KONG IS KING!

I just got back from seeing this movie. I don't usually do movie reviews of any kind but I have heard some disturbing things about this movie not doing well and so I thought I would offer my two cents.

The first thing you have to do is completely suspend you disbelief. There is very little that could be called logical in this movie. But once you open your mind this movie will rock you to your core. It starts off a little slow as we are introduced to the main characters, but it definitely picks up when Naomi Watts comes on the screen. The girl definitely has it! She is the heart and the soul of a movie that has plenty of both heart and soul.

Once you get to Skull Island hang on to your armrests because there are plenty of frights, gross outs, and thrilling moments to keep you riveted to your seat. I would suggest that very young children (I suggest anybody seven and under, but as a parent use your best judgment) stay at home as some of the scenes are pretty skin crawlingly creepy.

I defy anybody to not at least choke up over the final scene as it fairly tears at your heart with large monkey hands. Kong is amazing. Some of the effects are a little too noticeable and I found myself taken out of the movie a couple of times. But I would never deign to nitpick this movie because it certainly delivers the goods.

So, all fifteen of you who visit this website, I suggest that you waste no time and go support Mr. Jackson in his latest celluloid adventure. It will be money well spent. (But if I were you I would go to the matinee and save a few bucks.)

P.S. By the by, this movie is not racist! I do not know what kind of mental deficient individual thought that one up but they are way off! One of the main heroes in the film is African American and his skin color is never an issue anywhere in the movie. The natives are dark skinned but are portrayed as frightened and not evil. Kong is an animal and not the embodiment of the black male stereotype. He is attracted to Ann not so much because she is white but because she makes him feel happy. She clowns around and interacts with him which the frightened natives did not dare do. To the natives Kong is their God. To Ann he is an at first frightening and then lonely creature who she feels drawn to.
