Was Alaska's election stolen?

The title links to a post by my fellow Alaskan blogger and friend Shannyn Moore.

What she has to say will send a chill through the hearts of Alaskans all through this great state.

With all of the early voting, with excitement and participation at an all time high, we are supposed to believe that FEWER people voted in this election then voted in 2004!

You don't believe it?

Let's look at the math.

In 2004 there were 313,592 votes cast.

In this 2008 election we currently have counted 222,095 votes cast.

Now there are supposedly about 60,000 absentee ballots still to be counted, but that only moves the number to 282,095. And that still makes absolutely no sense!

We have spent months being the butt of jokes by late night comics as they watch the antics of our trailer trash Governor and her brood of misfits. I know for a fact that thousands of Alaskans were hoping to gain vindication by showing the world that they were ready for REAL change in this country and in our state. But instead we are led to believe that FEWER Alaskans showed up to vote then predicted and that the polls predicting a substantial victory for both Ethan Berkowitz and Mark Begich were wrong?

I call bullshit!

And if the Alaskan Republicans think that they can steal THIS election from Alaskans then they are sadly mistaken.

Update: Perhaps somebody can explain to me why the current number of votes cast for President number 222,095, while the current vote for the Senate race is only 220,373? Where are those missing 1,722 votes?

My advice to the Alaskan GOP is, if you are going to steal an election perhaps you should bone up on your math skills. Sloppiness will be your downfall.

    Bullshit! Bullshit!! Bullshit!!!

The local media where I live is astounded at the turnout for early voting and election day voting for our county. I'm not believing for a minute that the numbers are down in Alaska when one of the freakin' candidates is from Alaska!!

  2. no one for a minute believes this- contact the ACLU up there and get working on this- you need to ask for an Investigation....
hey- aren't they going to have to do a RECOUNT for the Senate seat ???maybe that will reveal some of the problems....

  3. this is insanity. and this is the WRONG year to try and f__k with the electorate! could those missing ballots have anything to do with those having to leave their communities in the last two months due to energy/heating oil costs? is there any buzz about their votes being discarded?

  4. Contact the obama campaign - their staff should be around, get in touch with their lawyers, or with the Democratic Committee - it's in every one's best interest to get the election count checked into and clean up voting in Alaska

    Also
    Check out President Obama's site!!!

  5. yeah Lady Rose is right- the Obama Campaign....they should still have Lawyers available to help navigate this...

( Georgia and Minnesota are having some interesting problems too...)

I worry that ALL of your Early Votes and Absentee were not counted properly....

( on another issue- if Convicted Felons can NOT Vote or Run for Office- HOW can ANY votes be counted for Teddy ???? or does it only count when he is sentenced ? if so I hope he is not sentenced until January 21st...so he can not get pardoned)

Is there any place you (meaning Alaskans "from the real America") need emails sent? Any watch dog groups? Begich Campaign? I wish I could help, but am glad you are keeping your eye on things.
