In the interest of fairness here is a Fundamentalist Christian who will tell you why you cannot be a Jesus loving liberal.

This guy makes a number of blanket statements about liberals which are designed to frighten his target audience. They are, of course, mostly wrong. Let's take them one at a time.

1. Christianity to be scrubbed from government and whatever turf the government owns. Thanks to the liberals, the Ten Commandments have about as much acceptance in our government and their properties as Rush Limbaugh would at Al Franken's family reunion.

Okay he is not entirely wrong here. I don't think it is appropriate to display the Ten Commandments in a public forum. It just seems to sort of discriminate against the non-believers. Personally I don't get terribly excited about it one way or the other.

2. Secularism to be continually mainlined into our public school system.

I am not sure exactly what is meant by this. If he means that the curriculum should not favor one religious belief over another then I guess he is right again. If he is saying that public schools teach Secular Humanism as a religious belief then he is ignorant.

3. Public officials, employees and appointees to be pressured to hide their faith in the closet and suppress their public displays of belief in God lest they be grouped with Hitler, Osama, or Mussolini and then fired.

Well there is a sentence designed to inflame the faithful isn't it? I don't care if a person is Christian, a Hindu, a Buddhist, or even a Scientologist. If they are a good, ethical person who will do a competent job then I will vote for them. I don't judge people's ability based on their superstitions. I worked with a great Wiccan pre-school teacher once. Delightful young lady!

4. Public attacks on churches and Christians and attempts to restrict them in the private sector.

Once again I, personally, would not advocate restricting access to buying property or establishing churches based on the groups religious beliefs. I would even be willing to have a church of Satanism in my neighborhood if they seemed like nice people. It would sure make the neighborhood barbecue more interesting!

5. The continued media endorsement of the same putrid, hedonistic stuff that sunk ancient civilizations. With the liberals in place, expect more weird crap in movies and on television. Expect to see more paintings of Christian symbols and saints smeared with elephant dung.

Art is art. I don't choose a movie based on the fact that the villain is a Christian, a Muslim, or of any other religious affiliation. I go to movies to be entertained. Some movies do have strange content, like that "Passion of the Christ" movie. That damn thing was like having a really bad acid trip! (I imagine) As for the elephant dung Madonna painting, I can't imagine finding that aesthetically pleasing. I would avoid it.

To sum up it seems to me that the people who have the agenda are not the non-religious, it is the hyper-religious. Every time we say that we don't want their beliefs foisted upon us they claim religious intolerance. That is just bullshit! The only thing that I am intolerant of is people who demand that I pay homage to their religion just because they happen to be in the majority in this country. That is true religious intolerance.
