In 2004, Vieira, her husband (a former CBS producer who's written of his long struggle with MS), and her teenaged daughter actually marched against the war in Iraq on the eve of the GOP convention in New York (as pictured at the top of this post). She spoke of it immediately afterwards on ABC's "The View":
I don't know if you saw the cover of the New York Post, but I believe this is me right here on the cover [which had a picture of hundreds of people]. I went to that demonstration yesterday, not because I'm, you know what, I didn't go anti-Bush or pro-Kerry, I'm still so upset about this war and I'm so proud I live in a country where you can protest.
Are you kiddding? She marched in an anti-war protest? I think my nipples just got erect again.
Earlier, in 2004, in June, Vieira was even more explicit during a discussion about Saddam Hussein regarding her "view" of the war in Iraq:
"Who knows anymore because everything's been built on lies. Everything! I mean the entire pre-text for war."
You tell it sister! But the question remains can she pull off the tough interview with an evasive subject?
Check out her handling of Ann Coulter on "The View" in 2003:
Vieira: "In your last book you said liberals have been wrong about everything in the last half century. You ticked us off over that one, alright. And now in this new book you say that liberals hate freedom...I want to talk about your politics because in Treason you say, yes, that liberals hate America."
Ann Coulter: "Right."
Vieira: "Well, it's stupid. What do you mean liberals hate America?"
Well now I am in love! A real Liberal in the so-called "liberal media". Who da thunk it?
