How does the Bush family feel about the truth? Well let Jeb Bush sum it up for you.

The truth is useless. You have to understand this right now. You can't deposit the truth in a bank. You can't buy groceries with the truth. You can't pay rent with the truth. The truth is a useless commodity that will hang around your neck like an albatross all the way to the homeless shelter. And if you think that the million or so people in this country that are really interested in the truth about their government can support people who would tell them the truth, you got another thing coming. Because the million or so people in this country that are truly interested in the truth don't have any money.

Any questions?

  1. Question: did he REALLY say that? Was there any context (hard to imagine any mitgating context), or is this just speaking off the top of his poundcake peabrain head? wow, I'm just flabbergasted. I see Barbara's influence is wide felt throughout the clan.

I did look at the link, but still couldn't tell because everything else quoted sounds just like him. This, however, sounds like a crazy man. Or perhaps like the little brother of the man who told his Harvard Professors that social programs don't work & poor people need to fend for themselves. Crazy ass crazy, the lot of 'em.

Reminds me of an SNL skit where Val Kilmer played Jeb. At one point, someone says to him, "you're the good son". And he says, "only by comparison".

  2. It is from the book "Bushwhacked:Life in George Bush's America" by Molly Ivins.

It took me a while to track it down.
