Why? Why are you staying silent? This is why we don't see any change. People need to contact their congressman, their senator, the damn President! Let them know that you do not agree with these policies! If you don't say it it won't get said!
This is their justification for not speaking out.
"I'm against it. I was against it in the beginning," said Allison, a 51-year-old accountant from Kansas City, pausing on her way to the bank. However, she added, "We just can't walk off. Whatever the cost - in money and lives - we have to put this thing to bed."
"It's a tough one," said Diana Seadler, 43, of San Jose, Calif. "From day one I never felt like we were able to go over there and do what we wanted to do. But now all of our troops are over there. I understand why the president doesn't want to pull them back, because then it's like all of the lives were lost, and for what?"
That line of reasoning makes me crazy! The question is how many more lives need to be lost before we accept the fact that we cannot create this nation in our image. We need these soldiers and national guard troops home! We need to stop hemorrhaging money toward Iraq and start paying our bills here at home! This is war is no longer an option for America, Katrina showed us that we are in desperate straits right here in America! No more fucking around, call it a day and bring our heroes home to help protect their families from this crisis and whichever crisis is coming next!
