, 2017 in room HVC-210 of the US Capitol during an open hearing, to explain under oath DOJ's and FBI's unwillingness or inability to comply in full with the subpoenas issued on August 24," Nunes wrote.

Nunes closed out his letter by threatening to hold Sessions in contempt of Congress which could result in a year in jail.

So to be clear a Congressman who is really no longer directly involved with the House Russia investigation is threatening the sitting Attorney General with prison if he does not produce evidence that he probably should not have access to in the first place.

Remember Nunes also sent two House staffers to London to ambush Steele and convince him to testify before their bullshit committee.

We know that Mueller's team has seen the evidence and we have been told that both the Senate and House Judiciary committees have seen the evidence, so if Nunes has not seen the evidence it is probably because everybody knows that he will go running to warn Donald Trump about it the minute that he does see the evidence.

Though one would think that if Sessions is in possession of the evidence from the dossier that Trump probably already knows what is in it.

So is this just a case of Nunes feeling left out, or is this something a little more nefarious perhaps?

Simply put, I don't trust this guy. 

Nobel Prize winners name Donald Trump as one of the top threats in the world.

Along with nuclear war and climate change, President Donald Trump has made the list of what Nobel Laureates consider to be major risks to the world population. 

In a survey of 50 Nobel Prize winners in the sciences, medicine, and economics, more than a third of the respondents said damage to the environment brought about by issues like over-population and climate change, was the biggest threat to mankind. Twenty-three percent said nuclear war was their top concern, while six percent said theirs was "the ignorance of political leaders"—with two of the winners naming Trump specifically. 

Peter Agre, winner of the chemistry Prize in 2003, told the Times Higher Education, which conducted the poll and released the results Thursday, that "Trump could play a villain in a Batman movie—everything he does is wicked or selfish." He also called the president "extraordinarily uninformed." 

The survey also found serious concerns among the respondents about the brand of populism pushed by Trump as well as right-wing European leaders. Forty percent of the Nobel winners called Trump-style populism, characterized by his distrust of climate science and the media, and political polarization "a grave threat to scientific progress, while 30 percent say that they are a serious threat."

The only part of this which surprises me is that not more of these geniuses placed Trump as the major risk to the world population.

As for Trump playing a Batman character, he already did.

“I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and I haven’t seen the Klan grow at the pace it’s growing now,” Chris Barker, an Imperial Wizard of the KKK, told The Independent. “I mean, it’s even hard to keep track of the numbers you’ve got ’cause there’s so many coming in.” 

Mr Barker said that after the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville he received 50 applications to join his group in one day. The next day, he received 80.

Mr Barker leads the Loyal White Knights of the KKK, which has less than 200 members. As one of the most active Klan groups in the US, the group takes part in “activism” such as burning crosses, advocating for the murder of immigrants, and distributing leaflets claiming, among other things, “transgender is an abomination”.

This Barker fellow gained some recent notoriety after this exchange with a reporter from Univision.

Oh yeah, he seems nice.

No longer any need for these racist assholes to stay hidden from sight, not in Trump's America where hating the brown people is what defines you as a "real American."

Jurors acquitted two men of charges that could have sent them to federal prison for decades Tuesday, while reaching a split decision for two others, in a retrial that stemmed from the 2014 armed standoff in Bunkerville. 

The four men hugged their attorneys, as about two dozen loyal supporters erupted into cheers from the gallery of a courtroom where they had quietly watched weeks and weeks of testimony. 

Montana resident Ricky Lovelien and Idaho resident Steven Stewart were acquitted of all 10 counts they faced and were expected to be released from custody Tuesday night. 

Stewart cried and nodded his head along with each “not guilty” U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro read aloud, while Lovelien showed little more emotion than a grin.

"Cried and nodded his head."

This man took transported weapons across state lines to use against Federal agents who were just trying to do their jobs and enforce the law.

But when he is sitting before a judge, and facing possible punishment for his crimes, he cries like a little bitch?

And they call liberals "snowflakes."

So yet another domestic terrorist gets released back into the community.

Does anybody think for a second that if these men had brown skin and were named Mohammad that they would not now be spending the remainder of their lives in prison?

Conservative political pundit and National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch took on The New York Times in a video posted by the NRA on Friday in which she says "we're coming for you." 

"We've had it with your constant protection of your Democrat overlords, your refusal to acknowledge any truth that upsets the fragile construct that you believe is real life," Loesch told the Times in the video. 

"And we've had it with your pretentious, tone-deaf assertion that you are in any way truth or fact-based journalism," Loesch continued. 

"Consider this the shot across your proverbial bow. We're going to fist the New York Times and find out just what deep rich means to this old gray hag. This untrustworthy, dishonest rag that has subsisted on the welfare of mediocrity for one, two, three more decades?

"We're going to laser-focus on your so-called 'honest pursuit of truth.' In short, we're coming for you," Loesch said in the video.

Uhhh, so is the NRA threatening the new York Times with violence, of some kind of super aggressive sex play.

As you know I am just an innocent from up North, but isn't "fisting" something that should only take place between two consenting adults, and not inflicted on another person as a form of punishment? #Askingforafriend.

As it turns out, thanks to Dana Loesh's killer spokesperson skills, I, like many others, misheard Loesch who now claims that what she said was,  "We're going to FISK the New York Times."

Huh?

She later took to Twitter to defend herself.

