Alberto Gonzales: "Laws? We don't need no stinking laws!"

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales made clear Wednesday that the White House is not seeking congressional action to inscribe the National Security Agency's monitoring into U.S. law, even as members of Congress negotiate with the Bush administration about legislation. Gonzales maintained the program is legal the way it is.

"There's a general consensus — quite frankly — that this is a needed program" designed to listen to al-Qaida's communications, Gonzales told the National Association of Attorneys General Wednesday. "The concern I think that people have, which is a natural concern, is that, is this a limited program?"

You know that seemed a little complicated to me. Let me see if I can translate it into language that the administration must surely use behind closed doors.

"Look we are above the law. We don't need to justify our actions to a bunch of nobodies who did not get elected to the highest office in the land! We will pretend that we give two shits about the constitution and the deteriorated paper it is written on but we all know that until they can stop us we are going to do whatever we damn well please!"

Well sure I pulled the above translation out of my ass, but to be fair my ass has a pretty good track record for accuracy. And you know it is much more believable then anything Rumsfeld might say.
