The abduction of a Christian Science Monitor reporter in Iraq on Saturday was not disclosed by major U.S. media outlets for nearly two days after the Monitor requested that the incident, and the reporter's name and affiliation, be withheld. A translator was killed in the incident and the reporter, now identified by the Monitor as Jill Carroll, is still being held. Okay so it is not Christine Amanpour. But still this is very upsetting when a journalist is taken in Iraq. And forgive me for being chivalrous but it is worse when it is a female. I am not a religious person so I cannot offer prayers but I do hope that she is returned safely and lives to write a riveting report about her experiences.
Okay so it is not the looker...or the Famous one..but she is indeed brave and courageous- and she also thank heavens is a diplomatic soul and well aware of the religous components of this, and a very sensitive writer....so I pray that she can talk her way through to them....I hate to say this but I fear that the target might have been more of her translator- a Christian that has been interviewed and filmed quite a bit- and was almost more well known than her....( they shot him in the head in front of her)...( I learned this from asian papers and BBC in the middle of the night...)...I wonder if Chalabi had a hand in this...( google Chalabi +kidnappings + journalists)...
ReplyDeleteOh I beg to differ enigma darling. I saw Miss Carroll on some news footage and she is indeed a looker!
ReplyDeleteYou just have to pull that stupid scarf thing off of her head and she is very pretty.
But that is not the issue. Any of our brave journalists that are taken by these terrorists deserve the same emotional response from us. My point was if she turned out to be attractive then she would get much more media coverage and I believe that is what is starting to happen.
oh, gryphen I apologize....I knew what you meant...really I did...(- that made me look pretty insensitive- eh?)...just all day they were showing her with her glasses and black scarf...(pretty smart to blend in...)
ReplyDeleteI hope she makes it...
