Neo-Nazis hold rally in Georgia. Police show up....and start arresting peaceful counter protesters. Wait, what?

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A Neo-Nazi rally happened in tiny Newnan, Georgia today.

According to some reports, as few as 35 Nazis showed up to hear their leader mock men wearing skinny jeans. To protect them, the state had to send 400 heavily armed law enforcement officers in full riot gear.

But that doesn’t mean things were smoothly. The cops were very aggressive with counter-protestors, according to reports from the scene and videos which show use-of-force arrests because of bandanas.

Huffington Posts’s Christopher Mathias was shocked by the brutality of the cops.

“I just witness the most over-aggressive policing I’ve ever seen in #Newnan,” he wrote on twitter. “Tackling protesters and arresting them… for wearing masks.”

The issue was that anti-Nazi activists covered their faces with bandanas—which the cops responded to with violent confrontations and arrests.

Boy leave it to Georgia to avoid upsetting the actual Nazis, and instead focus their hostility on the folks protesting the Nazis.

I think this is the result of the anti-Antifa mentality (Anifa protesters often cover their faces) that has been promoted by Fox News and Right Wing radio.

So now the police in the South see bandana wearing protesters as the enemy, instead of the swastika wearing fascists.

Seriously, where ARE we right now?

At least one shot fired today as high school teacher held off police for over 30 minutes after barricading himself in a classroom.

Randal Davidson
Courtesy of Time:

A teacher barricaded himself inside a locked classroom at a Georgia high school on Wednesday and apparently fired a single shot from a handgun, authorities said.

No students were in the classroom at the time, and the only injury reported was a student who hurt their ankle running when Dalton High School was evacuated.

The teacher was identified by the Dalton Police Department as 53-year-old Jesse Randall Davidson, a social studies teacher and play-by-play voice of the Dalton football team.

Police spokesman Bruce Frazier said the teacher was taken into custody after a 30- to 45-minute standoff with officers.

Here is more from the Atlantic Journal-Constitution:

The incident at Dalton High School, about 91 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, sent panicked students running through hallways and alarmed parents already on edge in the wake of a mass shooting earlier this month at a Florida high school.

About 11:30 a.m., some students tried to get into Randal Davidson’s classroom and he would not let them in, Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier said.

They alerted the principal. When the principal came to the door and used his key to try to open it, Davidson forcibly closed it on him, Frazier said.

At that point, the principal heard a gunshot. Police have not said what type of gun was used, only that it was a handgun.

"We had officers inside the building quickly,” Frazier said. Officers evacuated a hallway and secured the area first.

During the evacuation, a female student was hurt, police said. That student is being treated by emergency officials for an ankle injury.

As the incident was unfolding at least one Dalton High student made the obvious observation.
You do not know if a person is a "bad guy with a gun" until they do something bad with that gun.

Until then they are just a person with a gun.

And people, even good people, have very bad days.

Having access to a firearm can make that very bad day, a deadly day for them, and for those around them.

In short sending armed, overworked teachers into American classrooms is fucking stupid!

Do you want to see a Trump supporter crying his eyes out while being sentenced to prison for terrorizing a black child's birthday party? Of course you do.

Courtesy of Nova Magazine:

Trump supporter has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for making “terroristic threats.” But now Jose Ismael Torres is hoping to get out.

The racist and others associated with a pro-Confederate “Protect the Flag” group were caught on video disrupting a black child’s birthday party in Georgia. The incident occurred shortly after the massacre of nine black churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina in 2015.

Their taunts led to a confrontation with the family holding the party and Torres was accused of threatening to kill them with a gun.

“Many people tried to make the case about simply flying the Confederate Battle Flag,” Douglas County District Attorney Brian Fortner said in a statement. “This case was about a group of people riding around our community, drinking alcohol, harassing and intimidating our citizens because of the color of their skin.”

Torres was convicted on three counts of aggravated assault, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of violating of Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act in 2017. His girlfriend, Kayla Norton, was also sentenced to 6 years in prison.

