I won't be in the audience for this. Nor will I rent it and watch it in the security of my home. I just can't.
Four days. That is how long I sat and watched the coverage of September 11th. I watched CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and all of my local network news coverage. I canceled appointments, I skipped going to the gym, I hardly spoke about any other topic. I was numb.
Eventually my wife turned of the television and insisted I do something else. She was right. I still watched though. Not constantly but intermittently. Every time there was some new angle, or a kernel of information, I had to see or hear it. And every time I saw it I suffered a little bit more.
It was the most horrific thing I had ever seen. It changed me. It changed my country. And not all for the best. It made us scared. It made us paranoid. It made us follow a leader who had no idea what he was doing. It is the reason that you are reading these words right now.
So no I have no desire to sit through this again. If you want to you have my blessing. But not me. Never me.
