"F— you!"
The movie star's argument — directed at the likes of presidential wannabes Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Kerry and John Edwards — is actually more nuanced than that.
"Just look at the way so many Democrats caved in the runup to the war. In 2003, a lot of us were saying, where is the link between Saddam and Bin Laden? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? We knew it was bulls—.
"Which is why it drives me crazy to hear all these Democrats saying, 'We were misled.' It makes me want to shout, 'F— you, you weren't misled. You were afraid of being called unpatriotic.'"
Well you know nobody will accuse Clooney of being a diplomat, but they cannot fault him for not being completely candid.
George is right!
He is absolutely spot on with this accusation.
I have also listened to the Democrats trying to defend or explain why they voted to give the authorization to Bush to use military force against Saddam if necessary. And no matter what convoluted logic they come up with the truth is exactly what George Clooney has said.
We were all in a state of shock. Americans were pissed! We wanted payback. When George Bush said he was going to take the fight to the enemy we cheered! How could the Democrats stand in the way of the nations desire for revenge? They couldn't! What has happened to this country is the result of being part of the mob mentality. A large group of people sharing a single emotion and waiting for direction. Bush gave us that direction. He pointed and we attacked. First to Afghanistan with no hesitation. Then to Iraq with only a moments hesitation.
I think that the Democrats need to come to terms with what they have done. They need to take the approach that John Edwards has taken. He simply said he was wrong. I accept that. For me he has gained back a lot of his integrity by admitting that point. The others in his party would be smart to follow his example, or we are just not going to trust any of them.