Yeah, everybody is super tough when they are driving around in their pickup trucks, waving their Confederate flags around, and threatening children at gunpoint.

But it is a whole different story when they are sitting in a courtroom and being told they will be living in a cage for the next twenty years.

And what is with that young woman saying that what she and her boyfriend did, was "not them?"

Yes, it "was them."

That is why "they" are going to jail.

Donald Trump may be encouraging these people to come out of the shadows, but we still have laws in this country and the shadows are far safer than what awaits them behind bars.

Michigan man arrested after threatening to kill CNN employees over "fake news."

Courtesy of CBS 46:

A Michigan man was arrested after an FBI investigation, accused of threatening to travel to Atlanta to commit mass murder at CNN headquarters.

According to federal court documents, the man, from a Detroit suburb, made 22 calls to CNN about a week ago.

It began with claims of "fake news" and ended with threats of violence.

The man told a CNN operator, among other things, "Fake news. I'm coming to gun you all down."

He then called again, saying "I'm smarter than you. More powerful than you. I have more guns than you. More manpower. Your cast is about to get gunned down in a matter of hours."

He continued, "I am coming to Georgia right now to go to the CNN headquarters to f---ing gun every single last one of you."

So I have a question.

If this lunatic had been successful in killing a CNN news reporter, would that have made Donald Trump legally responsible in any way?

I mean the man has been fomenting violence against the media since he first rode down that escalator to announce he was going to run for president.

And since this is sure to terrify people in the Atlanta community is Donald Trump not also inspiring domestic terrorism?

Tuesday, January 09, 2018

So Donald Trump went to a college football game in Atlanta last night. Didn't go well.

And that was just the football fans.

At least one of the players shared a similar sentiment.
So finally Trump was safely inside the stadium, and all eyes were on him while he honored our country by singing along to the National Anthem.
So is it possible that the man who has been vilifying black football players for taking a knee during the National Anthem, does not even know the damn words?

Such a stable genius.

To be fair Sarah Palin was impressed with Trump's performance.
Booed by football fans, cursed by players, and mocked for forgetting the words to the National Anthem, yeah this president thing is going just great.

Georgia teacher threatens disruptive student's life.

Courtesy of the Atlantic Journal-Constitution:

A Rockdale County teacher is on administrative leave after he was caught on camera during class threatening to “put a bullet” in a student’s head.

The incident happened two weeks ago at Rockdale Career Academy, but the student’s mother, April Carr, told Channel 2 Action News she was not notified by the principal until last week.

“I think it’s a terroristic threat on my son’s life,” she told Channel 2, “that I definitely don’t take lightly.”

Carr said her son and other students were laughing while physics teacher Paul Hagan was at the board. That’s when Hagan made the threats.

Carr posted video of the threat online and Hagan can be heard clearly saying: “You screw with me you’re going to be in big ass trouble. Don’t smile at me, man. That’s how people like you get shot. I got a bet. I bet by the time you’re 21 somebody’s going to put a bullet in your head. OK. And it might be me the one who does it.”

You know when my daughter's mother moved her to Georgia I was upset that she home schooled her instead of sending her to public school.

But after seeing this video I am wondering if that might not be the best choice considering some of the teachers they employ in Georgia.

The mother wants this man fired, and I think that is certainly the appropriate response to something like this.

A Georgia computer central to a lawsuit seeking to change the way votes are counted in Georgia was mysteriously wiped clean. Probably doesn't mean anything, right?

Courtesy of the AP:

A computer server crucial to a lawsuit against Georgia election officials was quietly wiped clean by its custodians just after the suit was filed, The Associated Press has learned.

The server’s data was destroyed July 7 by technicians at the Center for Elections Systems at Kennesaw State University, which runs the state’s election system. The data wipe was revealed in an email sent last week from an assistant state attorney general to plaintiffs in the case that was later obtained by the AP. More emails obtained in a public records request confirmed the wipe.

The lawsuit, filed July 3 by a diverse group of election reform advocates, aims to force Georgia to retire its antiquated and heavily criticized election technology. The server in question, which served as a statewide staging location for key election-related data, made national headlines in June after a security expert disclosed a gaping security hole that wasn’t fixed six months after he reported it to election authorities.

