Campaigning under the cloud of federal investigations is tough enough, but could Sen. Ted Stevens or Rep. Don Young have the added worries of an indictment before they face the voters? Would prosecutors wait until after the election to bring charges to avoid the appearance of meddling in Alaska politics?
Why put justice off? I mean don't we want this thing resolved before we possibly elect a criminal to represent our state?
It is time for Alaska to put this type of corrupt political garbage behind us.
I acknowledge that Ted Stevens has done some great things for our state, but he has lost his ethical compass and now it is time for him to step aside, or be handcuffed and dragged away, to make way for a different kind of politics in this great land.
There are new polls that suggest that Stevens days are numbered whether he is indicted or not. It does not look particularly good for the other Republicans either.
Isn't that a shame.
