Another dog has met his maker in the Iditarod.

A second dog has died on the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Officials with the Iditarod say Bear, a 3-year-old male from the team of Healy musher David Sawatzky, died on the trail Saturday between the Cripple and Ruby checkpoints.

A necropsy will be performed on Bear to determine the cause of death.

On Thursday, a 4-year-old male named Yellowknife, from musher Noah Burmeister's team, died from pneumonia.

It is tough race and there may be more fatalities.
