When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party's 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.
Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason. According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.
So where is Palin this weekend? She's in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.
"She lied to us," said a Republican at the retreat.
WTF? What possible reason does Palin give for biting the hand that she needs to help get her elected to a national office?
"My understanding is that the governor has not scheduled any partisan events on her current trip to D.C.," McAllister told ABC News.
No let me tell YOU why Sarah blew this off. Not enough media coverage. Our Governor cannot waste her time going to events only covered by a handful of media, she has to go where the lights are bright and the reporters are knocking each other down for a picture of her.
I love this response by John Boehner: "Whatever" .
I look forward to the day when all of us in Alaska cna be that dismissive of Sarah Palin's actions.
Welcome to the real world of Sarah Palin....lol Now they finally start to get it..lol
ReplyDeleteFAN-tas-TIC! oh how i wish sarah would sink her own ship, burn her bridges, and forget how to swim towards her ambitions!
ReplyDeletebut if she doesn't, people like you will keep all of us up to date on the reasons she's unfit to lead alaska again, let alone the nation.
thanks for your blog. enjoy the football :)
OMG! Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! Her stupidity really marvels me sometimes. Guess who was there while she wasn't: Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich. Basically her competition for the GOP 2012 Prez nomination. Well, gee, I wonder who the House Republicans will support behind during the 2012 primaries? People who don't lie to them and give them some attention. Frakkin' duh!
ReplyDeleteWhat worries me is that the republicans even asked her ! Do they really think she had anything to offer?
ReplyDeletePer Alfalfa: Where is Todd? If Palin could bring Staplemouth, then why didn't Todd go?
I want her impeached because there should be consequences for her actions, but at least her lack of interest in Alaska points to her not running in Alaska again.
P.S. It is typical of narcissist to not see past their nose i.e. choosing Alfalfa with more spotlight over Republicans with less and figuring they will always be there for later spotlights.
Narcissist always believe their lies will be believed as well despite publicity to the contrary.
Yep! Read she lied!
ReplyDeleteBig deal so some stuffy malcontents in DC are pissed off because they have found out how insignificant they really are to the conservative movement.

Gryphen, I read over at Progressive Alaska that ADN didn't cover Begich's press conference. And Sarah's supposedly bucking for more stimulus dollars for Alaska after turning in a lack luster budget, right? Then I read that piece you linked to on MSNBC. The comment about her needing to make a move to prove she's energized about tending to the issues concerning AK - the letter re: the Army, specifically. And I start to think she's bypassing her congretional delegation this weekend on purpose. She's going to steer clear of them - allowing them to do all the heavy lifting (her modus aprendi) - and then tell AK and the country that she's been the mover and shaker for the state, not Begich, not Murkowski.
ReplyDeleteListen, I may have just arrived on the short bus down here. Y'all likely have this puppy pegged and pegged good. But I gotta tell ya, my spidey senses are picking up some diabolical behavior here. And I don't like it. I don't like it one bit.
GOD! She's so infuriating! Especially when it is pretty damn clear she'll allow the weakest in her state (Emmonak) to twist in the frigid wind while she and Meg Stapleton play the whitey version of Oprah & Gayle all over DC.
And freaking SHAME ON ADN FOR NOT REPORTING ON BEGICH'S PRESS CONFERENCE! Did I meant to mention that earlier?
Clearly, I did NOT drink enough during half time.....
Yep----biting that hands she should be kissing for 2012!
ReplyDeleteNot really suprised though, the lights were brighter, you betcha!
my verification word: divabru
Too funny!
Hey Jen,
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you say, but I need to mention: It's not really shame on ADN. It's shame on McClatchy Newspapers and for all the Americans who have sat back and allowed big corporations to take over our news outlets. The poor ADN is down to a skelaton crew. They can barely get weather updates out now. And as a journalist in AK, I have to say, shame on Begich too - or his staff, rather. They kind of dropped the ball on his press conference. Usually they're pretty good about keeping us up to date, but this time they hit us last minute. Pretty lame.
