A Tennessee man who tried to strangle his 2-year-old son in what he said was a sacrifice to God has been sentenced to probation requiring mental health treatment.
So God asks this man to sacrifice his son and when he tries to comly he is sent to the looney bin? Well that hardly seems fair. I mean hasn't God asked for the sacrifice of children before?
From Genesis 22:2
Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."
Now some angels saved this guys kid right before the fatal blow, so maybe this guy thought he might get the same "holy stay of execution". Either way it certainly sends a mixed message to these poor brain damaged people that it was totally cool to atempt to sacrifice your kid in the old days and now they lock your ass up for it.
I suppose stoning a fornicator is bad form now days as well. The twenty first century takes all of the fun out of being a fundamentalist loon doesn't it?
