A new Associated Press-Ipsos poll says 55 percent of those surveyed consider honesty, integrity and other values of character the most important qualities they look for in a presidential candidate.
Just one-third look first to candidates' stances on issues; even fewer focus foremost on leadership traits, experience or intelligence.
I agree with this poll and feel the same way myself.
I also understand that finding a person who is honest, ethical, and filled with integrity, does not absolutely ensure that they will not be corrupted by the office or make careless policy mistakes.
I don't think that any person can be truly prepared for what the Presidency demands of them, with the possible exception of Hillary. Even the best and the brightest can find themselves making decisions about subjects that they may not clearly understand. There are some incredibly complicated issues that these politicians have to deal with.
I also do not give a shit about the morality issue. As you may discern from the name atop this website I believe that morality is mostly subjective. I do not care if a man has had more then one wife (as I sit here in my glass house), or may have used drugs in his youth, or said stupid things when he was of an age when saying stupid things was expected and embraced.
However I do not want somebody in office who is going to use his power to cheat on his wife, or make himself and his friends a bunch of money, or start a war based on some feeling that all good Presidents have been President while there was a war going on.
But other then that I am open to all comers. Just so long as they are not a Republican.
