Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Joe Masters and troopers director Col. Audie Holloway vigorously dispute that there was anything irregular in how this case was handled.
"We worked very hard to make sure we conducted it just as fairly and as normally as any other investigation," Holloway said.
That's not what Kyle Young, a troopers drug investigator who was involved in the case, wrote in an e-mail last week to all members of the Public Safety Employees Association, the union that represents troopers and other law enforcement officers around the state.
Young wrote that after it became clear who Johnston is, "this case became anything but normal."
"It was not allowed to progress in a normal fashion, the search warrant service WAS delayed because of the pending election and the Mat Su Drug Unit and the case officer were not the ones calling the shots," Young wrote.
Sherry Johnston was arrested Dec. 18 on charges of selling the prescription painkiller OxyContin, the same day the warrant was served.
Young, speaking through union officials, declined to comment for this story. But John Cyr, executive director of the union, said it's clear to him that the investigation was handled differently because of who Johnston is.
"This really does smack of political favoritism. And if that be the case, it's another example of the Palin administration's direct influence on the public safety unit," Cyr said.
Cyr said the union is confident Young's version of what happened is true. That's because the union verified it in discussions "with the entire drug unit, with all of our members," he said.
"There is no reason for the Mat Su drug unit to lie or to falsify the record in this regard. And there is reason, political reason, for the commissioner and other members of the command staff, if you will, to distort what actually happened," he said.
Have you noticed that EVERY SINGLE story that comes out about the Palin's quickly devolves into a they said/she said scenario?
Whether it be reporting that Bristol and Levi are high school drop outs, or that Sarah bought thousands of dollars worth of clothes with the RNC credit card, or that Sarah Palin incited racial intolerance on the campaign trial, it always seems to end with the reporters version of events and the Palin-bots version of events.
So this time Public Safety Commissioner Joe Masters, and Palin appointee to replace independent thinking Walt Monegan, says one thing and the State Troopers who CONDUCTED THE INVESTIGATION say another.
Who are we to believe?
However the question in this case is how many individuals were able to purchase drugs illegally from Sherry Johnston while this investigation was in limbo waiting for the election to be over and the Palin interference to an end?
Were there twenty Wasilla teenagers who got high on Johnston Oxycontin during this time? Fifty? A hundred?
How many Valley residents, who had never tried anything harder then pot, found themselves becoming addicted to Oxycontin in the months that the Palin administration kept the Troopers from taking this drug dealer off of the streets? How many lives may have been damaged or destroyed in that amount of time?
This administration is only concerned with the political aspirations of Sarah Palin herself.
Quite literally every single decision that comes out of the Palin administration is a facade. It looks good but it is always deeply flawed. And in the meantime the REAL work of the government, to keep our citizens safe and secure, is treated like an inconvenience.
And it is starting to have an effect on Palin's popularity. According to the Alaska Standard Palin is now trailing Senator Lisa Murkowski in the poll numbers.
It looks like Alaskans are nearly not as ignorant as Sarah Palin was hoping they were.
In a strange way, this is the tragic culmination of the decision of the McCain campaign to out Bristol's pregnancy in order to "prove" Sarah is Trig's bio mom.
ReplyDeleteIf Sarah would have just provided irrefutable documented proof that she was pregnant and gave birth to Trig, instead of throwing Bristol under the bus, no one would have heard about Levi Johnston until after the election. Sherry Johnston could have been busted a long time ago. Sherry thought she was under surveillance by the Secret Service, turns out it was really Alaska state troopers the whole time...what a dumbass.
Sarah should have kept her kids home in Wasilla away from the intense media scrutiny.
Heads up to anyone else involved with any Palin scandals in the present, past, or future....this family is trouble with a capital T, and you should tell what you know now before it's too late.

Good job Gryphen... keep bringing this stuff to light. It just amazes me that they put off arresting this woman because of Palin. What reason could they have for that. It should have had NO bearing on the case whatsoever. It's not like she was part of the administration or anything. It really might have helped her more if it had happened during the campaign than now. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteJohn McCain really showed "Country First" when he picked Sarah. Sarah put the "Count" in Country.

Hey Ericmiami, I think you made a spelling error. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to offend anyone. Except Palin supporters, of course.

Good job Gryphen, you took the words right out of my mouth, I've been wondering the exact thing...How many people/pills.
If this was a ongoing investigation there should be documentation...doncha think?
AST gets tip/informant,
ReplyDeleteStarts a investigation which confirms that SJ is dealing,
Next step up the AST chain of command for decision on how to proceed with investigation,
Higher ups in AST approach DA for search warrant and arrest warrant,
DA passes information on to AG,
AG passes information on to Mc Cain people running Alaska Governor’s office,
The rest is obvious.

Well this is another thing that needs to be passed along to CREW! I have submitted a lot to them and they are watching Barbie, but McCains goons come to Alaska and try to get rid of Troopergate and as Gryphen says "how many people"? got sold drugs etc. from Sherry while, McCain's goons basically running Alaska? Then she...Barbie throws him under the "straight talk express" You know he can go down for all this, hired guns/lawyers protecting her (and everyone)Yes this needs to be reported to CREW if they don't already know!!!
Bristol is a Ho. In 5 years she'll be living in a trailer with four babies and no man. She start charging, and Levi will be at the bar boasting how he tapped that before you had to pay!
