Gov. Sarah Palin has ended the stalemate over the open state Senate seat by giving Senate Democrats the appointee that they wanted, former Juneau mayor Dennis Egan.
The nine Senate Democrats "unanimously and enthusiastically" voted to confirm Egan to the seat, said Anchorage Democratic Sen. Johnny Ellis, the Senate majority leader.
He could be sworn in tonight.
This is the guy that Juneau Mayor Bruce Botelho suggested five days ago.
Then he was unacceptable apparently but things seem to have changed.
I would still like somebody to dust Palin's ass for this guys lip prints before he gets confirmed.
I am suffering from an extreme lack of trust when it comes to all things Palin these days.
I am just finishing "What's the Matter with Kansas?" by Thomas Frank. Written in 2004, four years before I had heard Palin's name, the author gives the background to the culture that made Palin. All her comments, blaming, victimization, talking points and world view are there.
ReplyDeleteFascinating study of the making/manipulation of "the base."
Congrats on the new senator. Can't wait for the spin, though, from the governor's office.
Thanks for giving us a senator now that the session is over.
ReplyDeleteShe drinks .. right? Short term memory loss?
ReplyDeleteWell, the session is over and lacking a senator didn't help get WAR confirmed. I'm thinking that after the ongoing senate debacle and then the WAR rejection she was cutting her losses.
ReplyDeleteBetter Dennis Egan than Beth Kerttula.
There ya go, also. You betcha.
nope... she's just a trip, no excuse for her [in] action
ReplyDeleteIf she didn't make an appointment, there would have been a special election - so she threw the BethBlocker.