It’s not clear who ordered the server’s data irretrievably erased.

The Kennesaw elections center answers to Georgia’s secretary of state, Brian Kemp, a Republican running for governor in 2018 and the suit’s main defendant. His spokeswoman issued a statement Thursday saying his office had neither involvement nor advanced warning of the decision. It blamed “the undeniable ineptitude” at the Kennesaw State elections center.

After declining comment for more than 24 hours, Kennesaw State’s media office issued a statement late Thursday attributing the server wiping to “standard operating procedure.” It did not respond to the AP’s question on who ordered the action.

Oh yeah, SOMEBODY was very nervous about the data that was stored on that computer.

And possibly for good reason.

30 entire people protest outside CNN headquarters in response to their coverage of Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Atlanta Journal Constitution:

About 30 people gathered outside CNN’s Atlanta headquarters Saturday to protest the network’s coverage of President Donald Trump.

“Beware fake news” and “CNN. Criminal News Network” were some of the messages they delivered to people walking nearby and to fellow political conservatives watching the demonstration via live feed on Breitbart.com.

The protest was the second recently held outside CNN’s headquarters in downtown Atlanta.

Thirty people?

That's not a protest, that's a bus stop.

I could get a larger group than that together to protest too few pickles in McDonald's hamburgers.

One of the organizers — Debbie Dooley, co-founder of the Tea Party activist group Main Street Patriots — said her group was outside CNN a month ago and would be back in August and September.

“We’re going to keep on holding them accountable,” Dooley said.

She said the demonstration was not necessarily to show support for Trump but to call attention to what they see as “biased” coverage of the president, the investigation into Russia’s meddling in last year’s elections, and Trump’s policies.

“We’re here to tell CNN no more fake news,” said another organizer, Melanie Morgan of the Media Equality Project. “They have to know people who are here expect fairness in journalism.”

My favorite part is that Breitbart actually had alive feed to this fiasco.

So while these folks were protesting an actual cable news network for accurately reporting on a president they support, the only aggressive coverage they could attract was from a racist news outlet well known for pushing conspiracy theories and fabricated "news" stories.

Does that about sum this up?

Right Wing PAC makes ad using Scalise shooting to attack progressives who support Jon Ossoff in Georgia runoff election.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

Ahead of the highly anticipated Tuesday special election in Georgia’s 6th District in which Democrat Jon Ossoff is hoping to end Republicans’ stranglehold on the House seat, a fringe conservative group is running an ad tying Ossoff to the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).

No, really. This is not a joke.

Principled PAC is running an ad called ‘Stop the Violent Left.’ Backed by a small five-figure ad buy, the commercial will run on Fox News Sunday and Monday.

In the 30-second spot, video footage of Scalise being taken away on a stretcher while a narrator claims that the “unhinged left is endorsing and applauding shooting Republicans.”

“When will it stop?” the voiceover continues. “It won’t if Jon Ossoff wins on Tuesday, because the same unhinged leftists cheering last week’s shooting are all backing Jon Ossoff. And if he wins. They win.”

I just saw this for the first time on Morning Joe, and almost could not believe my eyes.

According to Morning Joe this ad has been condemned by both sides in the Georgia race, but it is still running on the local Fox News affiliate.

I have to say that it is amazing the changes that have suddenly come over the Right Wing, those who so forcefully touted "2nd Amendment solutions" not to very long ago, now that one of their own has been shot.

It kind of reminds me of a conservative who suddenly supports gay right after their child comes out of the closet.

Hell even Ted Nugent is suddenly calling for civility and claiming that he has turned over a new leaf:

“At the tender age of 69, my wife has convinced me I just can’t use those harsh terms,” he said on the 77 WABC radio program Thursday. “I cannot and will not and I encourage even my friends, slash, enemies on the left, in the Democrat and liberal world, that we have got to be civil to each other.”

“I'm not going to engage in that kind of hateful rhetoric anymore.”

Yeah, I am not at all sure I am buying that one Captain Poopy Pants.

