Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut told the Politico on Thursday that he has no immediate plans to switch parties but suggested that Democratic opposition to funding the war in Iraq might change his mind.
Lieberman, a self-styled independent who caucuses with the Democrats, has been among the strongest supporters of the war and President Bush’s plan to send an additional 21,500 combat troops into Iraq to help quell the violence there.
"I have no desire to change parties," Lieberman said in a telephone interview. "If that ever happens, it is because I feel the majority of Democrats have gone in a direction that I don't feel comfortable with."
Is anybody really surprised by this? Lieberman is a Republican in everything but name anyway.
I just hope that the good people of Connecticut are happy with their candidate now. He is not on our side, he is on Bush's side. Therefore he is the enemy. No Democrat should have supported him.
I wish mindless zombies such as yourself would actually educate yourself on the topics you speak of. To blindly go with a certain politician because he or she is from a certain party is ludicrous.
ReplyDeleteThe reason that the citizens of this country aren't affiliated with any party, unless running for office is so that we can make informed decisions based on research.
