Outside of Wasilla Alaskan support for Sarah Palin is minimal.

Hundreds of people protesting the policies of Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lined a busy street on Saturday, waving signs and chanting "Obama!"

The protest came about two hours after Palin delivered a rousing speech at Anchorage's new convention center before leaving the state to return to the campaign trail. Palin was named John McCain's running mate on Aug. 29. This was her first return since then to her home state.

The protesters, including supporters of presidential candidate Barack Obama and those who don't agree with Palin's positions on abortion, polar bears, Iraq and other issues, lined one side of the street near Anchorage's main library building.

A much smaller number of mostly pro-Palin supporters were on the other side of the street, chanting "Sarah! Sarah!"

Angie Doroff, 46, helped organize the rally. The wildlife biologist, yoga teacher and artist said she was pleased and surprised at how many people showed up.

"We're not alone. A lot of people are worried about the nomination of Sarah Palin," Doroff said, as cars drove by honking their horns in support.

This puts a hole is another lie that the McCain campaign has put forward. That one about Palin having 80% approval rating up here in Alaska. I had already heard the numbers were much less, but now I am wondering if those numbers aren't actually inverted. Maybe she only has 20% approval up here.

I got invited to a meeting of liberal bloggers in Wasilla, ground zero for supporters of Governor Sarah. I plan to wear a crucifix.

It should prove interesting as there will be some national media types at the meeting as well as a whole potpourri of Alaska liberal bloggers.

Hey Gryphen, there is an extensive front page article in the Washington Post today (Sunday), entitled "As Mayor of Wasilla, Palin Cut Own Duties, Left Trail of Bad Blood". It is pretty telling, and also there have been numerous reports on the news and in the papers here that she did not actually cross into the border of Iraq, and did not have permission to do so. The lies continue, and at least they are being exposed swiftly. I found another website palininvestigation.com also by an Alaskan which also provides some interesting insight. Very entertaining as well! Keep up the good work...I check back daily for updates!

  2. The Mainstreet Media would do well to drive around Anchorage and count the number of McCain bumper stickers they see on cars. There aren't any.
