Sarah Palin's wardrobe stuffed in garbage bags and stored at RNC.

Despite the Republican National Committee's promise to donate Sarah Palin's $180,000 campaign wardrobe to charity, word has it the Alaska governor's clothes remain stuffed in trash bags at RNC headquarters, NewMajority has learned.

While Palin followed through on her promise to return her controversial wardrobe after the election, it seems the RNC has not followed through on its promise to give most of the clothes away.

Palin asserted at the time that the clothes belonged to the RNC. They were not her property and would be returned at the end of the campaign. A campaign spokeswoman backed up those claims, saying, "It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign." It was also understood that those that had not been worn would be returned to the appropriate retailer; those that had been worn would be used for some other purpose, perhaps auctioned off for charity or to retire campaign debt.

But for reasons that remain mysterious, the clothes remain stashed at the RNC's Washington, D.C., headquarters. A source close to the issue told NewMajority that the clothes are "in the process" of being donated, and an RNC spokesman corroborated, saying the clothes have indeed been returned from Palin, "inventoried and will be appropriately dispersed to various charities." Attempts for an explanation of when and where the clothes will be donated went unanswered, and the governor's Alaska office does not comment on campaign issues.

Okay I have a couple of ideas as to why these clothes have not yet been donated to charities.

  • The RNC is saving them for after the 2010 elections, when the rest of the Republican politicians lose their governments jobs and are forced to wear "Palin family hand me downs".
  • John McCain is hanging onto them and collecting DNA samples so that he can finally find the answer to the question that has been plaguing him since August 2008. Just who the hell is Trig Palin's mother?
  • The clothes are so tacky even the homeless refuse to wear them.
  • Even after repeated trips to the laundry they just cannot seem to wash out that Wasilla Hillbilly smell.

I don't know if Sarah Palin misses all of those expensive clothes that much, but I am certain she misses her expensive hair and makeup people. I mean did you see that rats nest on her head during the SOS speech!

There is NO excuse for that. I know we have gay hairdressers here in Alaska.

Dude...you are so right..I was thinking the exact same thing about SP's hair when I was watching that video you posted of her speech. I mean what was up with that 'do? I think she was trying to replicate her campaign trail look on her own, but failed miserably.

She seriously needs some fashion advice...no wonder McCain sent her ass to Neiman Marcus. Did you see the video of Sarah at the Alaska 50th gala. She was wearing these hideous blue paisley sparkly pants (at least I think they were pants) with a tight black sweater that had a dead animal collar adorned with beads. The pants looked like pajamas or maybe even those Lilly Pulitzer pants, but on steroids. AKM had it posted on Mudflats.

I'm still with you on the Trig thing, as well as the Tripp, the magical invisible baby.

Every day I wake up and thank God that Americans did not elect McCain and Palin. I never voted for Bush, and now finally feel like I have a real President. The rest of America owes you Alaskan bloggers a big thank you for helping expose Palin for the idiot she is.

  2. The real pity about the clothes sitting in trashbags at RNC headquarters is that Sarah isn't still IN 'em.

If she returned her wardrobe to RNC, why is someone in Anchorage trying to sell her red shoes on Ebay? Current bid is over $1000.

  5. PackyJ got it right! She should be IN them still.

And that awful hair. I never liked what they did with it for the campaign events either, so what do I know?

    Loved Joseph the Hairdresser, LOL

Notalib...you are seriously a total downer, dude. Loosen up, it is funny...you really do not get Gryphen's humor at all. You have a total stick up your butt. A little humor at the expense of Sarah Palin and the RNC goes a long way in these tough economic times. Get a life.

Sorry your party is in exile, and your former VP candidate is a national joke, but payback is a bitch after 8 years of Bush.

Hey, Sarah might get the last laugh on all of us with $11 million in the bank. And you know what? I do not begrudge her any of that, good for her...she needs to get whatever deal she can now, because her political career is in the toilet. I would rather see her retire with book money millions then ever hold elected office again.

Anyway, Notalib, I totally picture you as like a middle age white guy who drives a pick up and has no sense of humour...kind of like Bill O'Reilly without the cash. Am I right? Maybe some Xanex would not be a bad idea to get you through the next 4-8 years. I am so not feeling your vibe on this blog.

  7. "Oh you CRAZY LIBS! Can't keep your focus on what REALLY matters to Americans!"

Nice try, Notalib, but I think the general disgust is $150,000 is close to four times as much as the average American makes in a year and that is what the GOP thought was appropriate to spend on outfitting their VP choice. You know, the "average hockey mom, fiscal conservative". Sort of makes most of us in the everyday working class - conservative and liberal alike - want to scream.