There is a rather stunning amount of hypocrisy in this ad, and in that statement from Nugent.

After all the violent rhetoric has been a feature of the Right Wing for decades now, so to suddenly act the victim and claim that he it's the Left which is filled with homicidal gun wielding maniacs is laughable on its face.

All one has to do is scan the news to see that aggression toward Muslims, the LGBTQ community, and other minorities continues unabated, and that certainly is NOT being perpetrated by those embracing progressive ideals.

Look I hope that we can move to more civility as well, but part of me is still fairly convinced that once the memory of this shooting fades from memory that Right Wing provocateurs will go right back to using violent imagery and language to push their message.

After all it is deeply ingrained in their damn DNA.

Well you knew this was coming, Democrats trying to convince Sally Yates to run for governor of Georgia in 2018.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Some Democrats in Georgia, Yates’s home state, want her to run in the 2018 gubernatorial race on the grounds that her prominent clashes with Trump positions her as a concrete embodiment of the Democratic “resistance.”

Yates, who spent 27 years working in the Justice Department before Trump fired her, has given no public indication that she’s interested in a bid. Still, some top gubernatorial hopefuls in the state are already considering how Yates could alter the race.

“Sally Yates’s calm and strong demeanor showed me she could be a great governor of Georgia. ... Her bold resistance, and how she stood up to a president who ordered her to do something unlawful and unconstitutional, has catapulted her profile,” said Tharon Johnson, a Georgia Democratic strategist and campaign aide to former President Barack Obama.

“She will have to give Georgians a really good reason why she’s not considering running for a constitutional office in 2018.”

I was just talking to one of my friends the other day and saying that I have no doubt that Sally Yates has a future in politics.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Senate seat, but I imagine she would make a fine governor as well.

It's Monday so it must be time for Trump to embarrass himself on Twitter again.

Yes, nothing shows up a President who kept his nation safe for eight years like almost starting two or three wars in your first three months in office.

Is there any air in this lunatic's bubble?
As the Washington Post points out this is a book with blank pages.

In other words Trump is recommending that people "read" a book without any words.

You cannot make this kind of stuff up folks.
Of course when Trump talks about the "fake media" he is really talking about any media that prints facts that the does not want printed.

Fortunately his son helpfully pointed out the REAL source of fake media.

Yep, that's the source alright.  You know, along with every other member of their family, their advisers, Russian puppet masters, supporters, friends, and business partners.
The "super liberal" in question is Jon Ossoff who is terrifying the Republicans with his run for a Congressional seat long considered safe by the GOP.

I also have it on good authority that Ossoff knows how to spell the word "Congressional."

So fucking embarrassed for my country right now.

Two men with "massive arsenal" arrested in Georgia were planning to attack aurora research facility in Alaska.

Courtesy of ADN:

Two men arrested last week in southern Georgia were planning to attack an aurora research facility owned by the University of Alaska Fairbanks around which conspiracy theories of mind control have long swirled, investigators said.

Television station WALB in Georgia first reported Monday that investigators with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Mancil, 30, and James Dryden Jr., 22, on Thursday and said "the massive amount of arsenal seized looked like something out of a movie, one where a small army was headed to war."

Michael Vickers, a detective with the sheriff's office, told Alaska Dispatch News that both men confessed "that God told them to go and blow this machine up that kept souls, so souls could be released."

"All I can tell you is they were planning on blowing up the machine," Vickers said. "Going to try to find a scientist, to steal his car and ID badge to gain access. Any scientist."

Good plan. I wonder if they had an equally well thought out one for getting through Canada with all of those weapons?

But they are wrong about HARP.

It has nothing to do with mind control.

It's true purpose is to develop a weapon that emits a certain frequency which agitates the Right Wing nutjobs and drives them increasingly insane until they can not longer stand it and come out of their place of hiding so that they can be arrested by the police.

I think they call it the "Obama."

Works like a charm don't you think?

And as for souls, what makes them think Alaskans have souls?

I mean have they looked into Sarah Palin's eyes?

"And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee."