President Donald Trump invited the Republican Senate caucus to lunch to talk about health care on Wednesday. The goal of the lunch was kind of a mystery, considering that enough Republican Senators have already come forward to torpedo both Trump’s signature effort to repeal and replace Obamacare with a program that would cost tens of millions of people their insurance, as well as his back up plan of just repealing it outright in a way that would cost more than 30 million people their insurance. 

It turned out that Trump had brought them to the White House to try to browbeat and harangue recalcitrant Senators into changing their mind. The most emphatic example of this attempted bullying came with Trump's treatment of Nevada Sen. Dean Heller. The seating arrangements conveniently placed Heller, one of the earliest Senators to come out publicly and vociferously against the initial Senate health care bill, next to the president. This offered the insult comic in chief the opportunity to come up with a singularly awkward gibe. 

As it turns out Heller's seat is especially vulnerable, so Trump putting a target on his back should be especially troubling to Mitch McConnell and the GOP.

Besides Heller was not one of the Republican Senators who actually torpedoed the health care plan:

What's especially fun about this is that Heller wasn't even one of the Senators to come out and kill the revised version of the bill, nor did he kill the backup plan of repealing Obamacare without a replacement. That was Sens. Susan Collins, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Jerry Moran in the first instance, and Sens. Collins, Shelley Moore Capito, and Lisa Murkowski in the latter. 

Murkowski, by the way, was sitting several seats over on Trump's left, looking decidedly uncomfortable and completely unconvinced by his pathetic sales pitch.

And what a pitch it was. When Trump was not threatening or shaming the Republican Senators he was outright lying to the American people.

Trump listed off a number of bald faced lies about a bill that it is clear he has never read, including that it will cover more Americans, bring insurance costs down, and still cover all preexisting conditions.

The bill will do none of that, however it will will gut $772 billion in Medicaid funding over the next ten years which will imperil health care for millions of Americans including 5 million special needs children. And it will also kick tens of millions off of their health care plans.

 Perhaps Donald Trump should try selling THAT to the American people?

Republican Congressman threatens that if this Russian probe continues they may have to reopen investigation in to Hillary's private server. I'm sorry, what?

During a CNN interview Wednesday morning, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) issued a threat — if Democrats don’t move on from the enlarging scandal surrounding the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia, Republicans will have no choice but to further investigate the Clintons. 

“If this continues — this immobilization of the presidency over these kind of things — it’s gonna force Congress to do an investigation, a complete and thorough investigation, and that means go back all the way to the 650,000 emails of Anthony Weiner and look at [former FBI Director James] Comey and his activities,” the House Judiciary Committee members said. 

Pushed on the point by CNN’s Alisyn Camerota , King said that Comey and the special counsel investigating Trump are the real colluders. 

“What I’m saying is this, that the Comey investigation — now him picking the special counsel on top of it — on its face, appears to be collusion.”

I am not sure that Steve "calves the size of cantaloupes" King understands what the word "collusion" means.

Boy he really threw all of the hot button talking points out there didn't he?

Anthony Wiener, emails, collusion, James Comey, Hillary Clinton, it's like a list of answers to a wingnut crossword puzzle put together by Alex Jones.

I can only imagine what Hillary's response would be to this threat but I imagine it would go something like this.

New strategy from White House operatives, attack and discredit reporters.

This was buried deep in a WaPo story:

Trump and his advisers are deeply frustrated that the disclosure by Trump Jr. has overshadowed the positive coverage they expected to receive from the president’s trip abroad, as well as other issues they hoped to spotlight this week, such as the Senate health-care bill and trade. 

A handful of Republican operatives close to the White House are scrambling to Trump Jr.’s defense and have begun what could be an extensive campaign to try to discredit some of the journalists who have been reporting on the matter. 

Their plan, as one member of the team described it, is to research the reporters’ previous work, in some cases going back years, and to exploit any mistakes or perceived biases. They intend to demand corrections, trumpet errors on social media and feed them to conservative outlets, such as Fox News. 

But one outside adviser said a campaign against the press when it comes to Trump Jr.’s meeting could be futile: “The meeting happened. It’s tough to go to war with the facts.”

Attacking the press was a feature of Trump's campaign, and has carried over into his actual presidency.

That being said attempting to dig up dirt on journalists in order to embarrass them publicly, or threaten them privately, is on a whole other level.

And the fact that Fox News, or any other news outlet, would cooperate with an operation like this is shameful and demonstrates a complete lack of journalistic ethics.

“When he found out that there may be tapes out there — whether it’s governmental tapes or anything else, and who knows — I think his story may have changed,” Trump said. “You’ll have to take a look at that because then he has to tell what actually took place at the events. And my story didn’t change — my story was always a straight story, my story always was the truth. But you’ll have to determine for yourself whether or not his story changed, but I did not tape.” 

The president acknowledged on Thursday that he was not in possession of any recordings of his former FBI director. But Trump’s reasoning for saying that he did remained a mystery — until Friday, of course, when Fox News aired his interview, in which he conceded that he wanted to keep Comey honest. 

Trump’s confession was especially bizarre considering part of it directly contradicted his own past statements. Trump suggested in his interview with Earhardt that his strategy worked because Comey did not change his story. Earlier this month, Trump accused Comey of lying under oath to Congress.

How does Trump think he kept Comey honest when he wrote down their exchanges immediately after they happened and then simply shared that information with the Senate Intelligence Committee?

The only thing that Trump did with these lies about tapes, is to ensure that there would be a Special Counsel appointed.

So is that what he calls "winning?"

Because it sure feels like winning from my perspective.
