This just keeps getting better and better.

Senior congressional aides said yesterday that the White House has proposed limiting the much-anticipated appearance on Capitol Hill next month of Gen. David H. Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker to a private congressional briefing, suggesting instead that the Bush administration's progress report on the Iraq war should be delivered to Congress by the secretaries of state and defense.

So we are told to sit back and be patient for the report coming from the integrity filled personage of General Petraeus only to be informed in the last weeks remaining before the big reveal that maybe this report should be given in secret.

If they doesn't make you doubt that the Petraeus report is going to say what the White House is desperately hoping it will say I don't know what would.

Now the White House is saying that is just a misunderstanding and that they are not trying to shield Petraeus from the public, but we all know that the truth has been MIA during this administration. I think they just realized how this was going to play in the media and blogs and are trying to do damage control.

Too late!
