Uh Oh! Uncle Ted is being a dick again.

Democratic leaders are furious that Sen. Ted Stevens wants to use the Defense Department spending bill to push a measure to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said it's an insult for Republican leaders to "exploit" the Pentagon bill that way.
"Just when you think you have seen it all, they've taken drilling in the ANWR off the budget bill, and now they want to put it on the Department of Defense bill," she said. "Nothing is sacred to them."

Her Senate counterpart, Harry Reid, called it "outrageous" that Republican leaders "would abuse their power by holding our troops hostage at a time of war."

Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., called it a "desperate scheme" and said it is "not right by our fighting men and women."

Ow! Damn Ted you even pissed of Joe Lieberman! I thought you Republicans had him in your pocket!

You know I remember the 80's in Alaska. Ahhh....the streets were paved with gold and we lit our gigantic doobies with $100 bills. Good times.

I also remember hundreds of little crappy strip malls sprouting up in what was once untouched wooded areas. Strip malls which still, to this day, sit unoccupied. There was graft, waste, and a flood of assholes from the lower forty-eight.

Let me tell you who benefited the most from the oil boom of the seventies and eighties. The strippers! It was nothing for these gals to get hundred dollar bills stuffed into their g-strings and to get some oil splattered roustabout to buy $250.00 bottles of champagne and then dance for them until their pockets were empty. Some of these "ladies" were driving $100,000.00 sports cars and sending their bratty kids to private schools.

Hell, I even oiled myself up and danced for some of these oil workers wives. They had lots of money to spend too! I felt cheap and tawdry, and the oil made the money stick together, but I ate well.

So I guess I am ambiguous concerning opening ANWR to drilling. It would help our economy for sure. But at what cost? Our Polar Bears are already drowning due to global warming. Do we really want to destroy the habitat of every other one of our woodland creatures? Well I don't.

But if we do then I guess I will have to dig out my old Speedo and find some ladies with low standards and see if I can make a buck or two. Gotta love capatalism!
