I wish I had enough money for a billboard.

It looked harmless enough, but the words on a billboard un-nerved so many people that a popular restaurant nearby actually lost business: "All Religions are Fairy Tales."

The billboard was on Colonial Drive near the Old Cheney Highway. Although the popular Straub's Seafood restaurant often advertises on it, this wasn't their billboard. The sign was taken down after Channel 9 started asking questions.

You know what is kind of ironic about this?

If you said the same phrase. "All religions are fairy tales", and then added, "except yours", nobody would take any offense.

Every person of faith believes they are absolutely correct, but that everybody of a differing belief has a screw loose.

Remember, an atheist only believes in one less god then you do.

  1. What's wrong with fairy tales? They are usually fun, full of princesses and magic. They are harmless little fantastical tales that impart a bit of wisdom if you can suspend belief in reality during a few moments of entertainment. No one has ever killed anyone for not believing Sleeping Beauty was beautiful.

Religion, on the other hand, makes you feel bad about yourself & everything else, requires you to suspend belief in science for your whole life, foments arguments over gnat hairs, inspires corruption & war, and has caused more ongoing misery than any natural disaster.

OMG, "Old Cheney Highway"???? I think we are talking divine providence. If I was a believer, I might think Cheney is the prototype for Satan!

  2. Now that you mention it, I also like fairy tales. And you are right, fairy tales are much too good to be compared to religion.

    That is simply insulting.
