The Democrats in 2006

I just sat through "The Chris Matthews Show", which is getting harder and harder every time.

On the show the question before the "Matthews meter" was "Will the Dems win back the House in 06?"

The vote from his panel came down like this;

No 10
Yes 2

Do you agree with this?

    I'm not exactly bullish on the Dems taking control of the House either. This is mainly because only a few House races can be expected to be genuinely competitive in the general election, as most House seats are fairly safe for the incumbent party (meaning most of the real campaign action in each of those races will come in the incumbent party's primary). The Dems will need to win the vast majority of those few competitive general-election campaigns to have enough representatives to take back the House - hardly an impossible feat, especially if any GOP incumbents in those competitive races are brought down by Abramoff - but still a tall order.
