Mary Tillman believes she has evidence that the Army went to extraordinary lengths to keep what really happened under wraps. She points to the fact that Pat’s uniform, which according to one soldier had the marks left by American bullets, was burned, which is against Army procedure.
Then there was the coroner, who'd refused to sign the autopsy for months because when he examined the body, he said the gunshot wounds were not consistent with the Army's original story. And remember the citation on the Silver Star which left the distinct impression Pat was killed by enemy fire? It was later revealed that the eyewitness statements had been altered. Army Ranger Bryan O'Neal testified before Congress last spring.
"Did you write these sentences, claiming that you were engaged with the enemy?" he was asked.
"No sir," O'Neal replied.
"Their testimony was altered by someone to make it appear as though Pat was killed by the enemy," Mary Tillman claims.
But she says she hasn't figured out who changed the statements or how.
Couric asked Pete Geren, the new secretary of the Army, how this could have happened.
"Who do you think, Secretary Geren, altered those soldiers' statements when it came to that Silver Star?" Couric asks. "
Well, that's one of the questions that we will never completely answer," Sec. Geren says.
We will never completely answer? How can it be possible that we "can never completely answer" this question?
The military is all about the chain of command. Everybody is answerable to their superiors. There is absolutely no way that this thing happened without somebody knowing who did it and who told them to do it.
This just another of the Bush lies and coverups that I am hoping will be investigated fully when we get Barack Obama into the White House.
this poor mom....my heart bleeds for her...when Pat's funeral was on TV in California- and MCCAIN gave a speech- remember...his brother showed up ( a bit tipsy) and gave a eulogy about Pat's death...it was profound...prophetic...( he toasted his brother with a beer- vowing to find out what happened...)_
ReplyDeleteHE KNEW that something was wrong...
( hey we should try to find that McCain tape on Youtube- of McCain making his fucking Hero speech...)
thanks for posting this...

ReplyDeleteoffensive. While being attached to a Listening Post, going out every night 400 to 600 meters out side the perimeter of our base at the south check point in Phu Bai....
One night there was movement beyond out position. we called in the movement. Shortly sgyrt, all 15 bunkers manned by other soldiers open fired for approximately 30-45 minutes. THAT IS A VERY LONG TIME. Yes FRIENDLY FIRE. The Sgt in charge could not get the soldiers to stop firing their weapons. there were approx 45 soldiers in the bunkers, not to mention the soldiers that launched many flares to light up the area. The Sgt told us on the radio "I can't stop the fire, you are on your own. Obviously, we survived without being wounded physically but the out come could have been different.
I do not agree with what happens when people gets the adrenaline flowing, the fact they are in a "HIGH" and what the results can be. I know how it is to be on the receiving end. Your friends, buddies, fellow soldiers are shooting at you. You begin to say a little prayer for a long time. It is not fun.
The Dept of Defense should look into this matter and hold who ever is responsible to come forward and accept that responsibility. As far as the Chain of Command then you start low and go all the way up to and including the President of the United States. an accident is one thing but MURDER is intolerable.
I think we should ask ourselves Who's side are THEY on.
Now, lets make them get to the bottom of this catastrophe, and hold those involved responsible. Look at Lt Cally he paid for his mistakes.....many others had two. Is it right that the higher ups get away with being an accessory to murder......
