Despite President Bush’s claims that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons that could trigger “World War III,” experts in and out of government say there’s no conclusive evidence that Tehran has an active nuclear-weapons program.
I have no doubt that Iran would like nuclear weapons. especially since every country around them seems to be getting them.
But that does not mean they are anywhere near able to make them or that if they do it means anything earth shattering to the rest of the world.
Pakistan has them, we did not attack them.
India has them, we did not attack them.
Israel has them, we would never attack them.
China has them.
Russia has them.
Korea has them.
India has them.
Hell who does not have them? Iran, that's who!
How would you feel if you were surrounded by countries that could blow you out of the water any time they wanted to?
Instead of threatening them, which just keeps them frightened and feeling that they need to protect themselves from us, we could offer to bury the hatchet and strike some deal that offers them protection and allows us the peace of mind that they are not plotting our demise.
It is just a little thing that I call "diplomacy".
and now let's see if mr Bush remembers that Pakistan and Musharref has them...