Friend says wife killed by handgun because her husband is afraid of black people. Cops remain skeptical.

Courtesy of CBS News:

A friend of a Georgia woman who was shot and killed on Sept. 25 said the woman’s husband had placed the gun in his lap as they drove through Atlanta, because they feared Black Lives Matter protests, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The friend said the .38-caliber revolver accidentally went off when their car hit a bump, shooting 63-year-old Diane McIver as she sat in the passenger seat of the car. McIver died in surgery at Emory Hospital early Monday after the shooting occurred near Piedmont Park.

CBS affiliate WGCL reports that McIver’s husband, Claud “Tex” McIver was directly behind her, in the backseat as Diane’s best friend drove.

Bill Crane, who is friends with the McIvers, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the couple retrieved their gun from the center console because they feared a carjacking amid recent Black Lives Matter protests.

Well that seems like a flimsy excuse as to why there was a gun out and why it supposedly fired on its own and killed somebody.

And do you know what? The police agree:

Atlanta Police, however, told the paper the shooting “more complicated” than Crane’s account, but they wouldn’t elaborate. The case is being investigated as a homicide, but no charges have been filed.

That's right white people, blame it on the black guy.

And of course that just feeds into the meme that all crime is committed by African Americans and reinforces the idea that the police can treat them as criminals even before they have been accused or convicted of anything.

No wonder these people are marching in the streets.

In Georgia 2nd Amendment protected 18 month old from ever making it to his 2nd birthday.

Courtesy of Yahoo:

Police are investigating the death of an old 18-month-old Georgia boy who died from a gunshot wound to the head in his home, police said.

Police told WSBTV that around 3 p.m. two brothers, 18 months and 3 years old, were inside of a bedroom with family members when an adult set down a loaded .45 caliber handgun.

One of the brothers reportedly picked up the handgun and pulled the trigger, killing the 18-month-old, but they are not sure which one.

"There were adults in the room at the time, but the adults were not paying attention to what was going on. They did not actually see the incident occur," Henry County police Lt. Mike Ireland said in an interview.

Yeah I know, someone somewhere used a gun to scare off some burglar/home intruder/ex-husband. And that makes the death of this child okay somehow.

But it really doesn't.

Especially since it is only one of almost 500 children killed or injured by gun violence so far this year.

Hillary Clinton's new campaign ad uses Trump's words against him, again.

Okay I'm not going to lie that kind of freaks me out a little.

I try really hard to not think about Donald Trump as President, and that ad just brought all of my fears right to the surface.

Thankfully as of right now the polls are showing that even if Jesus himself came down to endorse Donald Trump he would probably lose the election.

In fact the Clinton campaign is so confident that they are not even going to bother to run ads in the swing states of Virginia and Colorado.

And that confidence is understandable since Hillary is now tied with Trump in Georgia which has not voted Democratic since 1992. You know, when Hillary's husband was on the ballot.

Yeah well confidence is fine, but over confidence is how that racist conservative turtle beat that totally awesome progressive hare in THEIR race.

Former Cobb Country Republican chairman indicted on charges of child molestation, cruelty to children, and sexual battery.

Courtesy of AJC:

A Cobb County grand jury has indicted the county’s former Republican Party chairman on 13 counts, including child molestation, cruelty to children and sexual battery.

Joseph Russell Dendy, 71, was arrested in May at his West Cobb home and charged with aggravated child molestation and child molestation after allegedly molesting two boys, ages 4 and 12, during separate incidents at his home. Dendy has also been charged with similar crimes in South Carolina, according to Cobb County police and the District Attorney’s Office.

On Thursday, Dendy was indicted on four counts of child molestation, four counts of first-degree cruelty to children, three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, and one count each of aggravated sexual battery and aggravated child molestation, the indictment states. He was being held without bond Monday at the Cobb jail.

Of course this guy taught Sunday school and was considered an upstanding Christian in his community.

That it always the camouflage they use to hide their true nature.

Texas "values" group claims that Disney and other major corporations "declared public war on religious freedom" because they do not support hating on the gays.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

A Texas-based “values” group is blasting a number of major American companies for having the nerve to demand equal rights for LGBT people.

