The world we live in seems to be getting crazier every day, but is it possible for it to get this crazy?

The Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians’ military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.

Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for “pinprick strikes” against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “They’re about taking out the entire Iranian military,” he said.

I read these articles occasionally and think to myself, "There is just no way that they would do this", because I believe it would be an act of national suicide and that cooler minds would prevail.

This is not just a year or so after 9-11, when Americans were in a state of shock and simmering anger, demanding that somebody pay for this atrocity. In that climate it was possible to start a war in Iraq, with very little media resistance. Today we are a nation of skeptics, who believe almost nothing that is told to us by our government.

So how could they go forward with a plan like this? The only way they can move this plan forward is if we are silent and they can claim, like Pat Buchanan did recently, that Americans would support an invasion of Iran.

So here is me not being quiet. I do NOT support an invasion of Iran! I want America to stop vilifying them and trying to create a conflict where no conflict needs to be. We should be talking to this country and asking for their help and support in fixing the situation in Iraq, instead of threatening to turn them into a carbon copy of Iraq.

I don't care if they are developing nuclear capabilities, so has Pakistan, India, China, Russia, France, Britain, North Korea, and probably Israel, and we are not threatening to blow them all to shit. Why? Because in all cases, except possibly North Korea, we have established a dialogue and are comfortable that they pose no immediate threat to our country. If we wanted to, we could do the same in Iran.

And that is what this American wants. And if I may I think that I can speak for a large number of Americans who also do not want to start another war.

And in case my government is as deaf as it is stupid, let me repeat, NO MORE WAR!

I would suggest that other Americans write to their Senators and Congressmen, telling them the same thing. Or we may find ourselves in a war so large that it will signal the end of our country as we have come to know it.
