The three-term senator faces a tough Aug. 8 primary challenge from Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont. Lieberman, who has been criticized by fellow Democrats for his support of the war in Iraq and a perceived closeness with President Bush, is popular among many unaffiliated and Republican voters in Connecticut.
Lieberman also filed papers with the secretary of the state's office Monday to create a new party called Connecticut for Lieberman.
Connecticut for Liberman? Check the ego on this guy. Does he really think that he has that much support? I think that somebody is headed for a rude awakening.
You know I was just going to trash Lieberman for supporting the war and for serving as George Bush's American "poodle". But then I started thinking. (Now for any of you Republicans out there, "thinking" is when I stop acting impulsively and use my "brain" to try and truly understand an issue.)
Anyhow I started thinking, and it occurred to me that Liberman had a point. (Did you just spit up your drink on your monitor?) No he does, he has a point. He has an honest point of view about the war that is out of sync with most of his Democratic voters. But what are we asking him to do? Are we asking him just to go against his beliefs to go along with the mob? Or do we want him to be true to himself?
I think that if Joe wants to run as an independant then he has every right to do so. Yes I know that his decision might split the Democratic vote and give the seat to the Republicans. And yes I hate that too! But he is perfectly within his rights to run if he truly believes that he is correct in his support of the war.
You know sometimes it hurts to do the right thing, but the right thing is to leave Lieberman to his independant campaign and try to beat him on the issues. He is beatable you know.
Man I hope Ned Lamont wins!
LIEBERMANIA!