Texas Values called Apple, Disney, Intel and the NCAA “corporate bullies” for pressuring Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) into vetoing a bill that would have allowed discrimination against LGBT people.

A number of companies spoke out against the bill; Disney also threatened a boycott, saying it would stop filming in the state if the bill became law.

In response, Texas Values claimed the companies had “declared war“ on religion:

"It’s striking that the day after Easter, churches in Georgia are told their freedoms are not that important to protect. It’s clear that corporate giants like Apple, Disney, NCAA, Intel have finally come out of the closet and declared public war on the religious freedom of clergy and religious schools, as was the protection in Georgia’s very modest HB 757 that they worked to bring down."

So I guess, according to these folks, that if you embrace Jesus's teachings that you should love your fellow man, that means you are attacking Christianity.

I swear, I will never understand religion.

Today's two year old shooting themselves with their parent's gun brought to you by the great state of Georgia.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A two-year-old boy accidentally shot himself Monday with a gun he apparently pulled out of his mother’s handbag and was fighting for his life, authorities in the US state of Georgia said.

“That child has been rushed to an area hospital and is currently in critical condition and currently in surgery,” said Mark Lavigne, spokesman for the DeKalb County police department.

Lavigne said the circumstances were under investigation but “the information we’re getting is that it is accidental, it’s not an intentional act.”

The child, who has not been identified, apparently took the handgun out of his mother’s bag and shot himself in the stomach.

The family, who were from neighboring North Carolina, were staying in a hotel in Lithonia, east of Atlanta, at the time of the incident.

I would say that I am tired of writing these posts about little children getting shot with their parent's guns, but part of me thinks that I should be able to hold on until parents finally get tired of rushing those children to the hospital, or attending their funerals, after they have shot themselves with their parent's gun.

But I'm just kidding myself aren't I?

Because it seems that long after my fingers cramp up from age and can no longer type out the words on my keyboard, children will continue dying in this country from guns that their parents purchased to protect them from harm.

Perhaps we should give thanks for the existence of the 2nd Amendment. Just imagine how overrun with happy healthy children this country would be without it.

Three year old finds gun and promptly shoots herself in the leg. Sadly this is considered a positive outcome for a shooting in America.

Courtesy of Newsweek:

The 3-year-old daughter of a Georgia sheriff's deputy accidentally shot herself in the leg in Dodge County, according to the local news channel WMGT.

The little girl, who was not identified because of her age, is the daughter of Deputy Dorian Johnson and Lakeasha Smith. Dodge County Sheriff Lynn Sheffield told local media that while moving some furniture around in the family's home, Smith had removed the gun from a chest of drawers and put it on the bed. At the time, Smith believed the girl was in a different room, but it appears that the child crawled onto the bed, picked up the gun and shot herself in the right leg.

The weapon was a personal firearm of Johnson's, not a police-issued gun. He was not at home during the incident.

I actually feel badly for this father since it seems he took steps to keep his firearm out of the reach of his daughter. However a gun in the house, by definition increases the likelihood that somebody will be shot, whether on purpose of accidentally.

The minute this firearm entered the house the possibility of his child being shot went up 100%.

Simply put guns are designed to kill. Even guns owned by law enforcement professionals.

8 year old girl dies after gun falls to the floor while her mother braids her hair.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A Georgia girl was killed in an apparently accidental shooting that also wounded her mother.

Marsha Lynch said she was braiding her daughter’s hair when a handgun fell to the floor and fired, striking her in the leg and then shooting her 8-year-old daughter in the head.

Sharia Lynch died from the gunshot wound before she could be airlifted to an area hospital.

Not a day goes by where some child is not killed by a gun in this country.

And yet every single one of these weapons were undoubtedly purchased because their owners believed that having them would be them and their loved ones safe.

That is the mindset created by the NRA and its supporters, and that is the mindset which needs to be changed before we can take the important steps necessary to protect the lives of our children.

This has gone on fucking long enough, and the time for change is now.
