Congressman Murtha responds to Bush's bullshit with a dose of reality.

There is a video here on Crooks and Liars but I will sum up the high points.

Murtha mentioned that the troops have been deployed two, three, four and five times to Iraq and that they are exhausted by the experience. (I think back on Vietnam and cannot think of anybody who claimed to have been deployed more then twice!).

Recruitment of new military personnel is stalled.

The military is broken by this administrations policies.

The war has cost 277 billion dollars so far. There is 50 billion currently on the table. Next year according to Murtha the Pentagon is going to ask for an additional 100 billion dollars! That will make it a grand total of 427 billion and counting on this war of choice that they lied us into.

I found this to be even more shocking. According to Murtha the National Guard is at its lowest state of readiness since the 1940's and is unable to respond effectively to any national disasters which might happen here in this country. Isn't that their main job?

So the will of the American people is not what is ultimately going to decide how much longer we can stay the course in Iraq. We will be unable to keep troop levels viable without completely destroying our military and leaving our own country absolutely defenseless in the case of an attack.

Hyperbole is all this administratin has left and if they cannot turn words into bullets then they have left us even more vulnerable then we were before 9-11. Everything that they have promised has turned out to be a lie. How much longer will we let them get away with this?
