Under attack from conservatives since taking office on Jan. 30, Michael S. Steele on Wednesday blasted a group of members pushing for new checks and balances on the chairman's spending powers, accusing them of a power grab "scheme."
"I have just returned from an overseas trip to learn that the five of you have developed a scheme to transfer the RNC chairman's authority to the treasurer and the executive committee," Mr. Steele wrote in an e-mail he sent to Randy Pullen, the RNC's elected treasurer, and Blake Hall, the committee's general counsel, as well as to three former RNC officers.
Mr. Pullen and four other veteran members have proposed a resolution that imposes new controls on Mr. Steele's power to award contracts and spend money on outside legal and other services. The group needs signatures from RNC members from 16 states to force the resolution to the floor for a vote by the full party committee at the May 20 special meeting.
"It is of course not lost on me that each of you worked tirelessly down to the last minute in an effort to stop me from becoming chairman," Mr. Steele wrote.
Okay so here I was getting all ready to be incensed at the treatment Mr. Steele is receiving at the hands of the GOP.
"The just put him in the position of chairman to head off charges of racism within the Republican party" I was gong to say.
"The GOP is so deeply racist at its core that they simply cannot allow a black man to truly control any part of their party" I was going to add.
"Just like in the miniseries ROOTS, they have taken Kunta Kinte and tried to make into their own personal Toby" was going to be my final shot.
But then I saw this video:
Okay kids make note of this day because today Gryphen, of the Immoral Minority, thinks the GOP may be right. That's right you heard me.
I have seen some other footage of Michael Steele as well, and damn there is something really screwed up about this guy. He says some of the dumbest things on camera I have ever heard. It makes me wonder how many absolutely ridiculous things he might say when the cameras are NOT rolling.
So I am telling the Republicans that if they dump this guy they are getting a free pass from me. Because I simply could not blame them.
He and Palin and maybe Jindall should run for office together.. the three of them might make a person, then could maybe run an office.. That's about the brain power I see from the 3 of them. You might even need to gather in another one or or two...like Coultergeist or something.. to really get a good brain going.. and then I am not sure.
ReplyDeleteSteele isn't any crazier than the other GOP "leaders"-- he just lacks the all-important crazy-filter that helps the others turn their wackadoodlery into benign phrases like "traditional values" and "fiscal responsibility" when they are in public.
ReplyDeleteGINO is similarly deficient in the filter department.
Pretty sad that, when searching for tokens, those two were the best they could come up with.
No, Gryphen. Your first impressions are correct, Steele would be of no importance if the GOP would not have chosen him as a front man, He is still trying to fit in, it is the fate of "the house negro."
ReplyDeleteperhaps they were afraid he would buy to much "bling"
ReplyDeleteI believe Steele was the GOP's answer to Obama and GINO was originally was chosen to attract the Hillary voters... because hey! "black" and "woman"!
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is the price Steele will pay for not wearing his hat the way Rush told him to wear it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous @ 7:26 AM. Steele is definitely trying to fit in. He is a 'house negro' and unfortunately he's proud of it. This is why I can't feel sorry for him. Steele deserves whatever the GOP throws at him. They will strip him of all powers. He will never be empowered to run the GOP like previous white male leaders but he will be held accountable and will be responsible for all that goes wrong.
ReplyDeleteGryphen, your first impressions are correct. As a black female I have seen this kind of behavior too often. It's been going on in Corporate America for years.
It didn't strike me as particularly stupid, just a poor metaphor. He was trying to make an analogy, but the symbol he chose--hats--was a poor example.
ReplyDeleteMichael Steel may have something there... we know it's all about the hats.
ReplyDeleteSorry off thread. You don't need to publish this but get yourself over to see4pee where they are publicly attacking you!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.conservatives4palin.com/2009/05/money-grubbing-smear-merchants-rex_01.html
Actually having thought about it please do not post my public warning to you in my last comment!!! Please do not publish this one either.
ReplyDeleteThey are talking about you gryph @ seefourpee
ReplyDeleteAnyway, lets get back to the teaser headline on the "Alaska Report." It took about three minutes to discover where this headline originated -- the Immoral Minority blog. Our readers should be aware, if they are not already, that the operator of the Immoral Minority blog, "Gryphen," is a "Trig Truther," meaning somebody who does not believe that Trig Palin is Governor Palin's son. Examples of his "Trig Trutherism" can be found here, here and here. Gryphen also believes that Bristol Palin is pregnant again, and that Levi Johnston has been fathering children with other teenage girls.

ReplyDeleteRex is on the eddie burke show right now
ReplyDeleteOT:Gryhen...you are on ceeforpee's "sh*t list"! they are linking you with the teaser on AK standard! They have screen shots by "Web Cite"! They have archived a few of your blogs. I don't like where this is going. They brag they have "shut down Trig truther sites on ADN"
ReplyDeleteBeing a "Trig Truther" is the ultimate sign of Palin Derangement Syndrome. We were successful in our efforts to stop the Anchorage Daily News from linking to this nutjob's website. They are all about censorship surrounding the Queen Gino!
Be careful Gryphen. These people are WHACKJOBS!!!
Amen, sister @ 12:06.......Still, I am my brother's keeper....it saddens me to see his misguided ways, but i don't yet see him as a vindictive, liar, narcissistic influential person who can do a lot of damage to society at large...at that point, He must be removed and contained.....sort of like AK GINO...So, Griphen think of him as what SP was to Mack..in a less malevolent way.
ReplyDeleteForever.
C4P is scared. They know, deep down, that GINO has some major skeletons still unearthed. So.. naturally, they are starting to attack the messenger.
ReplyDeleteI think, no matter what, some people will never acknowledge that SP has already lost.
On topic, I feel bad for Michael Steele. He's trying, and he is who he is. It's so embarrassing for him, though... the struggle to just be seen as a person, instead of a person of one or another color, has only begun.
Ok!!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as Steele goes, the GOP is right on the money with this move to restrict his ability to charge expenditures. Back when he was running for Seante there were some very shady expenditures for hundreds of thousands of dollars he sent to his sister's (the ex wife of Mike Tyson) company for supposed meeting planning services. It still has not been settled.
ReplyDeleteAs far as C4P goes, they can all kiss my ass...they are nothing but scared shitless idiots who choose to act like low level mobsters trying to intimidate and shakedown a private citizen who happens to write a blog that states his opinions...how pathetic. They need to take their little Sarah obsession and get a life. Unlike the c4P'rs, Gryphen is actually a resident of Alaska and one of Sarah Palin's constituents, and her shenanignas affect his life more than any of theirs. He has a right to investigate whatever he wants.
Hey Gryphen,
ReplyDeleteGo over to C4P they're slammin the hell out of you. It's rather sad that they are so overprotective of SP, and so mean to anyone who reveals the truth about her. It kills me that whoever has the website has all the sudden become an expert on Alaska.
Perhaps C4P can be sued for slander, libel and defamation of character? Or because they are owned by people outside of the US will they be libel for more?
ReplyDeleteI wonder what a good attorney would say about that?
