Okay I have a challenge.

Since there now so many visitors coming here with a different ideological viewpoint then mine, I have a challenge for you and my liberal visitors.

Who, on your side of the fence, do you wish would just shut up! And why?

Now remember many of my more conservative visitors have bragged about being intellectually more honest then us liberals so I expect you to back that assertion up.

I will go first. I wish that James Carville would just shut up! The "Ragin Cajun" has always irritated the hell out of me! Even when I agree with him his voice and his scrunched up face grate all over my nerves. Half of the time I cannot even understand what the hell he is saying!

Okay that is mine. I have more but I will not volunteer them until I get some feedback in the comments section from some of you. I am curious as to whether we have any, from either the left or right, in common.

    Nancy Pelosi.

Though I firmly believe that Ms. Pelosi always comes through for Babylon by the Bay, and I will vote her back into office repeatedly, I don't think that she's the leadership that the Democratic party needs right now.

Pelosi always sounds shrill and hollow when she talks up the hard left of the party while voting like "conservative lite".

  2. Kvatch - you do realize that if the Aramhoff proceedings bring down Hastert and there is an Impeachment of the Administration ( and yes these are HUGE if's ) that Ms.Pelosi would be sworn in as President?? ( no joke a bunch of Constitutional Scholars on FireDogLake pointed this out)

Now back to the annoying Question: Actually I have TWO ( sorry but they are in a tie)

    (1) Hillary ( yes, I know, but she still annoys me) She is so BORING...it's like watching someone order the Diet Platter at IHOP.....there is no passion, no emotion, no fire....just " I am so polite, could you please pass the Man , Monica"

    (2) Daryn Kagyn on CNN in the friggin morning, with her little I slept-with-Rush HorseShoe necklace ( yes, he gave it to her...) and the thought of those two together...pass the emesis basin..thank you...

    I nominate "Jesse 'Gryphen'".

Did you really not know that the section of ANWR proposed for development is on the Arctic coast and is completely dark at this time of year?

I refer to your comments here:

    http://beautifulatrocities.com/archives/2005/12/leading_democra.html#comments

Your comment was an embarassment to Alaskans. BTW, I read the 55+ comments on your red and blue state divide post and wonder if you have followed up with a read or three of http://www.denbeste.nu/. I infer that you are oblivious to the honor of receiving a comment on your blog from Stephen Den Beste.

My recommendation: Take an immediate, lengthy hiatus from the blogging of standard-issue lefty blather and proceed to read everything written by Mr. Den Beste. This is free advice of course so you know what it's worth ...

    Fellow Alaskan

  4. Yeah I did indeed stick my foot in my ass with the ANWR statement. I am so used to correcting misrepresentations about Alaska that I completely forgot to consider the exact geography of ANWR.

Sorry to have embarassed you I will strive to do better in the future.

No fair picking guys like Chuck Hagel and Pat Buchanan who left the reservation long ago. And the O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity axis are a bit unfair beacuse it's their job to be loudmouths (so I disagree with the Carville pick too).

    Rick Santorum
    James Dobson
Ayn Rand (I know she's dead but her followers pick up the slack)
    Brent Bozell
    John McCain
    Ted Stevens and Don Young

I'm sympathetic to a lot of what McCain believes and the vast majority of what Rand believed, but sometimes they (and her followers) are completely unable to remove their heads from their rectums and that's usually when they are making the most noise.

Stevens and Young are the porkmeisters from Alaska who have ceased in any way to even pretend about good governance.

Santorum and Dobson are pretty obvious picks.

Bozell takes a fair point, but one whose importance has been eviscerated by the emergence of new avenues of available news. Whether some media outlets are biased or not (they all are in one direction or the other) matters little when outlets of every imaginable slant are easily available to most who would want to use them. Bozell screams outrage at what is best an extremely minor issue.

  6. It is good to see the conservatives chime in. I will volunteer another one.

    John Kerry.

I voted for him, but I was really just voting against Bush. I would have voted for Donald Duck if he had been running.

I literally almost doze off every time Kerry speaks. The guy has zero charisma and he is too often driven by opinion polls.

If the Democrats nominate him again I may just have to boycott the election in 2008.

Definitely Rick Santorum and James Dobson (though I'm not a conservative so I wouldn't call either of them 'on my side' anyway).

On the pro-this-war side, anyone who advocates 'nuking them all' should shut up right now. That's precisely the kind of thing that most of us, believe it or not, are trying to keep from happening.

I've gotta go with Alaska Jack. Definitely Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. Though, being a pagan myself, I'm not sure they qualify as my side.

On the other hand, speaking as a Libertarian, I'm with Anon in dearly wishing the Randians would shut up (and get a grip). While I agree with most of what Rand wrote, a lot of it was complete tosh. For all her intelligence, she was a sad, neurotic, obsessive woman, and treasuring her every utterance as socio-intellectual gospel is rankest folly.

Mickey Kaus once wrote something about Kerry that made me laugh. It was when Kerry was being criticized for being inconsistent, a flip-flopper, etc. Kaus said that was wrong, that Kerry was in fact completely predictable. He would always, every time, take whatever stand he considered politically expedient at the moment.

  10. Jack where are your contributions to this discussion? I see you enjoy heaping abuse on my choices but are too timid to offer your own?

Huh? See my post of 11:19.

(And then achillea's post of 10:19, agreeing with my contribution)

PS Also, what do you mean by "heaping abuse on my choices?" Do you mean heaping abuse on the individuals you chose, or the choices themselves? Because I haven't heaped anything on the latter, and as far as the former (that would be John Kerry), you yourself "heaped abuse" on him, so I don't understand why you would find this objectionable. I don't get it.

  12. Australia people chiming in...that is so interesting..and I don't think you should be nominated for this competition- that kind of breaks the rules anyways- since it is your competition....

    Donald Duck???
well, the speeches would certainly have been better....

  13. I would pay $10 for McCain to shut up. And I'd give him another $10 to retire. He's not conservative anymore. Heck, I'd give him $5 just to change his (R) to a (D).

Boy, that would be a well spent twenty-five dollars!

I don't want anyone to shut up. I would however like to have the microphone removed from the hand or collar of those who cannot articulate a reasoned argument in favor or opposition to any given question. There are a number of people who are given air time on a regular basis who have proven themselves to be habitual liars, some criminals. G Gordon Liddy, Oliver North and yet to be proven Rush Limbaugh leap to mind as people I wish other people would stop listening to.
