So I went to the Region 2 Elections Office in midtown right after work today and voted!
There were quite a number of people there and the sweetest old ladies you ever saw were running the place.
I simply showed them my voter registration card and my ID, got my ballot, and cast my vote for a nice young man named Barack Obama.
Then I put my ballot in the "sleeve of privacy" walked it over to a silver box and slipped it through the slot on the top. And just like that I became part of history.
And I spent the rest of the day with the biggest damn smile on my face that you could imagine.
My advice to everybody who reads this is get out there and vote now. Do not wait until November because that is when the Republicans are going to really ramp up their efforts to suppress our votes. Maybe if enough of us vote early and it becomes clear that Obama will win in a landslide the GOP will lose confidence and just accept their fate.
Yeah I don't believe that either. But I still want you to vote early. And do you know who doesn't want you to vote early? John McCain, that's who.
Now who do you want to listen to? Me or John McCain and that empty headed little moron from Wasilla?
P.S. I also talked to my daughter about her voter registration problems in Georgia and she is going to contact the Obama offices and ask them for some help in straightening it out.
Hopefully I will have an update for you soon telling you that she voted early as well.
Good for you! I went to vote today, in Fort Pierce,Florida, but the line was too long. I'll go back tomorrow at an earlier time. Go Obama!!!!

Yahoooo Good for you !!!!
ReplyDeleteHistory...yup....
Go Obama....
( the repugs must be so disturbed by seeing all the LONG LONG lines...on the news....cuz they ain't for Johnny..)
My mom, aunt, and I voted several weeks ago by absentee ballot. Anyone in South Carolina who is over the age of (I think) 65 can vote this way. I was eligible because I live in North Augusta but work in Columbia: a 70 minute drive.
ReplyDeleteWe all voted for Obama, not that it will count in this third world state. But I had the satisfaction, as well as getting to vote against Lindsey Graham.
Congrats! I so wish we could vote early here in New Jersey.
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for Obama-Biden!
Hope all works our for your daugher getting her vote in.
Thanks for voting early! I second your call to early vote, but for a slightly different reason - Barack will need a friendlier Congress. Let's vote early for that Congress and they won't lose as many votes if Obama does as well as we hope he will. We shouldn't lose out on new Congress people just because Obama sewed it up with Colorado.