But good try. You are a FANTASTIC understudy to Gov. Palin. Maybe you might consider applying for a PR position with her. Might be a good union - you can defend her agaisnt this stuff and she can go BACK to taking care of ALASKANS!

    Just a suggestion.....

  8. Let's see....the "important" stuff we should be worrying about...
    Obama is a muslim.
    Obama's birth certificate is fake.
Obama wasn't sworn in properly so he isn't our president.
    Michelle is a bitch.
Obama wants to spend money on infrastructure when there are still CEOs who need their bathrooms redone.
Sarah Palin is being picked on by snobby elites.
The Iron Man race is VERY important and is good for your health.
    Emmonak is a scam.
Sarah Palin is young, beautiful, and scrappy, which makes her a great governor.
    Shall I continue?

  9. Notalib,
I'm simply amused by the whole clothes thing.
It underscores the understanding and concern the GOP really has for working-class Americans.
I listened to Sarah's State of the State the other night, and since I am an Alaskan, I wasn't really amused so much.
Please choose her for the GOP standard-bearer in 2012.
    And again in 2016.
    Please.

Hi everyone so good to hear from all of my new liberal friends. I have to agree that the amount spent on the clothes was excessive, but come on how many of you women out there if given the chance to buy, buy buy would pass on it.....oh never mind I know none of you would.

FW: Yes I am a middle age white boy. Don't drive a pickup truck have a car with 111,000 miles on and in 4 more payments I will own it and actually I have a very good sense of humor.

Jen: yes I agree that is more than what the average person makes and in these tough times it is excessive, but oddly there was just a $150,000,000 inauguration and I don't see people saying anything.

Klee: I have never made an issue out of any of the points your bring up. I know he is a good christian, don't care if he does or does not have a birth certificate, his word is good enough for me, I like Michelle, seems to be a good mom, respects her marriage and is intelligent.

Packyj: How does spending $150,000,000 for a party show concern for the working class?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Notalib, you know (and so does every other snarky conservative) that 2/3rds of that inaugural expense was for the massively increased security -- because right-wing-nuts keep threatening "Death to Obama" (thanks in part to Sarah Palin).

Obama's inaugural expenses (excepting security) were nearly the same as Bush's second inaugural, ~$45M to ~$42.3M....you neocons like to compare apples and oranges, but the rest of us are wise to you...

To discuss further one of Gyphen's bullet points about Palin's clothes....
*The clothes are so tacky even the homeless refuse to wear them.
....What are the chances that they are the Palins' OLD CLOTHES in those black garbage bags, and the Palins have hung up the new RNC duds in their own closet?

Could that be why Sarah Palin was seen and heard in Nordstroms' dept. store in December asking that her "new clothes be altered"?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Here's a suggestion for the RNC, Notalib:

As collector's items, the clothes are worth far more to right-wing Palinistas than they were when first purchased.

So, put the Palin wardrobe up for auction on Ebay, with all the proceeds going to, say, food banks across the nation. Symbolic, I know, but at least a gesture in the right direction.

Perhaps even better: Palin should suggest it to the RNC and ask the proceeds be sent to Emmonak.

Then at least some of her constituents will receive benefit from Republican douchebaggery.

I like the idea of the Ebay sale but the money should really be used for something that will make a more lasting impact than a food bank, I think the money should go to summer camp for Young Republicans....maybe the Hawaii chapter.

KaJo...I'm going to disagree with you about the clothes...I know you've seen what she's been wearing lately, and they are a far cry from the ones she sported on the campaign trail. Even my husband commented on her appearance and how it has gone downhill.

With that said, Notalib, I do confess I am somewhat of a clothes horse, but that amount of money for clothes is absurd. I shop the deals at outlets, Loehmann's, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and even online where you can get the same designer labels for like 80% off retail. Most savvy moms who are into clothes do the same....Sarah just lost her street cred by all that nonsense coming out. She also lost her pitbull with lipstick image by portraying herself as the whiny victim of the "liberal elite media".

So, I am going to declare that we probably have more in common than you think, like I had said before I consider myself to be socially very "liberal", but have alot of other political views that may be pretty close to yours. In fact, my brother is a staunch Republican, and we are very close, even though we get into heated political debates.

  16. notalib, you miss my point by taking my list as a literal litany of YOUR issues. I was merely comparing the typical list of "important" issues the right wingies are always buzzing about. I have no idea what your particular set of dingbat issues are, other than the fact that you take issue with our amusement at the gift that keeps on giving (SP). As long as dear sarah keeps making a fool out of herself we will keep poking fun at her. Until the good folks of Alaska (including a bunch of my relatives) vote her sorry butt out of office in 2010.
