Two U.S. soldiers who went missing after an attack on their checkpoint have been found dead and were tortured before being killed, an Iraqi defense official said on Tuesday.
Iraqi Defense Ministry official Major General Abdul Aziz Mohammed told Reuters the bodies of Privates Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, and Kristian Menchaca, 23, were found by a joint U.S.-Iraqi force on Monday near an electricity plant in Yusufiya, the area in which they were abducted on Friday.
He said the bodies showed signs of "barbaric torture."
Most Americans know that these young men died for a war that should never have been waged. The idea that there are many more to come is frustrating to all of us.
This 2006 election must not be allowed to pass without there being a real indictment on the war and those that lied to Congress so that they could wage this war. NOBODY who still supports this conflict should be allowed to retain their office.
It is the least we can do for these brave men and women.
