The informant who sparked last week's New York City subway threat alert has admitted it was a hoax, CNN reported Tuesday.
The network reported that the informant admitted providing false information.
The informant had claimed that al-Qaida operatives in Iraq were plotting to attack the city's subways using baby strollers packed with remote-controlled explosives. The reported threat said the attacks could occur as early as last Friday.
Authorities said earlier the interrogation of three suspects arrested by U.S. forces in Iraq has so far produced no information to corroborate a possible threat.
Gee I wonder what prompted this guy to call in this threat now? Was he just sitting aroung bored one day and thought "You know New York hasn't been terrorized lately. I should do something about that."
By the way, the guy who made this up is a terrorist! If he made these threats ourt of his head then he is no longer an informant he is a terrorist! And he needs to be prosecuted as such. Also his phone resords need to be siezed and anybody who cantacted him before or dierectly after the threat needs to be brought in for questioning.
There is something very fishy here. The timing is much too suspicious for me to get my tinfoil wrapped mind around. Why did this threat emerge right when Karl Rove is getting ready to be indicted? We already know that Karl will resort to anything to smear an informant or divert the media's attention. I hope that the Justice Department gets their hands on this so-called informant and they start mentioning his possible stay in Guatanamo Bay and see if he doesn't start singing some administration themed songs.
