Christian Science Monitor releases statement on Jill Carroll's behalf.

The statement cleared up a number of misunderstandings concerning Jill Carroll.

The statement said that the night before her release she was told that to gain her freedom she would need to make the video that we have all seen praising her captors. Her statement says that Miss Carroll considers the men who captured her and killed her translator to be "criminals".

The statement also said that the video of her in the Islamic news agency also did not accurately reflect how she felt and that she did not feel comfortable expressing her true feelings concerning her captives. She went on to say that her statement that she was not threatened was not accurate and that she had indeed been threatened several times.

Many right wing bloggers have been unrestrained in their vicious attacks on Miss Carrroll and I am certainly looking forward to seeing these individuals eat their words, because their behavior was unconscionable!

I would like to once again say how happy I and most Americans are to see Jill Carroll home safely.

Update: Here is a link to Jill Carroll's entire statement.
