In his remarks, Obama complimented Hillary Rodham Clinton and even mentioned her husband, Bill, who's been deeply critical of him.
Singling her out for praise for her stance on universal health care and poverty and calling her campaign "barrier-breaking," he said, "Our party and our country are better off because of her, and I am a better candidate for having had the honor to compete with Hillary Rodham Clinton."
He tried to call her twice following the speech - but got her voicemail.
The man who is going to be the next President of this country, calls you.
The man who is now the leader of the Democratic party, calls you.
The man who has just suffered a thousand tiny wounds inflicted by your campaign, calls you.
And you ignore him like he is some telephone solicitor and force him to leave a message on your machine.
That speaks volumes about Barack Obama. And it speaks volumes about Hillary Clinton.
And he has done this reaching out toward Hillary in almost every speech. On CNN last night, Gloria Borgia (or however the hell her name is spelled) said "Clinton NEEDED this night", like she wanted to own this night (of all nights). David Gergen and Jeffrey Toobin's heads almost exploded. I predict, as a result of her act last night, she will be further marginalized, thus enabling Bill to claim she is not being treated fairly. But she did it to herself!
