You know when all is said and done I believe that this is the real hidden agenda in the Intelligent Design/Creationist movement. I think that those in the hierarchy know full well that Creationism will never be taught in our public school science classes, but that the debate will cause many to question the validity of science. That, in my mind, is a criminal enterprise.
In the short run the very religious may be able to keep more members in their churches swallowing their mind numbing load of bullshit, but in the long run they are doing irreparable harm to the youth of today who will be our leaders tomorrow. We are already falling behind other countries without such influential religious influences.
China is wasting no resources in training their children to take the lead in technological and biological research and is squeezing past us to become the newest Superpower. They are not held back by any fear of science and are making amazing progress in a multitude of various fields. Our ignorance is already costing us in the world market.
We cannot afford to allow these few, loud, ignorant voices to set the tone for how we instruct our children. It is time to force them to stop interfering and to go back to saving souls and to stop damaging our children's minds.
