President Bush yesterday rejected entreaties by his Republican allies that he compromise with Democrats on legislation to renew a popular program that provides health coverage to poor children, saying that expanding the program would enlarge the role of the federal government at the expense of private insurance.
You may how anybody could possibly deny our most vulnerable citizens, our hope for tomorrow, the health care they so desperately need. Well it is simple George Bush cares more about big business then he does your family.
"I support the initial intent of the program," Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post after a factory tour and a discussion on health care with small-business owners in Landover. "My concern is that when you expand eligibility . . . you're really beginning to open up an avenue for people to switch from private insurance to the government."
Every time I post one of these stories about how evil this bastard is, I cannot help but wonder how the people who voted for him are feeling about themselves today. Does it hurt to remember your vote? Does it hurt you as much as it hurts very sick children without access to the medical help they need?
(I need to give a tip of the hat to Americablog where I first stumbled on this story.)
"...you're really beginning to open up an avenue for people to switch from private insurance to the government."
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me. I'm all for eliminating all forms of insurance. It's all a massive ripoff.
That's what government is supposed to be about anyway--making life better for ALL citizens.
